  1. I am on the board of the local conservation club and I practice there. We have three pistol bays. One 25 yards deep with a covered shooting line and two without a covered line that are 35 yards deep. We allow draws, reloads, etc. We also have a 125 yard rifle range and an area for shotgunners. As has been said before be it ever so humble theres no place like some place close. (20 minutes from the house.)
  2. Not if either one of them read this forum!!!!
  3. Well after looking at Matt's description I couldn't be in an advance pistol class (Lowly C class shooter) I will keep watching and if this is a regular IPSC class for D thru M I will sign up.
  4. I would like to see it as early in the year as possible so that I could use what I learned for the most amount of time.
  5. I liked the story about wrapping electrical tape around it like a baseball bat. As long as we are making suggestions maybe they could just cut the bad part off and put the bore sight back in!
  6. Dad is still around to argue with but life is too short so why bother. According to Dad he won't get an internet connection because someone will get his information. Can't convince him that if his info isn't on the computer they can't get it. Oh well I guess I will just keep calling and talking to him. Don't want to think about him not being around.
  7. If I remember correctly the gun just has to fit inside the box with the magazine inserted.
  8. +1 to what Shred said. With 8 and 10 round magazines you can shoot L-10 single Stack and at least one IDPA division
  9. I am sorry to hear about this. I went to the "Targeting Education" match this year and had a great time. I thought the facility was top notch. Hope they can reach a resolution on this.
  10. I only use the Precision 185 SWC in my 45. They are great! (assuming I do my part) I only use the Precision 185 SWC in my 45. They are great! (assuming I do my part)
  11. I use the CMC 10 rounders. Haven't had any problems other than having to replace the springs after about 3 years. Not sure how many rounds.
  12. Jim, Be safe over there and thank you for your service! Doug
  13. Nice video Jake. Brings back several memories. None of them too good. Still had a lot of fun though.
  14. In Indiana rattlesnakes and copperheads are on the endangered list. If I come across them on my property they are definitely in danger!
  15. Was sorting a bunch of brass this week-end and found 100-200 Federal NT brass in it. It appears that Federal uses large pistol primers unlike Winchester. Does anyone know if this is correct? Could this be used with regular large pistol primers or is there something else that makes them NT? I planned to pitch them like I do with Winchester but if they can be safely reloaded I will hang on to them. Thanks in advance for your help.
  16. Congratulations Jake!! But remember what Rhino was so kind to point out. Practicing is CHEATING!!!
  17. Chuck, I do sort all of my brass by headstamp. The loads I tried at home were PMC and the loads that I missed major with were Federal. Merlin, My current crimp is .470. Thanks to everyone for the advise and if anyone has any other please let me know. Thanks, Doug
  18. OK I will start this by saying I screwed up. I didn't chrono my loads in time to make changes before the match. My fault but I do need some help or opinions. I am shooting a Precision 185 grain SWC with 4.4 grains of Clays. Last year at the KY state match it made Major at about 170 PF +. This year the same load was 167.5 at the same match. I felt this was getting to close for comfort so I added .1 grain to move back up to try to get to the 170 area. The night before I left to go to the match I took off early to go to the range to chrono and I shot several strings all running in the 162-166 PF so I knew I was going to be close. Well I was close but on the wrong side. 163.6. I am running the same primers (Win LP), still once fired brass, the same powder (8# jug) Clays. Fot the match at KY I was still using the Precision Bullets with the lube groove but for this match I got the new style without the groove. Is it possible that these bullets need a tighter crimp? Currently I am at .470 with an OAL of 1.245. Looking for some advise! More crimp or more powder. And I know make sure that I chrono in time to be sure of making major. Thanks in advance for your help.
  19. I got one after I bought my Thunder Ranch Special. I was having problems with the ocassional round not wanting to go fully into battery. I set my sizing die (Dillon) down as far as it would go and still had a few problems. Now no more problems. I like it.
  20. This was a great match. Challenging, well run, great people a great range. If you get the chance shoot this one. Oh, yeah fans for the heat. What more could you ask for.
  21. Cameron, Thanks for the information. I will coming up tomorrow and then be in Max's class on Thursday. This sounds like one heck of a match and I am really looking forward to it. Doug
  22. I for one would hate to see L-10 go away but if it does I will shoot Limited with my 10 round mags. I know that I won't be competitive but I am out to have fun. Or I may buy a 9mm and shoot single stack. (Once the ten round mags that work become available.) I just don't see a reason to do away with any divisions but that is just me.
