  1. Try this one. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3530073/practiscore-v1.2.12.apk Thank you for posting this. Yeah, removing the ability to get posted match does blow big time.
  2. When shooting major - I go for the least danger and therefore I aimed for the heads. If you really get detailed here - the body A-zone is even smaller than the overall head area because if you touch a perf, you get the no-shoot. So I can hit heads quicker and safer than shooting in between no-shoots. And because it is major, I might give up a total of 4 points but my time will definitely be quicker. The bottom line, for 4 points down (max) and a few tenths off the time......versus just 1 potential no-shoot, I think the head shot are going to give a more consistent hit factor. Here is the other angle in this equation - stages such as this are not ones where you will "win" a match but you sure can lose them quickly there. So I am going to shoot the stage in a way that I know I can probably shoot it 10 times in a row with a solid hit-factor.
  3. When I started there were still several PDP2's being used (durability was the claim) and the PDP3's were just becoming the standard scope to use. The PDP2's, from my perspective, were so skinny it was like looking through a straw to find a dot. Of course, that evidently was the same opinion for some when it came to the PDP3's as Tasco later came out with the 4, which was like looking at an IMAX screen while carrying a fully sized barrel on top of your gun. Just makes you really appreciate the design of the C-More.
  4. Repeat of a previous post as some are not able to pull from the shared location 2013 TN Section Squad Schedule.pdf
  5. Here you go - count by division and class within division. Again, we must have 10 in a division in order for that division to be recognized for HOA, State Champion, and etc. Within each recognized division, we will be awarding plaques and prizes using the 3/5/7 rule: 3 for 1st, 5 for 2nd, and then 7 for 3rd place. Same process as we have followed for the past many years. Division and Class Spread.pdf
  6. The way I figured the math for Stage 2 Thursday night (and I am talk about Open and Limited primarily here) is that it was VERY possible for many to shoot the stage around the 14 second mark. I figured the GM's and M's would be closer to 13 seconds in actuality (and then add a few tenths per extra shots on steel - which Dave did not have), and they were. At 14 seconds, there was about a 3.5 second buffer than if you could get under.......the math worked out that it was worth skipping the targets. As the times dropped below 14 seconds, that time buffer increased dramatically. As for the actual shooting - Tim won the stage by skipping and taking no extra shots. Rory placed second and shot both drop turners but he did so with a near perfect run (in both no extra shots and perfect footwork and body placement). If he had made ANY mistake, I think the math would have worked against him. In other words, he had zero room for error. And that is why most folks skipped the drop turners because that allowed a little room for error as opposed to the one that Rory executed on. For the lesser round divisions - to hit that 14 second mark would have been tough and so because of the increase in realistic time, that buffer time for the math to work really began to shrink. That is why I thought considering at least 1 drop turner (the left side) was a very viable plan.......but you couldn't screw around with the star.
  7. Having been a competitor at this match many times and now on the working end - this match is definitely a class act all the way around.
  8. Just a heads up to everyone - we are about 50 folks away from having a full match. I know that may sound like a lot but as most folks know - the pace of the apps coming in usually picks up as the match gets closer. If you are thinking about shooting this match, please get your apps in as soon as possible.
  9. I have shot too many stages with "options," and I have yet to see where everything was the exact same regardless which color, symbol, or whatever was chosen for me. The trick is to ensure that the stage doesn't present undue issues for either a left or right-handed shooter. And I know that Peter is beyond aware of that fact......so this is really a none issue.
  10. First and foremost - I want to thank the BOD for finally taking the appropriate actions in allowing member feedback before rules such as this proposal is voted on.
  11. Hey Everyone - for those that have registered for this year's match (and evidently in previous years as well), please ignore all of the emails showing how you got registered, re-registered, and etc. Had some weird snafu when I uploaded the latest registrations this morning. So I had to delete everyone, register them again, and then re-squad. Please check to make sure I have you in the correct squad. If not and you have any issues getting yourself corrected, please give me a shout. brad.griffin@gmail.com 770-757-5188 Sorry for the annoying/confusing emails.
  12. Bullets are dirty - regardless what flavor you use. As Chandler said, the moly bullets are going to be dirtier based on how they are produced. And I guess to argue which bullet is dirtier is kind of like arguing who is the tallest pygmy. I have used moly bullets since the early 90's, originally in Super. At that time, I used 135gr bullets. But as guns and powders evolved, most open shooters start shooting 125gr or less......and the required increase in bullet speed caused too many issues, in my opinion, with leading and smoke. End result, I quit using moly's in Super and restricted their use to 40 and 45. A few years ago I experimented with the moly's again in Super......disaster. My gun looked like it had been dragged through a charcoal pit in only a mag or two. Based on a recent conversation I had with another open shooter, I tried Chandler's bullets in my super. The results were incredible! I am running a 125gr bullet behind 11gr of AA7 - so nothing close to minor. The smoke was surprisingly minimal, the groups were tight, and the gun was about as dirty as I hoped (you will get more 'funk' when using non-jacketed bullets).......but the results were MORE than acceptable. So while that is a bit of an endorsement of his bullets - it is also to say that if a bullet can withstand the speeds and heat of shooting major in a super, the bullet should REALLY perform well in Ltd, SS, and etc. where the speeds and the intensity of the powder are typically less.
  13. As we have done the past few years, we are offering some varying time slots to provide more flexibility. Attached is the schedule in order to help you pick the squad best fitted to when you want to shoot. If you need to shoot on Friday, please let me know beforehand. We can accommodate some Friday shooters, but just need to limit to only those that cannot make the weekend schedule work for them. Any questions or anything - give me a shout: 770-757-5188 or 615-415-0099 brad.griffin@gmail.com TN Section Squad Schedule - 2013.pdf
  14. Hey guys, I will get the apps loaded up next week after the SC match. Haven't been able to sit in front of home computer lately.
  15. Pressure issues with 38 super were not really a concern with 175pf, and no that isn't why the 9x25 was developed. You have to go back to the early 90's when 9-major was legal at the time. There were some legitimate pressure concerns around that round and thus 9x19 major was banned. In fact, there was talk about only allowing 40cal and above to go major (much like limited is today). But that particular restriction didn't carry because a 38 super with a supported barrel was perfectly safe. Now when the 9x19 major was banned, that ushered in the 9x21......or 9mm JLE as some called it (JLE - just long enough). This was the preferred round for the P9's of the day.
  16. Just now seeing this - there will NOT be an all-day Sunday squad. The time slots will be the same as the previous years: All-day Friday, All-day Saturday (about 3 or squads of 10 - 11 folks), AM Saturday/AM Sunday, or PM Saturday/AM Sunday. Hopefully one of those time slots can eventually work for you. Also - my phone number on the website is no longer current: 615-415-0099 or 770-757-5188
  17. Chris, your previous comment about Sam is why I said stage design could play into this discussion. And I agree with you 100% about other matches/stage designers and the impact to the competiveness of 6 versus 8 rounds. And so the overall point I was hoping to convey - for a match properly designed for revolver (which the MCC typically has been to my limited knowledge of revolver stage designs), I think the format Sam is recommending could make for some good challenges. i say that because of my previous experience with 8-round major versus 10-round minor, those couple of extra rounds were not an advantage. Now everyone that knows me knows - I AM NOT A REVOLVER SHOOTER! In the words of Chris Farley, "let me tell you why I SUCK!" But I work this match (and do my comedyfest of a shooting attempt) because I want to ensure all legitimate divisions remain in this sport. To have a revolver-only match (especially one that supports an organization appreciative of our efforts/donations) helps ensure revolver remains a legitimate division. While I would argue that the MCC should have been selected as the actual revolver nationals, I can also argue that there would not be a revolver nationals if not for Sam and the MCC. S o this match has been very beneficial for revolver division in so many ways. I would appeal to anyone questioning this match (attendance or format) to keep all of those factors under consideration. And if anything is taken from this match that may impact the division across the board, we would have much harder facts to support any discussions that could arise.
  18. For those that think an 8-shot revolver shooting minor has a distinct disadvantage, you are very mistaken based on this real example: NTPS started the production versus single matches years ago. So just like Sam's suggestion here - that match was essentially 8- shot major versus 10-shot minor. We had a lot of equal talent on both sides and guess what - 8-shot major dominated. And to be honest, I was very surprised. Does that necessarily mean the results from that match will completely translate to this one? No. But at the same time to think an 8-shot revolver has a big disadvantage is an equally wrong assumption. And yes stage design could play into this discussion.......but this is a revolver match. Don't you think Sam will design stages that would make for a legitimate competition?
  19. The only problems folks have had with Wolf/Tula were in striker fired guns. Another GM made a comment that Wolf primers gave him more consistent readings over the chrono. Initially I thought that may have been a bit of a stretch, especially against Winchester. However, in a very quick test - I found the same thing. Now I definitely would want to do more testing before I could say Wolf definitely chrono's better - but I think there is enough to say it is very possible. Bottom line - If you shoot a 1911-based gun, you won't have any issues with Wolf.
  20. Hey Everyone, Just talked with Val - there was an electronic snafu with the results and hence why the results weren't populated. So she is resubmitting into the system. We should see them in the next cycle. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  21. Here is the problem, I am one of these GM's being discussed. Using this 95% attainment at the Nationals to classify a GM is one thing and then using 95% on classifiers is something totally different. If you look at the classification to only separate folks by skill set, then I should a GM as my scores are usually around that GM bubble in real matches, thus beating most Masters. However, if you look at the classification system by only what percentages they obtain at the Nationals.....well, at any point in time, there are only 5 or 6 people in any division that can hit 95% at the Nationals. And those folks, with always that one or two exceptions, are serious shooters whose jobs either center around shooting and/or allow them far more practice opportunity than the average Joe. With that being said, I should be a Master by those standards, versus a GM. While I am not advocating a new classification to be added......but if we really wanted to offer something to address this issue with the system, then we should make a Pro Classification. Going back to my earlier statement where there are only 5 or 6 legitimate 95% shooters at any time - in order to get to this Pro Classification, you have to do something to earn it and then something to maintain it. Then as these "Pro" guys get older, life gets more complicated, or whatever takes away from their ability to remain in this top 5%, they fall back to the amateur GM classification. But without this additional classification, we are always goinging to have a whole bunch of folks that will beat most Masters often enough but will not break 95% against a stacked field. And I am one of those GM's.........
  22. Good question - but a "male" throw of a fully loaded 40 magazine would have knocked down that port cover.
