  1. I have one open gun, that is currently with my gunsmith coincidentally lol. IF I had the funds to put towards it I would have two open guns that were mirror images of each other. One for practice, both live and dry, and one for matches. I'd bring the practice gun to every match just in case. This strategy would be a lot easier if I shot a glock lol.
  2. Go shoot a lot of rounds. Your timings off.
  3. Id love to hear more about what you've found
  4. Dropped mine off today with the smith. Getting 2 holes and some slide cuts done. Will report back! I have slo mo footage of before
  5. Only read the first couple replies... thay said, the thing I have found to really get that last little bit out was to have the does lock but loose, run the shell plate into the tool head (while it's full, just like loading) and then tighten your jam/lock nuts down. That was the final piece to the puzzle for me.
  6. I think shmella may be on to something with the mag. I will ill post some pictures (or maybe a video?) the next time I go shoot.
  7. I need to check my minor loads that are 1.1
  8. 2011 open gun. Tried a couple different bullet profiles and still having this issue. Noticed a buddies limited gun does it too. Basically, if I shoot the gun and then unchamber the round that it just loaded (think ULSC) the nose of bullet has been hit hard against the bottom of the feed ramp. Happens with tuned SVI & STI mags as well as MBX. The very bottom of my feed ramp has been filed/milled/material removed some how, I guess for fitting purposes? Idk? But it looks like if I had that surface that's gone back it wouldn't mangle the bullets. Thoughts?
  9. I shoot with a guy who works for one of the alphabet agencies (forget which one) and he carries a STI tactical on duty and competes with it. Buy the gun, vet the gun, carry the gun.
  10. We use the range but run it as an independent match not affiliated with the range. Basically match fee goes to the range and they close it down at 5 for us. You can shoot .338 lapua in there, just not at our match lol. They have a kinda low ceiling and metal plates that are angled down ward to help with splatter I'm guessing, idk. It really is obnoxiously loud. Before I was an open shooter I was in favor of this rule, now, not so much!
  11. Lol ive already tried my minor load and it works fine. A lot of people have missed that I've answered my own question along time ago.
  12. Just got a shipping notification. If these bullets are decent quality (I'm sure they will be as previous buyers have said) these will be my new Bullets!
  13. I have 1MBX 170 that I plan to use MBX springs and followers to freshen up. I have 3 140 STI tubes that are tuned with TTI base pads and unknown spring and followers. What should I use? i have 2 140 SVI tuned mags with SVI guts and base pads. What should I use? Could i standardize across all mags with MBX springs and followers or is this a try and see type deal? Ideally I don't want 3 different combos to keep up with. I also want reliability and max amount of rounds.
  14. I shoot 124's at 1.170 with 10.0 grains of accurate #7 and get ~171PF. I use the roller bearing on my 650 and have it at juuuuust the right tension. No powder spillage and no binding. Without this I get a little powder on my shell plate.
  15. Not that it matters, but skullmug is my buddy and we shoot together. We talked about modifying it last night but where unsure of which way to go with it. Neither one of us could find any of the info we were looking for on here so I made a post here and texted him the link so he could watch for updates. Not sure what other issues he/I would have by activating the slide stop while shooting. If your thumb it's the top of the fin due to your grip and you are actually using the rest to control the gun, it can get hung up..
  16. How much do you cut off the slide lock/nitro fin?
  17. I have a nitro fin thumb rest slide stop on a limited gun and due to the angle of my thumb placement I occasionally get a slide lock mid stage. I know the conventional way seems to be removing material from the mag follower, and a little from the area on the slide stop that the follower would engage.. I'm looking to make the slide stop not work even if you pressed it up and tried to lock the slide back by hand. Anybody have some pics or info on the correct/best way to do this? thanks guys
  18. Major load is 10 grains of #7 under a 124gr coated bullet at 1.170 minor load is 3.7 grains of ETR7 under a 135gr coated bullet at 1.110 (my tanfo load) simply making minor isnt isn't what I wanted to do, I needed an actual minor production load. Indoors the slower powder at higher than normal minor PF levels is almost the same amount of noise. Shooting my normal production load the gun cycles fine and you can't tell the difference in noise between my gun and a tanfo.
  19. Beautiful gun! What magwell is that?
  20. You ain't gonna get Instagram famous with your phone in your car.. throw it in your back pocket
