  1. It sounds like you are almost there, at least with the rifle/scope and the pistol. I shot the 3G Sunday and did okay, no penalties and hit all the long range targets. In that match they also do a 2G, just rifle and pistol...
  2. Hey the match Sunday was really tough, but fun....good setup and really enjoys the long range. Mike P.
  3. I just used TACCOM loaders for the 2nd time in a match - love them, and they are fast if you get them working...
  4. I just bought a Vortex 1-6X24 HD, and used it for the first time in a 3G match yesterday - awesome. The red dot is perfect, almost so there is no need for a backup sight (should have one). The same day I looked through a Swaro 1-6 sight, they are nice but I am also happy with my Vortex and their warranty is lifetime and basically fix it if it breaks, Swaro I think not so much and that was my deciding factor. I sighted in the Razor at 200 yard...and it is on a AR platform.
  5. I use the Dillon 650 and load 9 and 45. I had the same problem with the OAL if I setup doing one at a time...the shell plate I found needs cases in each station then fine tune the OAL, if not they would be off.
  6. Welcome, I am also a newbie to the forum...
  7. I just shot my 1st 3 G match yesterday at North Texas Multi gun using my own gear which has taken me about one year to put together and get working. The last items, the rifle and scope I had to save up a few penny’s, but it is sweet and a good setup. Best of luck. Pistol - Glock 17 ( new sights and springs) Shotgun - Benelli M2 work on by Triangle Shooting (Benny Hill) JP Enterprises - CRT-02 with Vortex 1-6X24 scope
  8. I agree on the glock, when I first started I used a SIG X-5 tactical...It is a awesome gun, but finicky when it came to my reloads and primers used, plus ridiculously hard to find gear (holsters etc.). So I transitioned to a glock getting ready for the Glock GSSF match in Dallas and the thing eats all my reloads, parts are everywhere and they work - period. They feel and look dinky, but the natural "point of aim" makes them work. I have the G17 gen 4 and have switched out to the Sevigny sights and lighter springs to keep if feeling stock but a little smoother trigger. Now, for the 1911. I use a Colt Special Combat in competitions because it works and is a awesome gun to shoot, that and I love Colts....So you just need to get a good 5" inch 1911 that works for you and lots of good magazines. Good luck and have fun.
  9. I use a stock Glock 17 then sometimes switch to a Single Stack .45 in a IDPA match for fun. Get good with the stock stuff.
  10. Shoot it how you know you will hit things...if that is to slow down a fraction then do it. Head or the A zone doesn't matter - only the good shots count.
  11. Smooth and fast...and In steel matches you have to hit your first target.
  12. Hey Fellow Texan, i plan on doing the 3G match this weekend in Waxahachie at the ETTS range w/North Texas Multi Gun. It’ll be my first time. I will be using a M2 Benelli, Glock 17 and JP rifle. Who is doing your shotgun work? I had mine done at Triangle shooting sports. Mike
  13. I have the big Dillon case cleaner and use 2/3 Walnut to 1/3 corn with Dillon Rapid polish...I ran out of walnut and now using 100% corn and that is doing the job just fine for pistol (9 and 45) brass. When I remember I will als use a dryer sheet to keep the dust down.
  14. I just ordered some Taccom caddies...practiced with them and they are fast. I may still utilize my California Competition caddies for slugs/buck shot...Any thoughts on this setup?
  15. American Security (Amsec) - find the spot you want it bolted to and get the largest that will fit. Like the name says, it is American made and UL rated.
  16. You cannot go wrong with the 650 or ordering from Brian...i got mine last November and it has paid for itself already. Plus it was free shipping! I only load 9 and 45. Mike
  17. Check out the DAPS web sight and their schedule for USPSA matches at the ETTS range in Waxahachie...I had fun shooting that match. They also do IDPA matches but in Dallas.
  18. It truly is a never ending "hobby". The hardest for me to setup was the shotgun. I ended up buying a friend’s M2 that was somewhat tuned, then sent it to Benny Hill at Triangle Shooting to lighten the bolt, add and setup POA front sight and opened the receiver...they did a great job and I would recommend going that route to save some headaches. Before all that I was loading weak hand and now with the opened receiver I will start loading strong hand using Taccom Shell caddies. I got those off this sight used. What type of rifle? I just got mine after a long wait in November along with a Vortex 1-6 X 24 scope and use a G17 with Sevigney sights and some lighter springs - basically stock.
  19. I plan on attending my first 3-Gun match this weekend at the ETTS range in Waxahachie, Texas. I do not know about you guys, but it has taken me about 1 year to put together all the gear needed including working out all the bugs – I hope J I started in competitive shooting about 1 year ago focusing on Steel matches, IDPA and USPSA style matches.
  20. I use WST or Clays with BBI boolits in a G17 - I have had no issues. I use this in USPSA/IDPA and Steel matches. A bonus with the BBI's are the nice visable rings left in the targets
