Just so you can double check here's a picture of a non-drop free mag on the left. The non-drop free aren't metal lined and tend to swell when loaded. You can see the metal lining on the magazine on the right thru the witness holes. Dave

Congrats on the new pistol. Most of the Glock brass to face issues that I've heard of are with Gen 4 Glock 19. Glad you shoot well with the G17, it's a nice all around pistol. Don't know about you but I almost always shoot well with a new pistol. I think it's because I'm paying more attention so my fundamentals are better. Dave

Recoil springs are pretty gun specific within frame size in the 3rd Gen Guns. In other works you can use the same spring for G26, G27, G33. Is yours a Gen 4? If you want to try different spring strengths for trigger return and striker, I'd suggest trying Wolff and get different service packs. The 9mm ejector is bent to the left of the pistol starting at trigger housing mech while the .40 is more straight. Sorry I don't have a pic, don't own a .40 anymore. One of the classic ways to change ejection pattern is to alter the ejector angle. It acts as a pivot point. That doesn't mean that the .40 won't work. Just neet to try it with the ammo you expect to use. Dave

Thanks for posting the info. Doesn't seem unreasonable but I wonder if it's your best course. Are Glocks available in your area? The reason I ask is that plenty of people like the grips with no finger grooves. You might be able to sell or trade up. But, I guess this might not be the best time to try and find a decent price on a pistol. Good luck, hope it works for you. Dave

I'll be interested to find out. Please post what you find out. I've only heard about them doing this in the case of damage and the case I'm thinking of the owner had to wait several months because they wanted the same number. Might well be different in your case. My only first had experience with getting a replacement was with a different brand of pistol and it took 90 days. I was told it took that long because they had to transfer the old number and re-register a new number. That was Bersa and I don't know if it was because of the state regs (NJ) or federal. I'm sure they'll be helpful, I've never heard anything bad about Glock CS. Hope everything goes well and quickly. Dave

By upgrade I assume you mean replacement, right? If you have damage to the frame they may work with you but just going to a newer frame, I don't know. You will also have to go thru an FFL transfer since the frame has the serial number. All of the after market frame mods I've seen involve removing the finger grooves so I don't know if anyone can add them. You could try a Hogue slip on, they have the finger grooves but also make the grip thicker. I think Nik has a good Idea, selling the Gen 2 (Gen 1 ?) frame. Before you do it though you might want to see who has the Gen 3 frame in stock. You might have to wait. Dave

The 2009 Glock Armorer's Manual says a minimum of 2/3rds of the rear of the trigger bar should be engaged by the rear lug of the striker/firing pin. In order to check this you need an orange armorer's slide plate cover (or a stock one that is cut so you can check engagement. You can get one of the slide covers from Lone Wolf or GlockParts. If you haven't seen it got to this link and scroll down, there are several Glock Armorer's manuals 2009 is the newest. GlockParts has an adapter for the RSA. http://glockparts.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=155989&CAT=737 You may also need the ejector to be changed but I know many people don't bother. Try it and see as there have been issues with some Gen 4 9mm models. Dave

As far as raising or lowering, you can turn the screw either way, at least on my kits you can (also on my 17L). You have to watch the rear sight to see if it's going up or down. If you want poi higher, raise the sight. It's not the greatest adjustable sight, but the Glock adjustable sight mainly adjusts thru the range of factory available fixed sights. 6.1 mm, 6.5mm, 6.9mm and 7.3mm.. Have been using them for four years now without problems. They really help with trigger control without racking up too much expense. It's best if you use the ammo they recommend. Out of what they recommend Remington Golden Bullets are what I find locally. They do have occasional duds but are cheap. Dave
