  1. I am back. The flight hurt me. 13 hours from Incheon to Dallas. I think I stood up half the flight. I am in South Carolina now for three weeks in school. I will get a chance to take some leave after school. I am jet lagged. I can barely stay awake during the day time. I do have my match schedule put together once I get to Lexington. I plan to shoot at Mid Carolina in Columbia, SC this weekend and then shoot the GA state next weekend. I will be hitting the range soon to work on some accuracy. I will pick speed back up as I get more comforatable. Thanks. glock17w
  2. I will step foot on US soil tomorrow after spending 873 days in Korea. It will be a culture shock but I will take it in stride. 13 hour flight with free drinks and food will be nice. I love Korean Airlines. See you on the range soon. glock17w
  3. I am a little nervous about coming back into shooting. I am not nervous that I will be unsafe but I am nervous on my match performance. I haven't routinely shot matches for 2 and half years. I did shoot a couple of matches when I went home on leave in December 2005 - January 2006. My plans to come back into shooting were altered once I received my assignment. I learned that I would change command that day before I leave Korea and then have to report to school the day after I return to the states. Needless to say, it messed up my plans to go to Florida to attend a two day pistol class with Manny Bragg. That class would bring me back into shooting and prepare me for the Gerogia State Match. I will use a local match in Columbia, SC on 9 June that will assist in prepping me for the match. I will also go to the indoor range and focus on accuracy before the match. Hopefully, I will shoot the Gerogia State ok. It will be a good experience. Once I arrive in Lexington, KY, I will get a chance to shoot more and get back into shooting. Maybe I will get a chance to attend that class with Manny Bragg once I get settled in. glock17w
  4. Is there an update on the date and time of this match? Will it change to a different date from Area III? glock17w
  5. Georgia State Championship Tennessee Sectional (possible) Area III (possible) When and where is the Kentucky Sectional? glock17w
  6. I am thinking about attending this match. It depends on what my job workload is like. At the moment, I couldn't tell you. I will know more as I get closer to August or September time frame. glock17w
  7. Will the stages be posted soon? Will the squads be posted? Match booklet?
  8. I can tell your son all about West Point. I am a West Point graduate. I graduated in 2000. Just let me know when you want me to talk to him. glock17w
  9. No Baghdad for me; at least for next 2 years. I am taking command of an Army Recruiting Company Command in Lexington, Kentucky. I was expecting to deploy but it didn't happen this time. Maybe next assignment. glock17w
  10. Thanks for the list of shooting clubs. I think I will frequent KAPS, Wilmore, KY, and Memphis, IN the most. I will get a chance to shoot USPSA the most, a little bit of IDPA, and a little bit of Steel Challenge. I have the schedule out to December 2007. It will keep me occupied along with my new job. Now I just have to look for a place to live and new furniture. I think I have everything else covered. I will be doing alot of driving just to shoot.
  11. Thanks Chuck. I will look you up once I arrive. I might be persuaded to shoot something other than Glocks. This messed up my plans to attend 2 day pistol class with Manny Bragg in Florida. Hopefully I will find out my new timeline soon and I can change my dates to the July class. I just ordered 10,000 rounds of ammo. I need to find somewhere to shoot them. I guess I will be on the road alot to go to pistol matches. glock17w
  12. I just found out yesterday evening where I was going. I was at a Convoy Live Fire Exercise so I haven't even started change of command inventories. I also do not have a replacement but I have to be in SC by 3 June. Everything is going to move quick and fast. Thanks for the information. glock17w
  13. I finally got an assignment. I am headed to Lexington, Kentucky. My only other option was Idaho. Can anyone let me know any shooting clubs nearby (USPSA or IDPA)? glock17w
  14. I don't know if I am qualified to offer any advice. I have read through your posts and I see a trend. 1. Your mind is pre-programed before you shoot every match. You already have in your mind that you will start off slow, speed up in the middle, and either finish strong or finish rough. My advice is don't pre-program the flow of your matches in your head. I would say learn from the things you want to correct. Sustain the things you did well. After the matches, discard the rough parts after you learn from them. Don't keep the baggage. The baggage is holding you back. 2. There is too much cause and effect. My Soldiers told me at the range the other day that if they wore their elbow pads at the qualification range, it would mess up their shooting. I told them as long as they look through the reer peep hole and line up the front sight on the target, it doesn't matter. Bottom line - you are very close to becoming a Grand Master. You know what it takes to win and you obviously know how to shoot fast and accurately. You just have to go out with a plan and do what you know how to do. Don't carry the added stress. My opinion only. I may be out completely wrong and in left field. glock17w

    The Fish

Good luck Catfish at the Double Tap Match. I am sure you will do fine and meet your goal. Relax and shoot. You have remained focused. Glock17w
  16. Hopefully, I can attend this match next year. I will plan on it. I love the Steel Challenge matches. glock17w
  17. Why does it seem like the times are faster here than they are at the Steel Challenge Match in California? glock17w
  18. Still nothing. Probably will not find out anything until mid April. That is the time I should be starting my change of command inventories and still no replacement. This is BS. glock17w
  19. Change of command inventory will be hell as usual. I just came out of the field. We are doing inventories on all major items along with the components. Will order anything missing. I will know the summer requirements by 19 March which means by 31 March. Hopefully I will have request for orders on beginning to mid April. Hopefully, I will have a replacement by this time. It is frustrating but I am makking the best of it. 88 days left now. I am looking forward to my 2 day class with Manny Bragg and shooting the Georgia State Match once I return. I will also get to spend a lot of time with my family. I have two nieces and a nephew now. Guess I will be putting a lot of money in piggybanks once I return. I am just trying to keep a good attitude even though it is hard. glock17w
  20. I am nearly 90 days from having to leave Korea and I still don't know my next assignment. It is kind of nerve wrecking. Just got a message that they will not know the summer requirements until end of March. That means I will not get my orders until 30 - 60 days before I have to leave this place. On top of that, there is currently no replacement Captain to take command from me. I may have to extend to wait on a replacement. No replacement and no new assignment. I am on pins and needles. It is killing me. glock17w

    Jet Travel

If you have never flown Korean Air, you are missing out. I love flying Korean Air but I hate the 14 hour non stop flight from Seoul to Atlanta and the 14 hour non stop flight from Atlanta to Seoul. At 6'8" it can be hard on the legs to sit in the seat that long. Korean Air is great though. They feed you 4 or 5 times. Keep you full of 80 proof alcohol if you request it at no charge. Show 3 or 4 movies. The flight attendants are always there when you ring them. I love flying Korean air. While you are flying they show you on a screen that you cruising at 39,000 ft. That is a long fall to the ground if something goes wrong. Kind of nerve wrecking but I just keep drinking and eating until I fall asleep. glock17w

    Grip Tape?

Cuz, I agree. I actually spend a lot of time cutting the tape. If it looks bad then I re-cut. TruGrip looks much better than my artist work. I may try TruGrip one day when I geta chance. glock17w

    Grip Tape?

I have heard great things about TruGrip as you can see in the above posts. I just used regular skateboard tape. It may manicure your hands at first but it does everything I need it to do. I can buy Skateboard tape roll for $5. I may make the TruGrip purchase one day. Whether you use TruGrip or sketboard tape, it assists when your hands are sweaty or wet. Glock17w
  24. I just found out that my sister and her husband are being assigned to Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona in July. Now that I have a place to stay, when will the Area 2 Championship Desert Classic happen? I have been checking the USPSA website but haven't seen anything. This would give me a good opportunity to shoot this match and visit my brother-in-law, sister, and niece. glock17w
