  1. Pretty slick might also work for air soft, instead of propane
  2. This is one of those questions like what brand of beer, truck, car,Nascar Driver etc do you like! It will depend on how you like to do things and in which order. I use a Harvey deprimer that I modified for stuck primers. http://www.harveydeprimer.com/ For the sticking/tight primers I use a small punch and light hammer I do it watching the tube as it becomes almost a no brainer have did about 20,000plus 5.56/.223, 9mm I do it before the first run thru the Lizard litter, Nu finish used dryer sheet. Keeps all the left over curd in the caps out of the litter. I don't find that the wet tumble and SS pins adds anything to the casings. besides I have did enough wet SSpins in jewelry making and stone work. There are thoses that will not do it any other way. I also have a sonic cleaner and just don'y think the extra steps and time gives me any benifit. Of course I'm only punching holes in paper @ an indoor range You can try a couple of batches both ways and see which you preffer. Doing it before sonic will keep the ynuit cleaner.
  3. Local gun show yesterday and this week end, Had plenty of reloading components, and assorted ammo. Prices on ammo haven't started there slide down some, most are higher then the LGS Brown Bear sporting goods. BBSG has a good assortment of powder types and jug sizes. Gun show is at the gilbratar trade center off of I-94 in Mount Clemens Mi.
  4. I love my Dillon 600 swager too. BUt here are some visual indicators that they are military brass that has been crimped. the crimps circle and 4 corners. The circle with the cross inside a mil ord symbol. Not an indicator of mil crimp, but that the primers are sealed in and may reqiure extra to coke out. I have seen it in red, blue, green and purple. Some hand loaders use cleqar nailpolish too.
  5. Not to tease the less fortunate here is what was on the shelf's at Brown Bearn spoting goods and range during the bullseye shoot last night. And sorry they don't do mail, email internet or phone orders. And for those that are close for a road trip. They are located in Mascomb county mich.
  6. I have posted a coupon wiki site link in the past for HF coupons. They updated the site and the coupon attachments can longer be found. Well this one has them all and for the curious even the inside track club coupons. But be warned that unless you have the card you can't use those coupons. But you can get an idea of what they are and if you think it is worth it. http://www.hfqpdb.com/
  7. The pancake compressors from Harbor Freight work well, and you can use them for filling tires when needed. Can't beat their money back gaurantee http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/air-compressors/3-gal-13-hp-100-psi-oilless-pancake-air-compressor-61615.html I will also say that that style goes on sale often. And the extended warranty is worth it for a walk in and carry a new one out. Here is a web site for Harbor Freight coupons. 20 to 25% off the sale price. http://slickdeals.net/f/1276399-Harbor-Freight-Coupon-Thread For PC users there are coupons toward the bottom of the page, that you can print out. I have just started switching over to Mac and can't find them on it yet.
  8. No I don't collect data manuals as in older versions, I found that when I started to get interested in handloading, The best and easiest source of information to have access to waqs the sections in all the manuals on how to do it. And in reading the sections I found the descriptions of the manuals equipment company tools enlightening, It also was a good indicator of who and w\hats is avaible to use. The internet is nice for some stuff, but sadly there are too many "Legends in their own minds" so not everything is correct or true on the web. Just some of the U-tube vids are a good examples of A lot of streching the facts to promote them selfs or interests. Books on the other hand tend to have more correct info if published by better companies. But I understand that the collecting of older data loading manuals is a section of the hobby in the reloading hobby. Knowledge is power, and the more you have the better one can enjoy the hobby. I admit that I am a book junkie and also that I buy used, and what are called remainder books from one of the largests dealers. They have them up to 80% off list price. http://www.hamiltonbook.com/online_catalogs?utm_source=erhbc&utm_medium=print&utm_content=%2Fhck&utm_campaign=hck Great source for books on most subjects, Firearms&knifes are in the hunting and fishing section http://www.addall.com/ the best world wide Book Search and Price Comparison http://used.addall.com/ If you are interested in only used and out of print books. And of course Amazon books for new and used is also a good source and a better deal if you have prime. I also understand that a lot of people won't want all of the books on a subject, but if there is a list of what is available out there people can pick choose what best fits their interest
  9. Well there are the load data books from the powder and bullet companies. Picking one would be hard and is sort of like asking the questions which beer, car/truck, whiskey or women or man, or NASCAR driver does one likes? That can be a large can of worms. As I have said I am new to the hobby and only currently punching holes in paper at my local range. So my expertese is limited. Most say that you should have multiple load data manuals. I am a fan of Nonte and his Modern Reloading which is a classic. As for the reloading books that explain the steps and proceedures all of those listed but the two short booklets in post #8 are worth the money. The two books in post #6 are currently availible @ the Hamilton book site for reduced prices. I have no connection to them other than a long time satisfied customer. I have found that I have leanerd something from each of them. But then again I am a book and reading junkie!
  10. And don't forget a great source of info the catalogs from the powder and equipment makers along with the larger sellrs. Brownells reloading division
  11. Another good read is Here are two that aren't the worlds best books on reloading but for a fast read they are ok And it is an overview
  12. And more: And being new to reloading and renewing my particapation in the shooting sports some of the goto and bedrock volumes I am including. This should be a must read for all people in the reloading hobby, By major George C Nonte it covers everything from primers to the manufacture of powders. and why it takes so long from start to finish. It would eliminate a lot of the silly rumors that are floating on the net about things. He also did a short volume on reloading. Available on Amazon
  13. Here are some of the books I have, also a good source for books on all subjects, but currently have 92 titles in the fire arms and knife section. http://www.hamiltonbook.com/products/search?q=&find=Find%20%C2%BB&cat_id=FIK Some titles are up to 80 % off list price. Also being new and a book junkie here are the title in my collection:
  14. I have and use the WFT, I also have and my FA case prep center. I like both of them
  15. the WFT is made to be used in a drill press or hand drill. The standard threads on the FAP prep center are currently the same as almost any of the others. See my post #6 for the WFT in a drill press.
  16. Went by the local gym, looked in the windows, it definitely not the place for me! All it did is remind of that gym TV commercial with the muscle guy that keep repeating I lift THINGS! I did one lap back to the truck, and home. I figured that I could do everything in the same amount of time it would be drive back and forth and changing etc.
  17. Well like a lot of people on here I have decided to get in better shape, by the way of exercise. Having hit the mid 60's this past year. Not a gym type, some thing I could do at home with minimal low cost equipment. We have owned most of the big named machines for the home, Wife was the driving force behind the purchases. Every single one ended up being a clothes hanger in one room or another before making their way to one of the local charities. So this time I decided to keep it low and cheaper tech. I also wanted to improve my fitness level to improve my shooting in the local leagues at the range. Only been shooting actively for two years, and league for 10 weeks and starting another one soon. In looking around for an easy start I found Aldi's has equipment on sale, every couple of months. At better prices than most discounters. The first set I bought were wrist and ankle weight with 1.1 weights. I put the weights on the ankles and wrists in the mornings and wear them all day. I do take the wrists ones off if I am going some place I will have to take the coat off. I started with 4 sets of 25 rep's over the course of a day and then increasing to 50 reps. This is from a sitting position with elbows on knees bringing hands to head level. I spread them over the day/night. After a couple of weeks I in creased the weight of each of the weights. As over the course of 40 years the wife collected an assortment of them. You can get cheaper vinyl covered weights at Wally World type stores. I have progressed to starting on 10 pounders today. And intend to start with lifting from my sides in a standing position, till I can get them straight out and hold for a minute. My mother lives in an assisted living apt. they have an in house Rehab/PT I asked about the pedal exerciser that I see every time I walk by their door. They said it is good for low impact for both the arms when used on the table and legs when on the floor. I also bought one of those ab rollers, I can say that I can feel the burn as they say when I use it. Every other day, and I am double the length of time for each series before adding more reps. I bought it at the local Meijers stores, in the Great Lakes area for $29.99 no shipping fees. Cheaper than TV and you get the free knee pads. I am not trying for 6-8 pack ab's at my age, because even if I did achieve something that resembled them I probably still be two bottles short! The pedal exerciser is the same model they use at the rehab center my mother was at and at her apt Drive Medical exercise peddler They sell them locally in most of the big box sporting goods stores and exercise equipment places. Same number but they vary from $54.99 to $79.99. Best price was on Amazon with the prime and 2 day shipping. I have started with 10 minutes a day with the arms and 10/15 minutes with the legs. So far it seems to be working well. I was thinking of that trigger trainer trigger trainer but the price put me off. plus I have one of those fake pistols for use with my laser training targets. What I found will probably work just as well. I first used the hand squeezers, but I quickly over came the spring tension. I then found the Grip master, they have a number of different styles. The one in the photo is 9 a pounder spring and figured that would work. I do 3 sets of 10 reps of squeeze and hold for 3 seconds. Along with the dry fire practice, laser targets, range days I hope to improve my fitness level a notch or two. For not a lot of money, or machines that take up a lot of space. You can start on your path to improvement too!
  18. This was a couple of weeks ago @ the LGS in Clinton Township Mi. they have since gotten another couple of deliveries. and was pricing and putting it out on the shelf when I was there last time. that price is about what the current 8 pounders are selling for. for some brands, it varies from $189.00 to $215.00 depending on the flavor you want. It still is below what they are charging at the local gun show each month. He had some Clays and titegroup just coming out of the boxes. The variety seems to be expanding.
  19. yep on my breech lock by Lee mine just snaps in and out some times to easily. It could be rusted or glued in, you my have to tap it gently on the opposite side of the opening notch of the ram to get it out.
  20. I also ordered the 600-Swager tool and it was here fast. Brian reads the posts so he should answer soon.
  21. As with a lot of what the government tells us is bad it is almost impossible to get enough in your system unless you eat and swallow it. It does effect children faster, but that is due to them chewing on the lead chips, flakes along with the smaller body systems they have and faster traveling time in a smaller body. Nitrile are better for chemicals and other grease based material, I do use the nitrile gloves when doing some tasks with reloading. But mostly to keep my hands clean. And easier clean up. I also wear them working in the shop and on vehicles. Can't beat them, After painting banners, and signage for years, with lead based paint. Along with the solvents some of which are neuro-toxions As they became widely available I started using them. With the Harbor Fright nitrile,s on sale every other month and the discount coupons for 20 or 25% you can't beat em. The heavier weight are better, less tearing and more puncture resistant. I can say that I know a couple of strippers that would palate the brush on the palm of the hand for 30 years and no increase in lead levels. But started using gloves anyway made clean up easy! It is a personnel preference thing.
  22. With stainless pins it would start to work harden the brass, with the constant hammering of the pins and brass together. After a couple of firing check them for signs of splitting etc.The constant hammering is what is refereed to as cold forming in metal working and jewelery work makes the metal harder. Which isn't what is wanted in reloading. Even dry media tumbling the cases bumping against each other can induce some hardening of the brass. So careful inspections before reloading is a must. We aren't talking a lot of hardening but it is something to take into consideration.
