  1. I have the factory TS with the full size VZ Grips and it fits my hands nicely. It feels a little chubbier than the 2011's. I have pretty large hands though and had to take the mag well off. I've shot the 2011 Edge in 40 and the CZ lays much flatter. I shot it last weekend and put up an 86% (according to USPSA Calculator) classifier. Hoping to keep using it effectively.
  2. Take it out and throw it away.
  3. You need to practice reloads to the point where you don't need to look down to find the magazine. Keep the gun higher and quick peek to load it into the gun. It'll help you move as you reload and more importantly you won't have the opportunity to lose your spacial relationship to the targets and the 180. Overall not bad though.
  4. I'd check to see if the ejector and the slide release are the same.
  5. How did you do that? Did you use something freehand like a dremel or something more guided? A small file with a safe edge works. I also have the option of taking it to work and milling it.
  6. When you retire or semi-retire staying married requires you don't spend too much time around the house. LOL
  7. One thing I noticed right off at Rio was the diversity of the shooters many have English as their second language. I get to meet people from all over who come here to shoot and improve their game. You'll meet PMC's and people from different organizations who are here to learn to shoot better. It's a very interesting mix. It's like going to Harvard to college as opposed to the local community college.
  8. The thought of giving up never entered my mind because I wasn't dead yet. LOL Why does everyone enjoy watching me fall so much? LOL
  9. It's specific to that model but installation and fitting is the same. I've got CZ Custom's on mine and love it.
  10. I've talked to people who used to live here in Az and shot at Rio regularly. They had to move for various reasons but when they started shooting at local clubs in their new communities they found they were at or near the top of the food chain. One guy said he was invited to a practice session at his new club and when he got there was surprised to find out they were waiting for him to set up drills and train them. He was, like me, used to getting whipped up on pretty badly, and had no idea of the knowledge he had absorbed here. I like it here. Just have to remember it's like being the dumb kid in the smart row and not a bad place to be. LOL
  11. I carry a Bul 1911C commander size 1911 in 45 ACP. It is my carry gun only and I have replaced the recoil system with a flatwire assembly from Wilson and have made certain it locks up right and everything is pretty much perfect. I've only shot it about 1000 times in two years because I know from experience that most 1911's need more regular maintenance than other pistols I have shot. I have the attitude that if I use a gun in competition and it gets to the point that it has a high round count that the possibility of failure becomes greater and there is no way I would bet my life on it.
  12. I tip the gun in slightly so that the elbow is better supported and I involved more of the muscles in my shoulder to help steady the gun. Lifting my thumb helps tighten my grip into the beavertail too.
  13. My wife always reminds me to load my mags because I forget too. One match I had an empty mag for my Ist reload and they said I just stopped, looked at it when I pulled it out of the mag pouch then threw it over my shoulder. They laughed for a long time over that.
  14. I'm looking at the peening and thinking that the timing of the lockup is in question. Maybe as the metal moves itself in the kidney the problem will disappear.
  15. I shoot with the pros and they have bad stages but usually don't have bad days (unless they break an ankle or something similar). They have developed the ability to recover from disasters and forget them by the time they go to the next stage.
  16. I'm an older shooter and found a small diameter fiber optic (.040"/1mm) and a narrow (.090") front sight helps. Green fiber optic is my favorite. I use a bluing pen to touch up the edges of the sights and keep them crisp as they wear to bright metal.
  17. Just want to verify Are those 2 areas hittign the SS at the recoil/go down process? The area of concern is the one you highlighted to the left.
  18. Image 1380 and 1381 have peening on the upper rear part of the kidney. It's hitting hard there as it goes back into battery. There is a small burr that is pushed up in that region too. Are you using a good lube (grease) in that area?
  19. I shoot steel much better than USPSA. Stand and shoot and no A-zone is nice. You look pretty good. I'd just make sure to do some snap drills in dry fire where you move your eyes to the next target then snap the gun to your eyes. I noticed that your runs start strong then your times deteriorate. It should go the other way. You may be starting at a comfortable level then pushing a bit then exceeding your ability. The time to push is in practice or on the last run if you have a throwaway and have nailed them so far. I'm right handed and like to face the furthest right hand target because it's easier to rotate left for a righty. Keep up the good work. :-)
  20. I've put over 3000 rounds of 180 PF through my Tac Sport in 40 and the slide stop is polished but not gouged as yours appears to be. Do the holes through the frame have sharp edges or burrs on them. Check the kidney that it rides in under the barrel for burrs on the edges too. Any sharp edge can make a groove which can start a crack to form. I ran the original spring in it until 500 rounds ago and I replaced it with the flatwire 19 pound spring. Now my brass stays within 6 feet instead of 15 to 20.
  21. The game this weekend is senior friendly. Bianchi Match @ UPPL. Stand and shoot. Can do it with my walker. LOL
  22. At her size a more aggressive stance may be better to help control the gun. I always had the new shooters walk left and right and up and downrange with the gun (unloaded) to get used to always keeping the muzzle downrange and the finger off the trigger. Always facing downrange means that most will keep the gun directly in front of them when they turn the first time.
  23. You may get away with restoring the surfaces to sharp angles with a stone. Try doing the sear first and see if it works. They are junk so it's okay if you take a chance and ruin them. My Shadow hammer actually had a dimple in it from hitting the firing pin and I stoned it flat again. The hooks and sear on mine look good but I took the over travel screw out at the beginning. I have no idea of the round count but it's up there.
  24. Some pistols require a 6 o'clock hold and others a "combat" zero which is the center of the dot at center mass. Sounds like yours is the latter if you are getting repeatable results. Get new sights.
