  1. 100% donated, they also have some other great T shirts and items http://relentlessdefender.com/dallas-strong-challenge-coin-100-proceeds-donated/
  2. A while ago, a years or so a police officer came up with the idea of using a blue light bulb in the porch light to show support for the police officers that were shot. This was before the war on police started. I think it time to bring back the idea and spread it across the USA With the new LED bulbs, they give a lot of light and use little electricity. I leave ours on 24/7 you can see it blocks away in either direction. If you like the idea please pass it on.
  3. I use a Harvey depriming tool while watching the tube, before tumbling. I have a tray set up with a container to catch the powder crap/curd and inspect each case along with separating any other sized cases. plus remove any wrinkles in the mouth of the case area. The above shows the 5.56mm I use it on 9mm, .50 AE, and .50 beowulf
  4. For what it is worth I was told that it indicates military ordinance ammo. have no idea if it is true or not. but it does look like the little device used to signify thinks that may go boom!
  5. I ordered the Bondic brand adhesive from Amazon, they have a couple of good deals and with the prime membership shipping is free. I ordered the one set that came with two extra tubes of the adhesive. For a lot less than the TV version. I wanted to use it on my case trimmers I have dedicated ones for the desert Eagle .50A.E. and the .50 Beowulf, I put something to act like handles on each and then I can keep both the shell holder and base together with the large trimmer and proper cal bar. In the re-purposed drill/tap containers, since they don't see much use with the straight wall casings. After drilling the correct sized hole for the shaft, I then counter sunk the hole edge to give the adhesive a larger area to grip. I washed the machining oil residue of it before mounting it in the die, have a bunch left over from the magic trick manufacturing days. After seating I apply the adhesive in the counter sunk area. Now the only thing that didn't work right was the length of time they said to expose the adhesive to the light. I double the amount of time not less than 5 sec as I moved it around the adhesive line. Just remember that this adhesive only will work were the light cures it. It worked equally well on the steel to cheap plastic the dice are made from, and the wood small file handles to the steel of the shell holder mount. My file handles required that the hole be enlarged. I tried to twist them apart with more force than they will receive in use. This adhesive works as advertised.
  6. Recently in looking for the head space gauges for my .50 A E and .50 Beowulf I came across this company and their gauges .50 Beowulf 5.56/.223 They have other large bore ones both slot and unslotted. They also will be coming out with 9mm Sheridan Engineering Just a satisfied customer!
  7. At the Novi Mi show admission is between $5.00/10.00 a person, and parking is about the same. They closed the Taylor Gibraltar trade center, So the only other one is this weekend at the Mount Clemens Gibraltar trade center. (once a month). It is $2.00 parking and $5.00 per person. So I would say that the big box stores or even the LGS/range has better prices. If you live in the area that gets the local shopping paper they do put a free parking on Fridays in it. but it is good only on Fridays. I have only been going to the Mount Clemens shows for a year again I am able to go on Fridays, Most of what I have seen is over priced. I will admit that I have gotten a couple great deals. Mostly because I was looking for some un common items and the vendors were tried of carrying them around. I generally go to see two friends that sell at the gun shows, D&G tools and Medic man. I have found that Amazon has some great prices on reloading and gun stuff, I haven't checked to see if they sell powder or not.
  8. A word and caution about buying used books on amazon, Be careful as a lot of the "dealers" selling out of print books think because they are they are worth a ransom. generally they aren't. Also check on Amazon their used books biz is growing larger by the day. Nonte's Classic Modern hand loading covers all aspects including powder manufacturing. Most of the bullet makers data manuals cover aspects of it, on Amazon with the newer books you can look inside the book it generally covers the inde/chapter listing and selected area's.
  10. Here is a new one you may find of interest Gun digest books ISBN978=1-4402-4531-2 Trade paperback copyright 2015 Philip P Massaro This is the new edition with the latest trends, and has a catalog of components, and equipment from most of the major brands. The information half has full color clear and bright photos. the catalog section has clear B&W photo's The editor has a number of books on the art and science of reloading. I enjoyed the read There are a number of specialized sections that have no interest for me. So I skipped them. 16 featured stories, on wild cats, ackley,s parent cases, classic hunting revolvers. Along with stuff for beginners and old hands. There are two book excerpts, and metallic and shotshell reloading catalogs. It can seem a little pricey At the suggested retail of $34.99. But on the ZON with prime it was around $26.99 Gun Digest Books.com has stuff on sale right now. All in all I found it to be worth it for me.
  11. Came in the mail today. From the Chris Kyle foundation Chris Kyle Frog - Home Page
  12. I collect them when I see some I like, there are some very unatractive ones out there. Here are some for this holiday season, all have a common reverse. these are from the Golden state mint and they have some in silver also. Buy Copper Bullion & Bars Directly from Golden State Mint
  13. More likely it was water one thing to remember is that white vinegar or any vinegar is Acetic acid! Something also to consider is that vinegar is used to remove galvanized plating off of hardware pior to welding to a void the zinc fumes. So be advised that the vinegar takes zinc from the brass, granted not much but repeated uses do add up. the 3 factors that are used in metal clening and ptina's are time, temp and strength of the patin or cleaner. Full strength 4 hours soak and shake. you can see the flash rusting starting when the items are taken out of the vingar and just dried. If you do use this rinse after removing the brass and dry. Rinsing neutrilizes the action of Acetic acid.
  14. +1 on the propane, over the green gas as it appears it is green in name only! Most are a mix of propane and other gases. Also check out the supplies on Amazon by looking you can find better prices than local, And get your reloaders for the BB's from Amazone look for the three packs a lot cheaper than the crossmans 2 packs at Wally World. The loaders all appear tpo be made in the same factory in China and with kids they will break fast. Follow the oring lube info from the gun and mags. Remember that using propane in low temps will cause it to loose power/pressure fast. The adapters from the propane cylinder to mags are on Amazon. Along with aluminum BB's
  15. I have the laser lyte blue gun the pro model the target and the cans. I have found that this brand works sort of I was having problems with the laser target sent it back and the told me there isn't any thing wrong with it and sent it back. Most of the hits register but the laser has to hit the receptor yes there are 64 of them. The big but is the recptors are sensitive to sunlight so in high sunlite areas,it tends not to work well. The cans are another story I had them set up and plinking away as the sun started coming in thru the windows. The cans would strat jumping like for the older people the Mexican jumping beans. I called the company and one of the service techs admited that the sun light will set off thr solenoid rapid firing. The pro model is a pain in the a$$, to get it in any of my 3 Glock 9mms. I also have their.22 version and it fits and works better. I also have the laser ammo deluxe kit, and the 12 gauge adapter it fits easily and well in the Glocks and works with the Laserlyte target and the laser ammo small targets. I'm thinking of getting the laser pet 3 kit. I like their shooting range programs. But I no longer have a windows computer. And they don't currently have them for mac's. I find that I use the laser ammo one more. The airsoft idea is nice plus I already have that model pistol.
  16. I have the large HF one and haven't used it for brass as it has been said it may or may not do the job you want. I do use it for other items and for most things it works well. Have done some gun parts but you have do do numerpus syscles to get it clean along with they do work better when tused on the heat cycle. Aldso a low sudsing mild detergent will work in them. Do not use any type of flammable solvent in any brand of sonic cleaner as most have open contact switches and the spark can set off a boom! So legends in thier own minds on the net postred the use of solvents. I use simple green or the purple cleaner by castrol.
  17. Since I do 9mm and 5.56/.223 only and bought a lot of military range brass. This is how I handle the bent necks. they are a cheap pair of the slipt ring pliers. I just slide down the cartridge and spin it around till most of the dent or ding is gone the the sizing die takes care of the rest. I use a harvey depriming tool,so I am inspecting each brass and do them as needed. With a a plastic tray I do them while watching the tube, it holds everything and keeps the mess contained. Harvey deprimer Buy a couple of extra primer pusher rods, as you can break them when you aren't paying attenion I did but only one so far. 14,000 plus .556's around 12,000 9mm car6tridges. Works great!
  18. Here are two in a series, of load books by http://www.loadbooks.com As you can see from the covers they are plastic spiral bound lay flat books. and what they cover as far as the powder and bullet makers info. It also shows the number of loads, bullets and powders inside them I will warn people that there are a couple pages of advertising from the some of the manufactures on the cover. And they do have a nu,ber for off mainstream cartridges. Everything you want for one cartridges. The Weatherby book cover many Weatherby cartridges. There is one on T/C contenders, covers about 25 unique cartridges, a must have for contender collectors. This one isn't for data or load info. It is about getting started in reloading of metallic cartridges. Covers tools, equipment, tips and tricks. Great color photo's and it covers all brands. It generally is on sale @ hamilton books for a nice reduction in price. See my post above for the link.
  19. Winchester Press copyright 1972 ISBN 0-876791-046-0 This is one of those classics that every new loader should read and have on their shelf. Has all kind of great info in it the chapters on how powder is made. Along with the inherent problems in its manufacture, Since it really hasn't change in a long time it does shed light on what can contribute to the shortages when the plants have problems. From history and development of the hobby to the basics and primers, bullets, smokeless powder, all the steps. load development, and so much more rifle, handgun, black powder and shot shell loading. There are also numerous charts, tables, and reference materials. He does cover the manufacture of powder and artillery shell powders. Being new to the hobby this book was suggested by a couple of members on a forum, I did find a reasonable priced copy on Amazon books. As with a lot of older titles some sellers think they have a gold mine and charge accordingly. You may have to search and wait for a copy to be come available, but it will be worth the wait. I learned a lot had questions that I didn't know I had answered before I formed the question. And I enjoyed the read greatly, thyis is one that I will reread sections over and over in the future. And as said a couple of times before ABC's of reloading I will also add that I am a book junkie so I have all the current data manuals, along with a classic or two. You can learn something from each of course if you are a mind too. Knowledge is power, and the more you have the better one can enjoy the hobby. I buy used, and what are called remainder books from one of the largest dealers. They have them up to 80% off list price. Along with lost of books on guns, hunting and fihisng. Among just about anything or subject you can think of. along with DVD's and CD. http://www.hamiltonbook.com/online_catalogs?utm_source=erhbc&utm_medium=print&utm_content=%2Fhck&utm_campaign=hck Great source for books on most subjects, Firearms&knifes are in the hunting and fishing section http://www.addall.com/ the best world wide Book Search and Price Comparison http://used.addall.com/ If you are interested in only used and out of print books. And of course Amazon books for new and used is also a good source and a better deal if you have prime. I also understand that a lot of people won't want all of the books on a subject, but if there is a list of what is available out there people can pick choose what best fits their interest
  20. I have started bullseye shooting in a league and like to have enough mags to load up for each relay. I have picked up a couple different brands on clearance or sale. They all have different means of carrying them. I tried carrying them in the range bage but I didn't think loose was a good idea. so looking around the shop I found some stuff that worked out a way that is the same no matter which pistol I shoot at the range. Here are some photos of what I did. one of the pouches, before What you need grommets, and the punch and set with a hammer to install them plus a couple split rings or the key rings to go thru the grommets, and a strap with a D snap riing. These are camo key rings I picked up at a gun show. Were I put the grommets, near the top corners of each side. Finished product, works well and is easy to swap out the pouches for taking different pistols to the range.
  21. Yep sent a link to the wife email addys are technically next to each other. Took 4 hours to get to her, they can travel around the net or just been in a que for your IP. As with everything else, the first to get them has the better chance of finding them
