  1. My Elf has been 100% reliable, I would give them a call. Rasyad
  2. I just put one on my Benelli M4. I moved the Briley trigger over from the OEM aluminum trigger guard and added a TTI lifter and safety, MOA extended bolt release and GG&G bolt handle. The Briley hammer was tight and needed fitting other than that everything fit perfect. On vacation to Boise tomorrow and taking my guns to visit the real United States. Rasyad
  3. Hi Bret, Interesting question I just put Shield SIS sight on my Benelli M4 and was asking myself the same thing so goggled "shotgun slug balistics" Remmington has a good chart below which shows that should get you in the ballpark. Of course it depends on the shotgun / slug combination you are shooting and how far you want to shoot. I plan to start with a 50 yard zero and shoot until I have a feel for how I group in field conditions. https://support.remington.com/SLUGS/Ballistics_for_Remington_Shotgun_Slug_Ammunition Rasyad
  4. Funny, I just converted my Ar 10 to a crossbolt style safety from Elf Tactical and like it way better than the original selector lever. http://www.elftactical.com/ar-15-ar-10-ambidextrous-speed-safety-push-button Rasyad
  5. I just boutght a M10 QD-l mount from American Rifle Company. It is light weight and a super solid design. Check it out here. http://www.americanrifle.com/M10-scope-ring-mounts.html Rasyad
  6. Great information, does anyone know which grip fits smaller hands best? Thanks, Rasyad
  7. Do metal grips load and function as smooth as plastic? Also really curious how the PT Ti grip is holding up. Thanks, Rasyad
  8. Very cool, thanks. Looking forward to your review. I guess a really new entry into the 1x6 market would be Eotech's Vudu. Coming in August 2016. Rasyad
  9. I have been obsessively researching low power scopes and came accross the Minox ZP8 1-8x24 with the MR10+ reticle. I love the features, expecially the combination of FFP reticle and SFP red dot. Unfortunately, there is precious little independent review of this scope. Has anyone seen one in person? Thanks, Rasyad
  10. I am using the 3M™ PELTOR™ TEP-100 Tactical Earplugs with the Skull Screw ear plugs. These units are rated to provide a 30 decibel noise reduction which seems fine at the outdoor range I shoot at. One can have a normal conversation even withe the constant shooting in the background. Plus they come in a cool little case that keeps them charged. I am only at the range for a few hours and do not know how long the rechargeable internal batteries really last. Rasyad
  11. I am curious as well. What are the factors that control long distance bullet stability? I know knothing about such things but read somewhere that bullets vary at how well they handle the deceleration from supersonic speed. Is this a clue? Rasyad
  12. My black Double Tap Basepads came in today. The fit was initially too tight as but that was easily remidied by buffing down the rear half of the tube base flanges a few thou. Function in the gun is great. 10 rounds of 45acp in a 10 round mag. My only complaint with the base pads were some sharp corners at the opening where the tube flanges enter the basepad channels. Again easily soved with a tiny bit of stoning and a black marker. Rasyad
  13. I am also curious about sight trackers. Does the milled slot in the slide compromize barrel / slide fit at the muzzle? It seems like there wouild be less surface area between the barrel and slide at lock up. Rasyad
  14. That is my plan, become my own personal mag tuning expert. Rasyad
  15. I called up The Double Tap guys and they confirmed that their baseplates work with 126mm tubes and any Magwell. I ordered 3 black ones to try out. For those of us not living in free America these Double Tap Basepads might be just the ticket to 10 round happiness. Thanks Tons for the tip, Rasyad
  16. Hey Eric, Thanks tons. I will have to try some black ones. Rasyad
  17. Whoops, wrong gun wrong mag. SV, not STI, my appologies to the OP. Unfortunately, I have the same issue living here in the not free state of California. Staying within the letter of the law and our 10 round limit has created a challange sourcing mags for limited 10 in 45 cal. As shown above, the stock 10 round STI mag only works with the carry basepad and only with the top edges relieved to clear the Magwell. Calling around I have yet to find a basepad that will work with the 126mm mag that did not require modification to either the grip or the basepad. It would be legal for me to purchase 140mm tubes, shorten them, and then design and fabricate basepads that limited the rounds to 10 so long as it was not possible to increase the round count by swapping components. While I can do this sort of thing (own a Bridgeport and know how to use it), I am really of the mind to abandon the 2011 platform and go single stack. Rasyad
  18. Here is an image of the base plate I modified to fit. Rasyad
  19. Here is an image of my Tactical 45 with Dawson's Big Ice magwell and a stock 10 round 126mm mag inserted. Note it was necessary to ease the top edge of the plastic base in order to get it to seat. The Dawson mag release also helped so now a full mag reloads reliably and solid. Rasyad
  20. Thanks, edited post. Rasyad
  21. As a new member I am not allowed to post links but I found a great feed lip tuning video by Atlas Gunworks. His main point is that one can control the angle of the round by adjusting the width of the front of the feed lips relative to the back. He recomends having the front of the feedlips .003-.010 wider than than the back. He also recomends the Dawson Mag tuning kit. I don't have the Dawson kit, yet, but opening the front lips just a tiny bit allowed the round to angle up. Rasyad
  22. I guess this is where old farts say hello so here goes. I have been into action sports my whole life. I started with backpacking, rock climbing and mountaineering, then ski mountaineering, white water kayaking, rafting, and big wave paddle surfing, all at a pretty high level. Started skating vert when I turned 50 and still skate, surf, sup, and shoot my recurve on a regular basis. Now at 60, I have turned my attention to hanguns and this totally new world of learning. As a mechinical designer and innovation guy I have a deep appreciation for cool gear and think I might have stumbled into another version of gear heaven. Over the years I have done a fair bit of teaching and coaching and can see at once the extremely high quality of information and thoughtful, courtious discourse on this forum. That BE is such a Buddha head is just over the top and makes me feel right at home. Having done my fair share of no-shit-there-I-was, hair ball adventure I can really appreciate how a little presence of mind can go a long way. Bought the t-shirt and gun lube straight away. I have a ways to go figuring out how to get my new to me 2011 STI Tactical 45 to run right, not to mention learning how to be safe and shoot straight and run around all at the same time. But heck, I am in and look forward to the ride. Thanks in advance for letting me play, Rasyad
  23. I just turned 60 and have decided to expand my understanding of firearms in general and develop solid skills as a shooter. Wonderful thread, thanks to all for contributing and for making this such a nice place to learn. Rasyad
  24. Great Grip Instructional Video. Thanks, Rasyad
