Very nice! The reason for 40's is until about a month ago i never owned a 9mm so i always shot 40 heavy load for USPSA and a whimper for 3 gun it just worked with the STI I have about 7,500 bullets and about 150 lbs of 40 brass. And about 3,000 loaded rounds. This weekend my M&P is a week late from when it was due in. I called Saturday the $50 deposit (which they did not ask for but i offered because i think it is the right thing to do) the credit card did not go thru, so they did not order it! I said i called and checked on it and they said oh ya its not in yet but give it another couple days. TWICE! Now no gun I am so ticked off i told them to forget it. I called Big Box Store next and they said it will be special order and X person will call you. Guess what no call! Maybe when i cool off i will make another attempt to buy one. Your story sounds compelling

When I went out to buy a polymer pistol I looked hard at both M&P and Glock the feel of the M&P felt better to me (probably grip angle and feel), not too worried about trigger as those are the most tune-able parts. After a couple trips to Cabela’s I decided to buy a M&P and after taking it to the range I decided to buy this project gun. I know folks who shoot Glocks and LOVE them it is more about personal preference and some folks shoot Glocks for their job and develop a comfort with them. So there is no right or wrong just preferences. Get what wou can afford and spend time at the range competing and practicing is the best plan! IMO

I had the pleasure of a DQ for that. I removed the ambidextrous safety and made it a habit to ditch it on the right side. I like the STI’s they are great! They are pricey and a full custom is really pricey. You have to admire those who are good enough to get all that is in one out of it. I am pretty sure a good M&P tuned up will have more capability in it than I am capable of wringing out of it. But since I have another one for home defense the range will get me accustomed to handling and finding most of the flaws in a less critical situation.

I have an STI Edge for Limited in USPSA, and two guys I know swear by these so that is what got me going on this project. the trigger is going to be a challenge but they say the Apex triggers are very good so we will see.

This is the captured guide rod I am thinking of getting. I usually have a soft set up for 3 gun light loads and a stiffer spring for USPSA. The compatibility note is what concerned me so I was trying to stay with a combination without mods. The TTI seems to not work with either without modification.

I decided to buy one of these as a winter project for 3 gun, should get it in about three more days. That said I am looking at the options for magazine base pads and mag well extensions to start with. Apex seems to be the source for triggers and barrels when and if I choose to go that way, but for now the best options on magazines seem to be using the OEM with an extension. The two I have come across are Taylor Freelance and Springer Precision. Are there any recommendations or advantages of one over the other?

Rock River arms used to have a 40 S&W (not sure if it was any good) is there anyone else who has a recommendation for a pistol calibre AR in 40?

Titegroup is difficult to beat. VV is clean, but a couple years ago due to costs and availability I decided to try Titegroup and have not found a compelling reason to leave it.

Welcome to the forum. While away I suggest you find the club where you hope to shoot and make contact with the director of USPSA there. They can probably help when you get back and even get a loaner rig to shoot a first match. Then you can make up your mind try the 2011's also that is where I went and I was dead set on my Colt 45 1911 when started, but i got tired of the mag changes. After you shoot a first club match you will learn A LOT. Stay safe

I have the newer version and it works very well. I would buy it again in a heart beat. I do play with the rheostat some times just because it is a knob and therefore must be tweaked.

When i got my press "back in the day" I started with a Rock Chucker. When i decided to start shooting competitively i bought a 550, soon i out grew it and bought a 650. I still have use my 550. You may find yourself as many do with multiple presses. From my experience start with what you can afford if the 1050 is no big thing buy one. I would think hard before going to the 550. If you can afford it get at least a 650. Don't spend so much money that you cannot afford to shoot. I load precision rifle rounds on a Forester single stage. Could i make as good on a 650 yes but that works for me. I do want a 1050 but they are pricey. Just whatever you do pay attention when reloading you do not need to crank them out and forget to drop a powder charge or have rounds that will not feed. Details matter.

Thanks i was using the Charity Navigator yesterday to check some out. I read the response from the anti-gun link above and it almost made me think i was listening to a politician and not a charity . I guess you have to worry about your Branding and control the Narrative, too bad they have to worry about who they associated with. I guess Jesus should have stayed away from those tax collectors and other sinners to protect his brand!

I did receive a return call from WWP and they said go online and apply to sponsor an event and then they will let me know in 7 to 10 days.

I have a call into them i will post it once they return my phone call. Times and attitudes may have changed. I am still going to contact other groups as well.

You have got to be kidding me, they won't take money from a gun related event! I would like to do the most good we can and figure an organization we may be able to help financially and also help them promote. Maybe I am off track but i have time to get back on and my find a local vet to help. Remington is supporting Special Forces Charitable Trust maybe i will try that. Or try some local research.

I am doing some research for adding in a charitable side to an upcoming match in north west Indiana. I have looked at the ratings of many military charities and wonder if anyone out there has any good or bad experiences as I move forward with this task? I have looked at the big names and want to make sure we go down the right path not just the easy path to support, assist and promote the right group. Thanks Tom

I have shot with Frank when I lived down that way, he is a great guy! Also had a friend take one of his classes and he came away with high regards for Frank and his teaching ability. I don't think you can go wrong.
