Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I just bought a commander S&W 1911sc for carry as I am moving away from the Glock platform. I have found it to be absolutely perfect.
  2. I cycled through tons of "shooting glasses" and finally just started wearing my Oakley's. Can't find anything else that comes close.
  3. Greetings from roughly 2 hours north!
  4. When I start to feel burned out I take a break. I do things like pull out the bolt rifles and spend a day shooting off a bench. Or take the magnum wheelguns out and make some noise. Having other hobbies helps. Photography and biking seem to work well for me.
  5. I run it in 40, 45, 10mm and 38spc. Yes it is flashy. As a shooter I only notice it on extremely overcast days. I do not find it bothersome, in fact I find lead smoke screws me up more than muzzle flash. Not sure about the noise, I certainly don't notice it while shooting. Overall I have found it to be superior for my needs. Meters great and is consistent from lot to lot.
  6. I love mine for the rifles. I don't have to worry about wind, light or waiting for a ceasefire. Last I read they are working on a pistol mounting solution.
  7. This. I have tried forcing myself to do the elbows locked but slightly bent stance. I spent over a years worth of competitions moving backwards down the ranks. Finally one day I decided to throw it all out and go with what was naturally comfortable. Locking my wrists down does far more for me than doing anything special with my elbows.
  8. I like the way it smells when I walk out to score/paste after somebody else has shot the course with it.
  9. A year ago I gave up on trying to find Varget but I have to say, lately I have been seeing it on shelves everywhere. Not just small quantities either. Recently at Cabelas they had at least 50lbs on the shelf. I personally prefer 4895 in my 308.
  10. Primary comp gun is now a 2011. Carry gun is still a Glock 23. I shoot local outlaw matches with one Glock or another under the premise of keeping myself proficient with it.
  11. I have my 11.5 in 5.56 setup like this with a Seekins BAR. I still love the setup but sometimes I wish I hadn't forced myself to always run a can. I've run it pretty hard doing mag dumps, even ran it in a 3 Gun match. No temperature issues or anything else worth mentioning. It is just a solid all around home defense setup. I'm currently working on a 10" blackout with a flush mount can. The barrel had to be cut just right to fit it all together. We actually wound up destroying the MI handguard seen in this photo. It has since been replaced with a BCM Keymod, I don't have pics yet.
  12. When I don't lube cases the wife complains that I'm making too much noise.
  13. No oil at all for me on the 2011. TW25B on all contact surfaces. Rails, bushing, lugs, hammer, sear, disco. Whatever I don't grease I coat with BoreTech Shield for the RP.
  14. 1. I learned that I do better overall in matches when I am mentally trying to move up in classification vs mentally trying to beat another shooter. 2. Even the most experienced shooters with the safest gun handling habits can get themselves DQd. 3. My head isn't going to explode if I don't buy every piece of new gear I want on impulse.
  15. In bolt rifles, whenever I feel my groups are starting to open up. I'd say between 100 and 200 rounds. In ARs....maybe once every 500 rounds.
