USPSA Announces Rules Adjustment For Holster/Mag Pouch Positions
gearguywb replied to BritinUSA's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
The flashlight thing is baffling. The number of folks that were impacted previously is minuscule. Level 1 match, want to shoot your pistol with a light....sure thing! Who cares? Now what you will have is a light ran by a CR2032 battery with 2 lumens and a huge attachment. The only people happy about this are going to be the holster makers......:) -
Checked them out at Shot. Frankly I was very impressed with what I saw on display, especially given the price point. These could end up being a major player in the competitive world, especially as STI leaving is going to leave something of a vacuum. Full disclosure....I have no dog in this fight
-
On the flight coming back from Shot. STI is out of the competition business IMHO. The only thing they are focused on now is the Staccato guns. I saw USPSA approved the SS version for that division but the frames/guns/race guns/etc. are no longer being made.
-
This is exactly why I said to measure YOUR magazines. It doesn't matter what a video shows when you are standing at the chrono for a major match and they measure your mags and they are too long.
-
They fit, but really, really, close. I would check each each one myself to be sure.
-
Just looked at ordering the grip module from Sig. The only option is $300 for the one with the weight and mag well.
-
Really wanted to give one of these a try but $300 seems pretty steep.
-
Fondled one at the range Friday night. Liked the weight. As with the standard grip, I don't think it has near enough texture to keep it from slipping in competitive use. Please let us know what you guys find out about the $200 credit.

I have used the CR Speed pouches for a couple of years and wanted to try something else. I found 3 Guga Ribas to try and liked them. Unfortunately it looks like they are going out of business or something else is going on. No one has black pouches in stock and several vendors say that when their current inventory is gone they will not be carrying them any longer. Sometime back I tried the Double AA and was not overly impressed. I really like the cut out that allows the index finger to be along the leading edge of the magazine. Looking at some other options..... The black Scorpion looks like it would work. Anyone tried them? Pros/Cons? Other suggestions? Thanks!

Looks like both the Romeo1 and 3 are 30mm vs the Vortex, that I am currently running is a 26mm
-
Thanks. IMHO, the 3 min dot is too small to USPSA type stuff. Much prefer the 6 minute.
-
Currently have 2 X5's, one I have kept with sights to teach classes where most students are using s, the other set up for CO with a Vortex on a Springer mount. Looking to set up the top end with an optic as a back up gun. Before I jump into the pool and just set it up exactly as my current CO gun, the Romeo3 looks interesting, with its large field of view, but appears to be very expensive from Sig (as well as out of stock). Anyone actually used one? Thoughts? Availability and cost elsewhere? Thanks!!!

I have tried a couple of them that I picked up and they seem to work pretty well. Just looked online at several different vendors, everyone is out of stock. Is there a production issue that anyone knows of?

Very nice!

SS Minor disadvantage at Lo-Cap Nationals?
gearguywb replied to funkymonkey1111's topic in 1911-style Pistols
Totally stage dependent. The majority of the time, the 2 round difference does not overcome the point difference. -
I would certainly not shoot that pistol in that condition. If the bottom of one of those cases has a catastrophic rupture it is going to blow the magazine out of the gun and could certainly cause injury to the shooter.
-
We measured 6 magazines in the official gauge. All but one would not seat fully against the back of the gauge. They were really close, but if someone wanted to give you a bad day they certainly could.
-
I need to see if they fit, as my 320 mags all have Springer base pads. Not sure if they will fit in the X5 as they come.
-
The 21 rd mags are legal for CO, but you need to check them in a gauge first. Most are 1-2mm too long. Same issue with TT base pads. Several were measured at our last match and did not quite fit the gauge.
-
I shot a 320 in Production a while back and recently have been using a X5 in CO. Just registered for a match where I will need to shoot Production. Tried the 320 out last night and I think I would like to give the X5 a try. After reading through the rules it appears that the magazines that come with the X5 will not work due to not fitting the box (I did not check this but it would seem they are long). Is everyone using the 320 mags instead? Am I correct in my interpretation that the mag well would not be legal in Production? Thanks!
-
I have an extra PSTII 5-25 still in the box that I am going to be parting with if you are interested.
-
I think they will frown on a +5 based on a stock X5 21 round magazine in CO
-
After searching through a bunch of pages....I am still looking for an answer For the factory 21 round magazines, to be used in CO, what else is available besides the Springer base pads that will fit the gauge?

Ken Tapp, anyone know what he's doing now?
gearguywb replied to shopgun's topic in Hell, I Was There
Ken is one heck of a shooter. Really enjoyed competing with him, especially at the Masters. I do remember Ken blowing up not 1....but 2 long range guns
