  1. And I'm beginning to believe he'd win that arb. I think that he would. It wasn't his fault that another shooter interrupted his run before it was over.
  2. But it doesn't take as much force to keep it from engaging as it does to engage it. You mentioned in happening in competition so it could be related to the way you came back on the gun, your force on the gun being different when on the clock, and etc. I had this exact same issue happen back when I was shooting a Glock 34. Modifying my grip helped but I also switched out the extended magazine release for a standard one solved the issue. Not saying that is an option here but just trying to help you diagnose. Since you are near your gun, does it seem like your current empty mags are able to lock back the slide now? If so then it is likely an issue that you are unintentionally introducing with your hands during live fire.
  3. Even with the factory springs I haven't had this problem but it's possible. Since you have large hands is it possible that you are inadvertently depressing the slide release with your thumb or support hand? I have had to change my grip a few times to avoid this.
  4. For consideration: 5.5.2 Spare magazines, speed loading devices or ammunition dropped or dis-carded by a competitor after the start signal may be retrieved, howev-er, their retrieval is, at all times, subject to all safety rules.
  5. Why the criticism of IDPA rules? I can't speak for others but I think part of the cause might be that the game itself and being able to compete with carry gear is a really cool idea but a few rules (and a serious mentality) seem to be focused solely on trying to hobbling good shooters in nonsensical ways. So, maybe it's primarily criticism out of frustration for what it could be versus what it is.
  6. You can't make that determination. So here are my rule book responses to this scenario. Per 8.6.2 the penalty against the person who picked up the mag would be at the descresion of the range officer: 8.6.2 - Any person providing interference or unauthorized assistance to a competitor during a course of fire (and the competitor receiving such assistance) may, at the discretion of a Range Officer, incur a procedural penalty for that stage and/or be subject to Section 10.6. Per 8.6.4 you should rule this as an "External Influence" and offer the competitor a reshoot. 8.6.4 In the event that inadvertent contact from the Range Officer or another external influence has interfered with the competitor during a course of fire, the Range Officer may offer the competitor a reshoot of the course of fire. The competitor must accept or decline the offer prior to seeing either the time or the score from the initial attempt. However, in the event that the competitor commits a safety infraction during any such interference, the provisions of Section 10.3 may still apply.
  7. Or is it the fault of the RO for allowing other shooters onto the COF to tape etc. Before it's over? Who's fault is it when someone forgets to tape a target or sets a singer incorrect causing a range failure? In these cases it's essentially the RO's responsibility to ensure the stage is ready and the shooter who set the swinger wrong wouldn't be getting a penalty.
  8. I remember this came up at Club matches in the past. A shooter can run back to retrieve a dropped mag but if someone else moved it then it was viewed as a reshoot. It's why we have to stress that mags need to say on the ground until the end of the COF. Sometimes this is hard to do if you are trying to score and tape before the end of the COF which could also get you in trouble from a technical standpoint.
  9. After the dropped mag was picked up it effectively changed the COF. You would have to stop the shooter and he would need to reshoot. Not sure about any penalties for the other shooter. If it wasn't intentional then I wouldn't press it on a first offense. Now to the rule book to see whether there are any grounds for my response.
  10. Oh, I like that one. It even seems logical.
  11. I clicked primed for another government conspiracy theories. Really cool stuff the Marine Corps museum is just down the road and is pretty amazing. I will love too see this stuff when the doors finally open.
  12. That would be a cool set up. I really like the TS but it makes my SP01 feel like a featherweight by comparison. Here's hoping that 2015 gives us a Production legal CZ long slide with all the trimmings.
  13. The DSG looks like a nice carry holster. It you have the option then configure it goes outside the waistband. How many pouches doesn't your friend have and will they fit your mags? I have two loose blade tech kydex single match pouches that I use for CZ but I think I ordered it for a Beretta. I think Sig mags are similar to the Beretta so maybe they might work but you would have to try it. You would have to come by for them sometime before your match since I am not going. For Production I like to have at least 4 pouches but 3 could get you by with another mag in your back pocket. If less then 3 just shoot limited minor and load u your high caps if you have them. PM me if interested.
  14. I got a CZ TS in 9mm for 3 gun and have been setting it up similar to the CTS. Out of the box the trigger was 1lb 14oz. It ran flawlessly stock. After I put the extended basepads and large mag well on it I had a minor issue. The mags weren't seating properly so I had to remove some material from the magwell and extensions and then it was good to go. I also switched out the trigger, hammer and a few other things and after tuning the overtravel and pretravel the gun is 100% with anything I have put in it.
  15. Would a ACCUed SP01 Shadow Target Custom be Production legal? I haven't seen that specific option on the CZC site.
  16. Tony, I am saving my hall pass for the Peacemaker 3 gun match on March 15th. Good luck at SoMD. Do you have all the gear you need? Alma
  17. Just change the WMP settings to ensure that it converts CD and AAC files to MP3 instead.
  18. I should mention that I started with an Uncle Mike's kydex(plastic) holster, and two cheap Fobus double man pouches. It actually work very well for me for quite awhile and with exchange of those three items being under $20 it was a great deal. Most recommend to try to just use what you have or borrow for the first few matches so you can see what others are running and get a better idea of what you want to do.
  19. What gun do you have? Check out the three brands I mentioned. Even though many USPSA Production shooters run a "dropped offset" holster you should likely get a standard kydex holsters that isn't low to ensure that it will be legal for IDPA. Another alternative is get the Blade Tech DOH sine the dropped offset attachment can be removed for IDPA compliance. Most use a standard outside the waistband belt looped holster with a straight drop. For IDPA you need two mag pouches of your belt and for USPSA Production I run at least 4. All of the above mentioned holster makers are likely to have some type of competition bundle that will combine the most popular holster with a few standard mag pouches to get you started.
  20. Tony, Welcome. JM 930s show up here regularly. This was a few lines down in the classifieds. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=190889#entry2111421 What matches will you be shooting?
  21. Not for competition. Most kydex holsters lock around the trigger guard enough to keep the gun firmly in the holster but snap out quickly during a draw. Serpas aren't popular and some ranges don't allow them because the release puts your finger right by the trigger and accidental discharges have been experienced. Blade tech is popular as is CompTac and Center of Mass kydex (CoMKydex). All re great. What division were you thinking about shooting as that could help to determine what would be best to use.
  22. Missed a 0 there. Should be $1000. Would it be cheaper to buy an old 75 B gun and use the top from that?
  23. Yeah... There is a lot of debate about whether or not particular rules make sense but I doubt any one has come up with a good "tactical" reason why it's okay to drop an empty mag if you are completely empty but not okay if you have one in the chamber.
