  1. hahahaha! @ Yigal, yes, that's true!!! It's actually a bit funny to see at the matches here.... We all wear Salomon speed cross shoes and we all have DAA gear... hahahaha! ( not éveryone, of course... but still...)
  2. Thanks guys, Unfortunately I live in the Netherlands..... only a handful of (sport)shooters here and therefore even less than a handful of companies that have the proper licensing to 'handle' firearms... (give them a new coating) Companies specialized in coatings simply aren't interested in getting the proper licenses because there is no money to be made and it's just a hastle.... I actually already have an appointment to get an IonBond coating on the frame and slide... but I have to wait till June, and here's the kicker.... it costs € 375,- That's US $ 425,- So now you probably understand why I wanna give beedblasting a go.
  3. Thanks Sarge! I haven't seen the die-set yet. It had just been offered to me, but as I just googled a Lyman die-set for 10mm I indeed see it is being sold as 10mm / .40S&W Regards, Jan
  4. Thanks Mach1soldier... it was kind of asking the obvious... as there is hardly any coating left on the slide as seen in the bottom picture next to the thumb rest... and yes.... it seems to be rusting in that spot...
  5. Hi guys, I'm new to reloading .40 S&W and I've been offered a 10mm auto die-set from Lyman. Can I use this for reloading .40 S&W? Regards, J.W.
  6. Hi guys, I recently purchased a new to me pistol for Standard division (limited) in .40 It is an SVI frame with what seems to be an STI Edge slide. The slide is quite worn. A buddy of mine has a bead blaster set up, so I could easily disassemble slide and frame and beadblast the black finish off, (what's left of it) My question is.... what will it do to it's corrosion resistance if I blast off the black coating? Thanks in advance for your feedback, guys.
  7. At one match I heard of a few guys making use of an interesting option. A long course had one popper all the way left of the stage at approx 40 meters and same thing on the right side of the stage. You had to start the stage on either the left or the right side, beginning with these poppers. We saw many guys fire several shots at the poppers before they went down. A few guys decided to just shoot one shot at each popper as fast as possible and proceed with the rest of the stage, this way avoiding a procedural for not shooting at a target but gaining a lot of time on other competitors. Doing the math regarding hit factor / time versus points / results from other competitors, this could've given them the stage win. I don't believe it actually resulted in a stage win for either of them, but that was a pure definition of 'gaming' in my book....
  8. Great shooting, man! And I was looking for some revolver footage of the Nationals to get 'inspired' for the Nationals here in the Netherlands taking place in two weeks ? so... thanks!
  9. On a side note... I did something similar for a buddy of mine who wanted to start using his Python for some Steel Plate shooting, using speed loaders... He didn't like the simple 'plastic' cups to hold his speedloaders and wanted something similar to mine, so I made him one as well... ?
  10. @ Swordfish, I just put one 'flat' at a time in the vice, and bent it by hand ? just checking as I go, if the bend was enought to fit my tiny waste....? I won't be going in to business with this stuff, and I'm in the Netherlands anyways.
  11. I made mine myself as well. Simple aluminum L-profile for a few bucks, some aluminum rod, cut down, some countersunk magnets, some black paint... and your're done. I screwed it onto a DAA outer belt. Fun to do as well...
  12. Thanks for the excellent feedback guys! Alec, so on the revo in the picture I added with the 627 barrel, you had to open up the underlug so the ejector rod would clear it? And you added a recess for the ball lock up? I love that classic look. I don’t really like the look of the barrel without under lug... Tommy, I guess the LW blanks are by definition simply round without a lug or are there other options like with the beautifull PPC revolvers you have built?
  13. Hi guys, I've seen this picture of a 6.5 inch model 27 barrel fitted on a 627 8-shot. It is an idea I'm entertaining at the moment. (to have done by a gunsmith experienced in working with revos, of course...) Why? - because I would like to have the longer sight radius - because I like the look of the classic 27 barrel much more than the slab sides of the 627 PC - because I'm not sure if I can get a custom barrel in the Netherlands - because there are plenty of second hand 27's and 28's available in the Netherlands for around € 250,- . I just need to find one with a good barrel. Is there anyone here who has tried it? (or actually owns the revo in the picture ? ) Would it be relatively easy to do for an experienced guy? Regards, J.W.
  14. They have an 'open back' version as well, Adam. And they're really worth the 'investment'.....
  15. I definitely did not do this myself, but a great gunsmith here in the Netherlands. No, stuff doesn't seem to get in there, but then again, I'm the clean-after-every-session type of guy... I have the Karl Nill Master II closed back grips with 'pinky ledge'...
  16. That's really cool.... I thought mine was aggessive!

    That's really cool! Welcome back!
  18. I started IPSC revolver a year ago (when I got my 627PC) and I'm located in the Netherlands. We have a small but growing group of IPSC schooters. I believe 700 or 800 total members in the Netherlands and about 10 Level II matches per year. We have a little over 10 revo-shooters in the Netherlands, but most of us are actually quite serious about it! For me it is also difficult to train and shoot matches with the other revolver shooters. Over here in the Netherlands our matches are full within two to three minutes after they open. It is a total crapshoot, and the luxury of signing up in the same squad as the other revo-shooters is usually not attainable. Our long-time number 1 revo-shooter does give training sessions, which are great, by the way! And I've found that asking any of the best (international) revo-shooters for advice is no problem at all. Everyone seems ready and willing to help out.... but of course being able to shoot together is a different story. In our neighbouring Germany we have Sascha Back, one of the best revo-shooters in the world, and I unfortunately haven't had the chance to meet him yet, but he also seems a great guy and also gives courses, so hopefully one time I will be able to attend one of them. About having to do a standing reload as opposed to leaving the mike and proceeding with a long course.... I did that yesterday, leaving the mike, at a great match in Rotterdam! I ended up last on that stage... (we had five revo-shooters in this match)
  19. Sorry for digging up this old thread... but I'm all happy with myself and wanted to share... Instead of buying new sights, I've decided to open up the factory rear sight to 0.2 inch on my 627 PC and blacken out the 'gold bead' on the front sight. My God, what a huge difference.... so much easier to pick up the front sight now... Oh.. and I've deepened the sight as far as possible as well...
  20. Hi, Perttime. No, the thumbrest is not in the way for reloads. These grips are 'moonclip friendly' as Nill states... I haven't had any instances where the thumbrest messed up my reload.
  21. These grips are the Master II from Karl Nill. their website: www.nill-griffe.com They are in Germany. You can select the English version of the website on the top left corner. If you go to 'shop' and then select your country from the drop down box, you can then select "Special grips for revolver" and there on the second page you will find the Master II grips. You can order them in different sizes with closed or open back. They provide a 'table' with measurements for your hand so you can select the right grip. For example, I have the 'standard' size with the closed back. The width of my palm is about 10 cm and this fits me perfectly and gives the right distance from the back of the grip to the trigger. It usually does take several weeks for them to have your grip ready. But it is só worth it! Oh and mentally prepare yourself for the price......US $ 245.70 but really, they're worth it.
  22. Or one of my kids.... they're well behaved...
  23. Yes, it does have an ugly hammer, doesn't it? That's high on my list... but getting it carmonized will be difficult as I am in the Netherlands. But we have a very skilled man overhere who does beautiful things with revolvers, so I just need to come up with the cash... but I'll first spend my money on reloading components so I can keep it running.
