I hadn’t given this much thought, I always figured a bottle or two of water would be fine. Thanks for the discussion. I went and ordered some ZippFizz and Nuun tablets, both with a little caffeine boost. I’ll replace the cup of coffee I drink in the road to the match with one of these. I think it will actually be a reduction in caffeine that way. Gotta start somewhere.

I have a few, but I like the ones from Range Panda the best.

Wild ass guess is it's more COVID shortage related than anything else.
I'd be curious... I wonder what the actual sales numbers of autodrives are.
that’s sort of where I was going with my question. I wonder what percentage of 1050/1100 owners end up getting autodrives?? -

Damn, too bad none of you live up here in the MA/RI area. I over ordered last year and now have 5+ cases of their 9mm/124 gr RN that I’m selling at last years prices. I ain’t shipping, though, so you’d have to come to me.

I guess the good news is that neither one is available at the moment so it’s not like you have to decide right away which one you want.
My dilemma now is whether or not to pre-order and get myself on the list, or wait a couple of months and hope they start showing up in stock at a few places.
Does anyone know why the Mark 7 autodrives aren’t available? Are people buying them like crazy? Or are they experiencing the same COVID shortages as everyone else?

I want one, but can't justify it right now. Not really loading a whole lot with the primer shortage...
actually, now is the best time for you to buy it. Once primers become available you will be spending all your money on primers.

Things will go wrong. There is a stop switch. Sometimes you can get it stopped before you make a big mess and sometimes you can't.
Ain’t that the truth.
ive already proven I can make a big mess without automation.

FWIW, I was playing around with some 125 Zero JHP and JHP Conical to see what kind of OAL I would need for the Shadow 2 Orange. Both balanced out to 1.080" as my standard.
For my match load 147g Zero JHPs, I standardized on 1.125". Could have went longer..............
As others have stated, your barrel(s) are going to dictate the required OAL; and I can attest that most manufacturers will have different ogives that require finding that happy medium.
Thanks, I got to the range too late in the day to chrono the few I had, but since I was sighting in my red dot I ran some through when I was done and they were very accurate, but felt light in the Gen5 G34. When I switch my press back from processing to loading I’ll load up some more and chrono them before making any adjustments. I like the idea of being able to go between Precision Delta and the Montana Golds without changing anything.

I too use an endoscope to view the powder drop. Wondering if your primer view would show a clear pic of say, a primer that partially seated crooked and was smashed but still went through the press with no abnormal feedback in the handle, etc?
I loaded 600 9mm yesterday without any stoppages except component replenishment, and during my case gauging found a completed round that had one edge not fully seated and smashed flat against the case head. Federal Match SPP.
Thanks!
Damn, I don’t know if I would pick that up if I had a camera. My attention drift while reloading is close to horrendous. I start out ok, but then a cool tune comes on the radio, or I just start thinking about something else and zone out for the next 30 rounds or so.

I LOVED Production Division. It is by far my favorite division, I shot it for years. Unfortunately, aging eyesight is forcing me to Carry Optics. I wish CO was simply Production with an optic, but then again, it was nice to shoot my last match only having to do one mag change per stage.

Amanov is knocking off the Hundo patent owned by some USPSA shooters. You can decide how much that matters to you.
The Shockbottle 9mm 100-round gauge also fits nicely sideways across the top of Dillon-size Akrobins although with some OALs you'll need to lift the gauge to check the last row. Comes in handy if you load on a Mark 7, you can check while it loads.
Ben Stoeger Pro Shop has nice combination flip trays / stands.
Another good solution I never thought of. But, I think I’ll go with Southpaw’s idea for now.
Thanks. -

Just place it on top of an open 100 round ammo box while dropping the rounds in
Damn, now why didn’t I think of that ridiculously simple solution???
Thanks!

…As long as you're cleaning the Trigger Mechanism Housing relatively regularly…
By regularly, you mean at least annually, right???On the very rare occasions when I do clean my Glock, I put a drop of oil on that part of the connector, as well as a drop at the back of each slide rail and let it run down the slide. But I’m sure that all wears off at about the 6 month mark and then it gets run dry until the next cleaning.

The only 100 round that I'm aware of is the Hundo case gauge. They are great and do what you want. I do like it a little better with one of the 3D printed stands under it that allows the longer bullet lengths for my open gun to go flush with the top of the gauge.
What stands are you talking about?I was thinking I’d like to raise my Hundo up a little when I use it. I wish it was about 1/8” deeper.

There is a lot of great info here, but, I must say it sort of makes me glad I’m shooting a Glock. It may be a bit more forgiving. But, I’ll also say that as I get ready to load a new bullet I haven’t used before, I will reread this info and learn from your experience. I only use OEM Glock mags, and I know there is variance there too. But there is a lot of other great info I should have been doing right along.
Thanks.

OMG - The money I would spend if Dillon Precision was this close to my home…I would have a second mortgage to contend with and more than likely be short a wonderful wife of 39 years…Best I stay in MS….
Or, you could just drop by with all of your components and “test drive” one of their machines every now and then… -

Install on the plate calls for certain torque, and with the holosun design, the chps provided torque heads don't fit straight down.
Yes, I noticed that too. I tried to find a 2” long torch but without any luck. I ended up switching to a Trijicon SRO, so it didn’t matter, but now that I think about it I have another one coming that will get a Holosun, so I need to start looking again. -

Cuz, just a quick suggestion, I wouldn’t use red loctite, I’ve had to switch sights and the blue loctite made it difficult enough to remove the sight. Red might make it a nightmare!
I totally understand, but I don’t plan to switch sights unless they break. I think the MOS system is great for Glock, and marketing because they can make one product that works across many red dot platforms. But I’ve come to learn (a little too late) that it’s not the best thing for a competitor that knows what sight he wants to install. If I were to do it again, I’d get a regular slide and have it milled for the dot I wanted.

I had to ask them to send me extra screws for the Holosun. They really don't seem to hold up to repeated removals, getting stripped out at the heads. Has me concerned going forward. Had a similar issue with the Vortex Venom to the point I needed to get out the screw removers. I sweated that one out that I might not get the damn sight off of the slide. Truth be told that issue never existed with the MOS setup. YMMV
why do you need to keep removing the sight??? I’m getting ready to use red loctite on mine to keep them from loosening up. I wouldn’t plan to remove it unless it breaks. -

Ok but I'm not sure how asking for someone's OAL is going to help you. The ammo has to work in your firearm, not ours and other than functioning OAL doesn't significantly impact any other factors in handgun ammo (accuracy, velocity etc.)
i don’t recall actually asking for help, I was just curious, as I am about a lot of things. I’ve run 9mm ammo from 1.03x up to 1.160 over the years.
I believe that OAL primarily affects reliability, but most very does have some affect on accuracy, velocity, etc.
I really wasn’t trying to be a wise ass or anything, I was just curious. Good thing I’m not a cat, huh???
editing:ok, I just went back and re-read my original post, and I guess it does sound like I’m asking for help, so my bad. Sorry about that. I was more curious than I was asking for help, even though it might not read that way.
Major match ammo consideration
in Gear & Accessories

I wouldn’t even think of going to a major match with ammo that chrono’d below 130. I would be targeting around 133-135 PF, so I would have one less thing to get stressed about.
Of course, I would be shooting mostly for fun, so if I went sub-minor at the chrono stage they would still let me shoot the match for no score, and I would still enjoy the experience.
But I still couldn’t imagine leaving the house with ammo that “might” not make PF wherever I was going.
