  1. I like the Smoke and Hope 10 and 12 stages. I do not like the idea of multiple shots on the same target.
  2. Where I shoot generally only the very slow, old, deaf and half blind get coaching on hits and misses.
  3. My brother's steel challenge times got a lot better after he started shooting in a GSSF indoor league.
  4. Those would just gather dust at my house. I can't make myself dry fire. Tood, may have already said this but the Nosler Custom Competition 185 grain bullets are real good also. They cost more than Zero but less than HAP but actually shot better in my pistol than the HAPs. It is my understanding that the AMU uses the Noslers.
  5. 185 grain Zero JHPs shoot real good in my G21 and G30. My load is light enough that I don't trust it 100% but it has not choked yet in a GSSF match. They don't eject hard enough to put one all the way to my face.
  6. Based on the scores where I shoot I don't think they make much difference at the club level either. I'm convinced that a couple of guys shoot limited for no other reason than avoiding coming in dead last in production.
  7. I would agree if it were a shooter that has been to a few matches, but if he's new to the game I'd not be so demanding. We've had folks that we tell "just show up with what you have" come to matches. We loan them mags or someone loads for them while they shoot. After a match or two and they get all their gear together it isn't an issue. No, he believed you should have enough mags for the WHOLE match. 39 mags all loaded up and ready to go for an eight stage match. We have had guys show up with two or three mags and it never causes a problem. It would get old if they kept doing it match after match though.
  8. I bet you will be faster with the carbine in steel challenge.
  9. Zack, I got into an argument with a guy on another forum because he insisted that it was poor form not to have enough mags to shoot the whole match without reloading.
  10. I just looked at the results from the 2015 championship: Average time of the top three finishers in both divisions Production 90.93 Limited 90.89
  11. I can't see anything wrong with that myself. You would need open and iron divisions in rimfire also. All divisions can load magazines to whatever capacity they want.
  12. What kind of visions issues are you dealing with? Old man eyes. I don't need much correction to read but the sights are very blurry without reading glasses, which of course make everything else blurry.
  13. I have decided to shoot the next few months with corrected vision even if it makes me take a few steps back at first. If that doesn't get me past my current plateau I'm going to be looking hard at an open gun.
  14. You have the no battery Trijicon RMR on your G17? What is the B class aggregate for open?
  15. The magazine limits don't make a lot of sense for steel challenge. A possible unintended consequence might be noobs shooting 17 rounds per string with their Glocks. We have an informal (I've never seen enforced) no reload rule where I shoot. Not a sanctioned match before anybody gets upset.
  16. That could also be very helpful for clubs that don't have 35 yard bays. Also, would be nice to have a stage with 50 yard shots for those that have room.
  17. I would like for them to eliminate the movement entirely on Outer Limits and only have one shooting box on Showdown. Or, toss those two stages and come up with two more.
  18. I haven't tried the precision delta. I use Berrys for practice and HAP for matches. I did just get a few thousand Zero 115 grain JHP that seem promising, nearly as accurate as the HAP and a little bit better price.
  19. The 115 grain X Tremes didn't shoot very well in my G17 either.
  20. I would be against a minimum power factor. The idea of super light loads is intriguing but I have yet to go down that road. I use 115 grain bullets loaded to the bare minimum that will give reliable function with a stock Glock. My ammo is about the least of my problems as far as being competitive with the top shooters at our club match.

    G34 Shooting High

You look like you have a pretty good zero and as long as you don't monkey with it a whole bunch your Glock should run reliably. Shoot that thing as much as you can and have fun. Figure out more niceties as you go.

    G34 Shooting High

Looks like a good zero to me.
  23. Shooting GSSF matches, 11 yards from low ready, I occasionally can break 4 seconds. Average is about 4.5.
  24. Thanks for all the ideas. I'm definitely going to try some new things this month.
