  1. I will be at both. After shooting the Pro Am last year with Iron sights, I thought that I would have a go with a revolver at Steel. I also shot Open Revolver, and came in behind Jerry for 2nd. I will be shooting Open at the IRC, but Iron sights for the Nationals of course ( provided I can get a slot ) Be afraid, be very afraid...........
  2. Ok Guys, time for me to weigh in on this issue. I welcome the change for a number of reasons, but for me ( and that is the only performance that I am concerned with at the IRC ) the standards definitely skew my match. In the past when I have access to a 50 yard range, and be able to practise the standards, I have done better, than when I have not had access. When I shoot a " bad " standards at the match, it has a sharp reflection to my score, and if I decide to "try" to make it up on the field courses, it can compound. I love the IRC and ICORE in general, and nothing will keep me away, and for the last 5 years I have heard lots of people ask for the Standards to be taken out all together. I think that the decision to make this modification is a great compromise. It will take the stress out of missing the target for shooters that don't have the skills to complete the standards, and for those that have the skills, but a reload goes bad, they won't be throwing away the whole match on one stage. ( This has not happened to me, but I know a lot that it has happened to ) I also believe that this change is a reflection of a poll of the competitors, so obviuosly there are more people that wanted it changed than those who did not. ( I did not vote in the poll ) So once again congrats to Nelson for listening to the competitors, to provide a match that they want. For those that don't welcome the change and enjoy shooting X's under pressure, there are still plenty of slots open for this years Bianchi Cup. ( by the way, even at the Bianchi Cup, you get more time to shoot than we had on the standards ) I'll be at both. Enjoy Mark
  3. Haven't Practised Haven't cleaned gun, Haven't loaded Haven't packed, Haven't told wife I am going, Ready as I'll ever be...... See yall Friday.
  4. Vaguely....I saw you at presentation at the IRC as well, just never got to shoot with you. Ah, I do remember some people shooting the older style guns with no optics at AR. Perhaps you were in that squad. You know tha Amish style iron sighted revolvers, like Ed McGiven used.
  5. I have never actually met Mike, but Doug assures me that he is not the usual " Prick " that most attorneys are. I went and had a look at his Carmonized area in the dealer forums, and after reading his policies, I am utterly impressed. My favourite is still the part about if you do something stupid, it is on you. If more people lived by this, we wouldn't need half the attorneys that there are. You could put yourself out of a day job. Kudos to you Mike. Neat Dealers forum, good information and pricing. Looking forward to meeting you at a match. Mark
  6. Ooooh, Oooohh, Oooohhh....I got a pic from S&W when the first released the V Comp years ago. I had it as my screen saver for years. Let me find it, and I will send it to you. Mark
  7. I am a C More fan..........
  8. They would hate me, I don't know the rules. I just go to matches and shoot what I have. I have been shooting Open for so long ( using and Eight shot ), they wouldnldn't even recognise that I have a revolver.
  9. That is some of the closest scores I have seen for a long time. I want Todd and Eric drug tested before and during the IRC. This closing the gap nonsense has to stop.
  10. When I practise ( twice a year ) I shoot a stage as fast as I can, and then score them, and then as fast as I an shooting A's only, and then I score them, and then as fast as I can shooting X's only and then I score them. When I compare the three scores ( not deducting 1 second per X ) I always score better when I shoot as fast as I can shooting all X's. Why: Because when you shoot as fast as you think you can hitting X's only, your misses tend to be A's, so that is my philosophy. Ideally you should always practise with one eye closed, standing on your weak side leg, with weak hand only, and then when you get to a match, everything else seems easy.
  11. Normally 17 plates each....ideally 2 reloads regardless of gun. To win, 17 rounds is all you need.
  12. You don't have to use your gun for the shootoffs. You can alway borrow an eight shot, or bring em both. The shootoffs have nothing to do with the main match.

  15. Yahoo.......We might get them on the guns by the cup yet............ Hey mate have you got your shroud and is it fitted up yet. Still Waiting......... Yahoo, the mail man dropped it off last night. I haven't had a chance to fit it up yet, but it looks like it will work well. I will give you an update once it is fitted.

  17. I agree with Mike. I have one of everything that Smith makes with eight holes, and even though I use my ( completely rebulit and modified ) Super, I could and have had the same results with it's .38/.357 conterparts. Something else that these informal votes don't take into account is lots of people vote yes, but their chequebook votes no. Deposits are the only way to gauge genuine interst and numbers. Sorry be be a cloud on what appears to be a proactive move. On the upside.....they still make a 627 PC 5' gun, and they even offer a low dollar ( by comparison ) pro version, so there are still plenty of competitive opportunities to choose from.
  18. Tread carefully Mike....As much as I like Tammy, she did marry David, so one could wonder, exactly how sharp is she?
