  1. I have not heard about any Gen-3's having extraction issues. I know the early Gen-4's had an issue that Glock has since corrected. I would try some different ammo before making any changes to the gun. Rule out the ammo then diagnose the gun. I have run a few thousand rounds of that same ammo through my Gen-4 34 with no issues. Now that I am shooting hand loads my brass pretty much ejects about as far as my elbow and falls to the ground.
  2. If it is Keith's I b!tched about the night sights so they discounted me on extra mags. Work a deal.
  3. Is that from Keith's? I believe all their Blue Label 34/35's have night sights which bumps up the cost. I bought two 34's from them and both had night sights. Didn't want them but couldn't get them without.
  4. I am shooting Limited minor with a G34 Gen-$. Zev Fulcrum Ultimate trigger, Zev aluminum magwell, Zev extended mag release. Warren sights (black rear red fiber front). Tarran Tactical +6 mag extensions. Built the identical rig for my wife. We have about a combined round count of 20k since June 2013 without a single issue.
  5. Add me to the chase. TY81959 Limited D current average 35%. My last six range from 13.2%-54.4% my consistent. lol
  6. Holy crap that is a hot load. The recipe passed on to me for a 130PF is 3.4gr of Bullseye behind a 147gr bullet. Very soft shooting load that has been chrono'd.
  7. I went with the Taran Tactical's. They have been flawless for my wife and I through more than 20k rounds combined. Very easy to disassemble and clean. No tools needed.
  8. I much prefer the Gen-4 mag release. I am using the Rev extended on my 34's and 30. I have fairly small hands and the Gen-4 release is much easier for me to manipulate.
  9. Always keep an extra magazine beyond what you need for the stage in case you have a malfunction and need to dump a full mag to clear it. You may never need it but... Are you doing you own reloading? If you are you are good to go to shoot limited major with the .40cal. If you are shooting factory ammo you will be eating up a lot of time taming that recoil. When we started last June I was not reloading. So we opted to go limited minor. Thinking the points we give up shooting minor could be made up with time saved. Not sure if that was a solid plan or not. Now I am loading and can't believe the difference between a minor legal load and a factory load. Dundee will be our first official match shooting my reloads so I am hoping to see so improvement on times. I will bring a little fasctory ammo so you can see the difference back to back.
  10. LEO discount is slightly better than the GSSF price. For Limited class I did 5 mags with extensions. Probably can get by with 4. I went with the Taran Tactical and they have been flawless. The mods you want to do can all be done in under an hour. Put the money in your pocket and learn the mechanicals of your gun. Happy to walk you through it.
  11. What type of events are you shooting? Distance? A 3.5 MOA dot is more accurate than say an 8 but it is also tougher to see. An 8 MOA dot is 8" at 100 yards. At 50 yards it's 4", etc. How big is the "A" zone on your target?
  12. If the 19 fits you the 34 will be even better. Slightly longer grip and of course the longer barrel and slide. The Glock is a less expensive and more durable way to go. Usually people have a togh time transitioning from the grip angle of a 1911/2011 to the Glock.
  13. Thank you. I will contact Apex.
  14. If you join GSSF you can get the Gen-4 35 for right at $500. Sights are about $100, mag extensions about $40/ea, magwell about $75. With the Gen-4 it comes with three mags. You can save a few $ by doing it yourself. I have the tools to do the sights and the rest is just a very simple bolt on. For another $25 you can add a race connector and spring kit and have a pretty decent trigger.
  15. Invest in reloading. The payback is on going. You can tailor any round/load to suit your needs. I spent the better part of my first year (2013) in USPSA shooting factory ammo through a Glock. I had never reloaded in my life. A buddy gave me 50 rounds of ammo he runs in his Glock for Production class. It was incredible the difference the ammo made. I immediately hopped on the Dillon site and placed an order. Fast forward 2 months later. I have been practicing with my home loaded ammo using my buddy's recipe. I have shot one match with it and placed 39th overall out of 80 shooters. Not bad for a new "D" shooter shooting Limited. The field had one GM and 8-9 M's all shooting open. I am not familiar with the 3-gun rules as far as mods go. If you can a magwell is a cheap and easy mad that will make a difference. If you can change triggers look at a Zev fulcrum drop in trigger. The cost of some basic mods and basic reloading equipment won't be much different than a 2011. If you go 2011 you will still need to reload.
  16. Weather permitting we will be shooting Dundee. Was hoping to shoot TCGC this Sunday but it is supposed to pour down rain. We are Bill & Lisa. We usually get to Dundee around 8-ish so we can walk the stages before it starts.
  17. Anyone have the new Supermatch yet? I fondled one at the Shot Show and it fit me like a glove. I am considering one for my next Limited gun. Any input? Where to go for Sig mag extensions?
  18. Gooldy, fellow Oregon shooter here. I started in USPSA in June last year and like you I am hooked. I am shooting a Glock G34 in Limited Minor. It's a pretty inexpensive platform to get started and the aftermarket parts support is endless. My wife and I are both shooting 34's in Limited. We shoot Albany, TCGC (members), and Dundee primarily. We want to also hit Douglas Ridge and Eugene at some point. Let's meet at a match. After the match you are welcome to try my 34. We plan to shoot 2014 with our current gear and next year my wife will likely go open and I will either go with an STI/custom or a Sig X6 Supermatch.
  19. I am new to reloading. Using a vibratory machine with crushed walnut shells. I add a few drops of automotive polish to the media. I do not de-prime. I am not looking for a showroom shine, I just want them clean. Most match I shoot are lost brass matches so I can't recover a good portion of what I load. If I were shooting precision rifle I would take the time to de-prime and thoroughly clean them. I just finished cleaning about 10k 9mm cases. No way can I give them the showroom new love. I wouldn't have time to shoot.
  20. Anyone shooting Sig X5 or X6 in USPSA Limited? At the Shot Show I fell in love with the new Sig X6 Supermatch. My big concern is the aftermarket support is slim at best. I have not been able to find anyone producing mag extensions. Any insight?
  21. What class are you looking to shoot? Are you planning to mod your gun? Light trigger pull is great for shooting sports but a bad idea for a defense weapon. My advice is to get a dedicated gaming gun. I am a new USPSA shooter and went the low cost route. I bought a Glock G34 9mm and I am shooting Limited Minor. After changing the trigger, adding a magwell and mag extensions I knew I would not be using it for anything but competition. So far it has logged about 13k rounds and runs great.
  22. This stage I would be using sights. You have no shoots and a Virginia count. Very easy to drop a lot of points by going too fast.
  23. Someone once to me this. Don't fear the man with many guns, fear the man with only one gun.
  24. 2# if you have the Zev extended firing pin. 3# if you have the stock pin.

    Gen 4 mag well

I am running Zev magells with the factory medium beavertail on both our 34's. I had to do a slight bit of Dremel work on the beavertail to make it work. The bottom of the beavertail had to be relieved to allow the magwell plug to slide in. Remove less than 1/8" of material. Nothing from the frame.
