  1. What about the low mass carriers or like JP's system? I have heard it is noticeable and then not, is that one of those splitting hairs for the pros or joes?
  2. Thanks for the honest feedback, that is why I like this forum. I framed my question that way to get feed back on would any of these changes be noticeable to someone with my skills. I am 54 and just started enjoying this sport so my expectations for grandeur are limited. So the long answer, yes i am accessorizing my AR but would these mods be even noticeable? The trigger I had issues with and I do like the AR Gold trigger feel (although Stag offered for me to send it in, I did not want to send it in the middle of the season). The Comp was a substantial difference in my opinion even for someone at my skill level. So those are some of the things even I can tell the difference.
  3. I need some advice for up dating my Stag 3G this winter, it has about 3000 rounds on it, I do my own reloading. I was thinking of buying a JP but i think i will just upgrade my Stag for now. I am a mid pack shooter in multi gun club matches and want to put my money where it is best spent so here goes . Current updates are an SJC Comp, ACE ARFX stock, AR Gold trigger, 60 deg safety and Tubb springs. I was thinking of a JP Low mass set up and a Syrac Gas block. Possibly a carbon fibre hand guard (really up in the air on this one). Does this sound like a reasonable package and is there bang for the buck? Thanks in advance Tom
  4. Welcome Aboard. Lots of information here on that subject.
  5. Welcome aboard! For 3 gun sign up to Indiana Multigun and just get out there and get your feet wet in USPSA and 3 Gun
  6. I had bought two boxes last fall and there was a quality question. They finally (~ August) decided to reimburse me rather than supply me with replacements. I don't know if they ever got it straightened out or not. There is a thread out there you can search for that describes the issues people were having.
  7. When i bought my rig I was not that happy about not having good retention and contacted their customer service they were very nice and sent me four, two snap keepers for no charge. Great customer service.
  8. I have an M2 and a friend has the Versamax. It is personal preference however the Benelli feels right to me. That said the Versmax is a little softer shooting. If you want to remove the pain buy one from someone like Triangle with a competition package done when it arrives on your door step. I spent more money sending it there and back than i did not buying it done, I should have checked with them first! Also if anyone is going to have access then one of the gunsmith shops probably have the contacts to get what you want. Go to a match and borrow one of each and try shooting them, it's like choosing a blond or brunette you will know when YOU try it. I think you will find it is a personal choice. The Beretta is too new for me and I think too new to see how reliable it is going to be. The M2 is the standard others are judged by. The Versamax is a gased M2 if you want a gas system.
  9. Welcome aboard. Reloading is fun, things are getting better with reloading components and equipment unfortunately the prices are still high. Jump into the competition world it is a lot of fun.
  10. Great match! Thanks to David and all the great volunteers who made it fun for us shooters!
  11. Welcome a lot of good shooters and places to shoot down your way.
  12. Quick question on the bulk Hornady I believe they are offered in SP or BT if my memory is correct. With the market the way it Is there any real advantage or disadvantage, one over the other?
  13. Typically the rifle targets around here are paper (various sizes) and then flash targets out beyond them for distance.
  14. I just sent mine back Monday also. I tried to trade them for pistol bullets (I would have came out ahead a couple of bucks) but they backed out of that and said i can order them with the money. I am going to try and find one of the Hornady bulk packs this winter and just stick with them. Timing is poor for this to happen and I am not sure who I will buy my next order of pistol bullets from, I am 50/50 on them right now.
  15. I think as things evolve like the Tek lock and ELS system and 3 gun in general it will become common practice. I really see no difference from a safety aspect of an unloaded clear pistol and unloaded and clear AR, That said I believe always show respect and play by the rules of those who organize the events. I have been to matches that require you to stop when you shoot your rifle or have IDPA, USPSA or Cowboy folks manage them and they bring what they know to the table. Honestly 3 gun is a great melting pot of shooting.
  16. I like the way you think! Welcome aboard!
  17. If we are reasonable when you show clear and flag a shotgun it is safe keep the flag in, when you show clear and flag an AR it is safe keep the flag in, when you show clear and holster your pistol it is safe, just don't take it out of the holster like you would not mess with a flag.
  18. It's retained in the holster never removed just removing the holster. It is as inert in the holster on the cart as it is on the belt. I always ask the RO if he is okay with it and never had a problem yet. Before I had the ELS we would just call the range hot and bag the guns if not needed or find a safe table.
  19. I bought the ELS system this summer (50% off when i sent in USPSA dues) and I believe it works well for the TO class. I use the ELS to attach my STI Edge in a DOH holster and use the Mountain Man Caddies. I also contacted them and they sent me a free set of belt keepers. If you want to stay with a CR belt you can look at getting one of those chest load two carriers i think Mark Otto makes them and put it on when needed and take it off when not, not too bad if you have to go prone also. I would find a way to remove the pistol if possible so you don't have to worry about carrying it around if the course of fire does not require one. May save you from dropping it sometime and ending up with a DQ.
  20. In Limited advantage 40 for increased capacity. There may be times where it doesn't matter and there will be times that it does. I doubt there will ever be a time in a course of fire when you say I wish I had a 45! I started with a 45 (I am a 45 fan) and went to 40's for one reason capacity and It is easier to find 40 brass.
  21. Great video, some good shots i always wondered about in storing ammo. 400,000 rounds of ammo wasted no wonder there is a shortage, didn't see an 22's SAAMI can't even get them
  22. I am going to switch over to the Hornady for 3 gun rifle loads is there any performance difference between the BT and the SP? The price at Cabelas was the same so i picked up the SP as they would most likely match the MG's i have been using.
