  1. It is a lot easier than you would think. Just bring the pistol UNLOADED with NO magazines in a locked case with a TSA lock on it to the check in and let them know you need to declare the pistol. Keep ammo away from the pistol in the original containers if possible. You can't have any loose ammo or ammo that you can see visibly (uncased---as in original packaging). You can leave the pistol INSIDE the suitcase locked up nicely. They will give you a tag to sign and you then place the tag on top of the firearm case INSIDE the suitcase. Then they will walk you over to the TSA agents and you stick around till it clears and budda boom your done. It's that simple. X2 on the flight back.
  2. I wouldn't load a lighter 40 cal bullet like a 155gr. I would load up a 180gr to minor velocities and the felt recoil will be less than a standard 9mm load. I did this with a Glock 35 I used to have and it was like I was shooting a pellet gun. Many guys I shot with thought I was cheating. I shot my G35 next to a G34 with standard loads and the G35 shot flatter with less recoil. No joke. Try it.
  3. Shot this today in the rain. Best try at this ever...go figure. 5.47 seconds down 2. HF- 10.6033 Good for a 98% classifier.
  4. Not in 2011, dates are May 13-14, so the last weekend in April is W I D E open, kind of like the double tap match.
  5. Cool! On my birthday (May 13). My wife CAN'T POSSIBLY say I can't go now. That is all I want for my birthday... Oh, this is SOOOOO good.
  6. Well what do ya know, I had pjb45 on my squad (27) and didn't even know it! We indeed had a great squad. Many times there was nothing to paste or set as this squad was working hard. This was the first SS nationals I went too, and this was a fantastic match. As previously said, it was a straight up "who can shoot better than who" match without it being a track meet or a gimick match. God willing, I will be back again next year. HUGE congrats to Bill Filiaga who was #10 overall and 1st A class. He is from Alaska and he was a class act. Great job!
  7. I just re-read this post. It is official, I am an idiot. But I at least now know what is going on. Sorry about my ignorance. Thursday Friday shooters must be at the Holiday Inn Wedensday. Friday Saturday shooters at the range Friday and yes you will get your gift if you register at the correct place and time. You will not get your gift if you are shooting Thursday and show up at the range Thursday morning to register. Simple isn't it.

You will not get your gift if you are shooting Thursday and show up at the range Thursday morning to register. Simple isn't it. But what are the dates and times? This is what I am missing somewhere on the website. Can you help out PLEASE? Where is this information located? If this is the information, it is too easy.... 2010 Match Information •There are still plenty of spots left for Thursday/Friday shooting. •Match Dates are April 28th --May 1st, 2010 (Staff only will shoot on the 28th) •The same format as last year. 180 Shooters on Thursday/Friday AM, 180 Shooters on Friday PM/Saturday. •We will begin accepting Registration postmarked on or after December 9, 2009, watch this site and the USPSA site for the announcement. •At least 16 - 18 intense stages plus Chronograph. •36 Squads with a maximum of 10 shooters per squad. •Staff will shoot the match on Wednesday for scores. No other competitors may shoot on Wednesday. •No golf carts are allowed on the range without the express written permission of the Match Director. •Registration for Thursday/Friday AM will be at the match hotel, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. •Registration for Friday PM/Saturday will be at PASA in Smith & Wesson Hall from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. •We are attempting to do confirmations via email, so those of you who have provided an email address you will receive your confirmation through your email. Those who did not provide an email address will receive a hardcopy through snail mail in the near future.
  9. I did a search on the SS nationals "goodie bag" but couldn't find any details on this years set up. I know we are required to show up at the match hotel during registration to claim our item. Does anybody have any further information for this year?
  10. 1) Limited 2) Open 3) Production 4) Single stack When I started this game, limited was my division for a few years. I switched to Open to become faster to get in and out of positions for better my chances in limited. I then was hooked on open the last couple of years due to some VERY good competition in open up here in the northland. I wanted to achieve some goals and then go back to shooting limited again. My intent was to shoot limited this year. For now though, its the single stack pistol as the SS nationals are coming up quick. After that, my plan is limited, but you never know with me which way I'm going to float. I am shooting the production challenge that Navy Steve is putting on later in the year. I can't WAIT for that match!
  11. Just came back from the range.... No problems encountered with the pistol/load/magazine today. The new load set up appears to be perfect for this pistol. I have a PF of 170.1 and the accuracy is pretty darn good (1.5" at 25yds). Best of all with this longer 1.90" load the rounds fed like melted butter. No KERCHUNKS at all during feeding. All is good in the universe once again.
  12. I have a new Fusion 40 cal SS that came with what appears to be Mecgar magazines. I had problems running factory ammo thru 2 of the 3 magazines. I had a good friend of mine recommend me trying the Tripp Cobra magazines. I ordered the 10mm set up with the hybrid polymer/metal followers. I have had some issues with the mag/pistol/ammo combination. I believe it to be more ammo related than anything else however. All of the malfunctions I have had were from a slide lock reload. I only load 8 rounds in each magazine although I could start with 9 in the first one. The issues were with bullet set back. The bullet would hit the bottom of the feed ramp and stop. I'd have to lock the slide to the rear, push down on the base of the case (while still in the magazine) which then pushed the nose of the bullet up, let the slide go and had no issues after that, or until the next slide lock reload. It wouldn't do this if a tactical type reload was performed. The OAL at the time was 1.170". I later tried loads up to 1.185", but with similar results (however fewer of them). No matter how hard I would crimp the bullet, it would still happen. I ended up buying the EGW undersized die for resizing and I am in the process of playing with OAL right now (currently going to try 1.190"). I will be leaving shortly for the range and will post a reply on how things went.
  13. +1, That is the main reason I didn't go this year. Pretty sad when it is warmer up here in Minnesota than it is 1,000 miles south of me.
  14. If only we could get Bob to negotiate with mother nature as well as he designs stages..... If we could it would be a balmy 75 degrees with no humidity and the sun a shinin' on all of us. It is warmer here in Minnesota than it is down in Texas and we have nothing but sunshine out the door. Why does seem like the last 4 years the weather pattern has done the same thing? REALLY nice a few days before the match, then the days of the match WAMM-O then a few days after the match is REALLY nice once again? Bob, come on how could you tick off Ma nature that bad?
  15. No sir, I sure haven't. I am a new guy to playing in ASA softball. I played on a co-ed team several years back, but since then I've been too busy with shooting and coaching my wifes softball team over the last 6+ years. She dumped her team and her and I are startingn a co-ed team this spring. I'm also playing on ANOTHER team along with one of my neighbors. I'm really pumped about that. Send me a PM on your tournament.
  16. +1 Softball is dangerous, you may get hurt playing softball. They don't have all of the safety rules that we have in shooting sports . I hope that you hate playing softball, that way I will get my best shooting buddy back. It just isn't the same not squadding with Master Z. Oh Daniel, you know I love you. Just excited about "expanding my horizons" is all. It'll keep me in shape for those long field courses....
  17. Flex fixed the title to the thread and that my friends is why I edited this post.
  18. Boy, I guess that answers that.... been up for a few weeks and only 160+ looks. Interesting...
  19. Play softball? I will be starting to play on 2 different leagues this year. I have been coaching my wifes all female team on Thursday nights, but after last season she has decided to leave that team and start up a co-ed team with me. A month later my neighbor asked me if I wanted to play on his all guys team. I gotta say, I'm pumped and excited for a new challenge. Just like we have this forum, there is a softball forum to talk about everything softball. It is at linked here. So, I was just wondering how many shooters enjoy softball as well?
  20. I just weighed my 9L slide as well. Barrel and guide rod/recoil spring removed. I have Dawson fixed front and rear sites on the pistol. Mine weighed in at 13.44oz.
  21. Married,,,,,with children

  22. 9 months does seem like a long time. Problem is, it isn't soon enough as there are several other matches also being planned. When the nationals dates aren't locked in soon enough it causes problems with these other larger matches ie the Production Challenge. Situations like this can be avoided if the nationals dates are put out quickly enough. I'm just as tired of hearing about the complaining of the nationals dates as much as the next shooter, but it is someething that needs to be addressed.
  23. That is great news. It is further away from hurricane season which is A-OK with me!! I'll still plan on going there!
