  1. Has anyone solved this issue or know what is different with the non working extractor vs a working one? I dont like the solution of buying a bunch of extractors and testing them to stumble onto a working one. I have this issue coming back after seemingly going away for about 1500+ rounds. When I first got my tanfo it happened very frequently so I swapped the extractor out for one with a 9 on it and filed on the tab to increase tension and also installed an XP spring which seemed to have solved the problem. But last practice session it happened again, three times with brass that worked before. Happened with once fired same headstamp case as well which ran for about 1500 rounds prior to popping up again.

10.5 under a 115jhp in my 9major open gun with 2 holes was the best shooting load I have found other than the old HS7. It never seemed overly dirty to me

Ditto in the best load I've tried, not overly dirty at all.  Never tried hs7 though.

Put 10 rounds in plastic bag keep them in an iced cooler, 10 in cardboard box, 10 in a can in front of the car heater vent for 5 minutes. Test them at the same time and find out for yourself, instead of asking for other's opinions.

You might as well just delete your account here then and call it a day.

  4. Has anyone above left ammo in the sun on a 80-90degree day and then chrono???? It is mentioned that you guys have chronoed ammo in hot weather, but ammo left in the sun would be simulating something like (wild guess) 140degree+ temperatures. I have wondered the same thing myself as the OP. There has been many times where my range bag/ammo or mags have been left on a table at a match in the sun and I questioned the pf swinging due to it.

The dot size variation between manufacturers astounds me... How a 2.5MOA and an 8MOA can look the same is ridiculous, when it should be measurable at 100yds. I've noticed this too. From your picture / description, I'm glad I went for the 3MOA RTS2 - 8MOA is way too big for my personal liking

    Thanks for the pic.

the 2.5 dot looks much smaller than that picture in person. The photo is focused on the wrong spot to actually see the size comparison of the two dots. The DPP is bright on the highest setting, creating, to my eyes, a slight starbust effect which makes it appear slightly larger.

  6. I made that post.  I'll say it, he isn't and wasn't a "nice guy" to me. Everything in the post is true, it's not a made up account/story just for kicks. ill say it again. I owned and atlas, I own an svi now. Go with the svi, you won't regret it.

  7. Your only options as far as I know are, Double tap two sided or Sv two sided and both are setup originally for an RTS2. (or at least the SV is) and they say if you want to mount a DPP you will need to grind off the tabs.

Thanks Shmella. Do you know if that creates any recoil issues? Shifting in the mount?

I dont think it would be an issue. Ive had one on an open gun before and many others have and have yet to have an issue. As long as the screws are tight and loctited properly there shouldnt be an issue.

  9. Im ditching all of my autocomp and only shooting AA7 from here on out. Thats the plan at least.

10.5 under a 115mg jhp was right at 170-172pf over the chrono yesterday in 80degrees F. I dont know if this powder is temp sensitive. I only just started using it. My particular Barrel seems to be slow though.

  10. Just shot about 400 rounds with 10.5 and a 115 in 9mm yesterday in practice. No malfunctions at all. I didnt break the gun down yet but nothing seemed overly dirty.

I was very serious about getting an atlas open gun until I read and heard a bunch of negative stuff recently. I called them and spoke to them a couple times but I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger.

Im just gonna be patient(something I have a hard time with) and wait on a deal.

I do remember atlas at one time saying they were gonna keep their prices reasonable but when I called he said their prices would be going up very soon to sv price points and their guns are the same caliber build as SV.

That was the same reason I went with them originally. Competitive pricing and a lot of praise on here. The pricing is through the roof now, and there was a lot of, say one thing and do another. I am not a fan.

Make sure it gets picked up off the inside of the tunnel to hold the brass.  Also avoid closing the slide on a round in the chamber which will really speed up loss of extractor tension.

What do you mean by this?

and I didnt know that would be bad for the extractor. Thanks, I probably dropped the slide on an round in the chamber 20-30 times over the weekend when hand cycling some rounds to see what the ejection looked like.

  13. Good luck lol . You have to perfect the ejector and extractor to that gun. Some say shape of ejector x works and some say the opposite. Ive been searching this topic for a while and the general consensus is install an aftec properly tuned and play with the length and shape of the ejector to see what it does. Also slo mo video helps. Hand cycle some empty cases and record it in slomo on an iPhone if you have one. It might appear to be ejecting too high but could actually be hitting the bottom of the ejection port and bouncing up

Atlas... I have 2 of them and both are as good or better than any of the SVI's, or Akai's, or CK's ect ect ect.  And Adam will actually talk to you on the phone when you call.

I couldn't disagree with this more, but that goes to show the OP everyone has a preference and opinion and you will have to take the gamble yourself.  I have an SV and had an atlas. The atlas was not as good and surely not better quality than the Svi I own now.

  15. Svi, McLearn, or Akai. I would recommend no one else. I've owned an Atlas.

Edit for Correction. I would only recommend the above 3 IF you're looking for a big name. My advice is to Find a local smith who has a good reputation. My builds going forward will only be through my local smith who I have used for many different things and have seen his builds run.

  16. This is my second year shooting uspsa and my first where I had any real clue what was going on as far as scoring goes. Ive shot 6 matches this year and two out of the 6 my time was entered incorrectly on a stage (I noticed after the match was over when reviewing videos) and made me realize this same thing. That it seems there is no standard procedure as far as how times and scores are recorded and it varies from match to match or from squad to squad depending on who youre squadded with. I now try to ask for the time after every stage to confirm the time and see what was recorded because I am sick of having skewed posted match results to what I actually have performed. Its odd that there isnt a proper procedure layed out on how to score that must be followed after the course of fire is finished.
