  1. Oh man. I could bid now, but whats the point, I won't be able to afford the final price
  2. The same that the 7-shot 686s fill. The one that doesnt exist.
  3. Something to consider on the subject: Power factor is essentially momentum... pf=mv Kinetic energy=mv^2 Therefor, a 115 grain bullet making 120 pf carries more kinetic energy than a 147 grain making the same power factor. So the question becomes, does a transfer in kinetic energy cause the popper to fall or does a transfer in momentum cause the popper to fall. Personally, I think the heavier the bullet, the safer you are making it to fall when it should.
  4. Clays is great for a 230 lead/moly coated lead in 45.
  5. Thank you, but I have already considered that. That is a load for a jacketed bullet that has very different dimensions than a lead bullet and very different hardness. For instance: according to hodgdon reloading site (Titegroup): 125gr HDY HAP 2.8-3.2 125gr SIE FMJ 4.1-4.4 125gr LCN 3.6-4.0 So as you see, the charge can vary between bullets.
  6. If someone could help me out with this. Im looking for a Blue Dot load for 125 LCN. I use 125 bayous. I know its not the ideal powder, but im looking for any help.
  7. Seriously.... You are killing me.
  8. When I went to the revolver I just bought the cheapo moonclips: $45 shipped for 100. But even the cheapest options for 8-shot 9mm are nearly 10 times that price. So there is that as well. Dont get me wrong, Im super excited for the 929, but yeah, that initial sticker price is going to suck.
  9. Awesome! Glad to see more new people getting in the sport. Always take advantage of your stage walk-through and do not deviate from your plan.
  10. Powder is still the toughest component to find around here too. You can get any large bore rifle powder and, more recently, some more small bore rifle powder. Pistol powder is still near impossible. I lucked out and found a pound of 800-x at my LGS.
  11. Tallahassee here, soon to be Tampa.
  12. Ive had great luck with IMR 4064. I also like BLC2 and IMR 4895

  14. So after some careful consideration... IF I ever get my hands on this gun, I will be starting my loads with 160gr bayous. At the same power factor, its nice to see the kinetic energy of the 160gr be ~78% of that of the 124gr and ~71% of that of the 115gr. Since we dont have to worry about cycling, I think that should be nice. Do you think that a projectile moving that slowly will negatively affect performance on a moving target?
  15. Lets be real honest here, we want the 929..... Err, I want the 929 and I can only assume that at least one other person here wants it. And I'm sure that one other person has also thought about load development for it. Right now, I shoot 124gr Bayous for 9mm plinking but Im wondering what I am going to throw down the 929. I am thinking Id rather go with a heavy bullet while still sticking with a round nose. Im thinking ill get a sample of 135gr RN and 160 RN Bayous. Ive never shot anything heavier than 147 out of a 9mm, so Im curious to how something as heavy as a 160 is going to work. So, What are you going to load your 929 with?
  16. Another Tallahassee Shooter here! Welcome
  17. I get mine from a local scrapyard. They charge a fair price and let you pick out what you want. So I just either find nuggets that fit in my pot or larger pure pieces that I can cut down to size. Granted I am using a lee 20lb bottom drop pot
  18. All I run is those bayous. Just give it a little more flare in the casing.
  19. CCI do not work that well in my 625JM. I have to REALLY tighten down my spring to get them to go off
  20. Thanks everyone for the help. Ive got most of these things already, but I do need a case trimmer and a my dies.
  21. I just got myself a new SA M1A standard. I don't plan on this gun being a bullseye shooter at 1000 yards but I do want to be able to reload for it and make good, reliable ammunition. So what equipment do I NEED? I have reloaded for handguns for a few years now and I have a fairly good understanding of how reloading works in rifle cartridges. But I do not know what I need to be able to reload for this gun. Collet dies? standard dies? crimp? small base die? I just don't know. Any help would be appreciated.
  22. I think its about time I got in on this. A80382. Going for Revolver division.
  23. So I tested tightgroup and HP38 this weekend. Both were pretty accurate. Groups not quite as tight as with Clays, but it will do. I think I'll use the HP38 until I can find some more Clays
