  1. I've invested in an Armanov floating toolhead and some floating lock rings. I plan to use that toolhead for my 50m PPC precision loads.
  2. That's an outstanding group - what velocity are you getting with that load?
  3. Seconded this, would love to get a RHT holster for the Redback
  4. I'm by no means a high level shooter, but I follow the school of "grip very hard with support hand and keep a relaxed grip in the firing hand". I know what you mean about applying some pressure with the firing hand pinky to help lock the firing hand wrist. I do that too but only when shooting one-handed. If two handed, my firing hand remains neutral and relaxed.
  5. Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there any reason why a 9mm revolver might be inherently less accurate than one chambered for 38spl?
  6. So basically, there's no reason why the Shadow 2, a gun made for production division, doesn't have a decocker?
  7. I believe decockers have heavier triggers, but I could just be perpetuating a myth.
  8. I've narrowed down the culprit to CBC headstamped brass. S&B gauges, plunks and spins freely without fail. It does make sense, CBC brass seems to be thicker or "harder". I've found there to be a lot more resistance when resizing CBC brass vs S&B brass.
  9. Out of curiosity, why does JHP seem to be the most accurate bullet type? Pretty much all of the PPC/bullseye loads use JHP
  10. Yes I'm using the RN side of the Dillon seating die. I'll look into the MBF powder funnel, I assume that it just replaces the Dillon powder funnel thing and flares the case mouth in a way that allows bullets to seat straighter?
  11. Quick update, about 30% of my rounds aren't spinning freely after plunking in my CZ and SIG P210 barrels. Using the sharpie method, it looks like they're catching at the base of the bullet. What's the cause of this? There is quite a visible bulge which I believe is normal. But perhaps this is too much?
  12. Re-adjusted my seating die with cases in every station, and getting pretty low variation in OAL now (only around .002")
  13. So when setting up the dies on my progressive press, I adjust the depth of each die in turn. I settled upon a OAL of 1.095" for my 9mm. But once I started running the press, the OAL would increase, and vary between 1.099-1.103". Ultimately, it's only about .004" variation, and i believe well within what is acceptable. But why is the OAL longer? Is it because when loading progressively, with cases in every station, the seating station is subject to varying resistances? If I run these rounds just through the seating die again with nothing else happening on the press, it gets them down to the original 1.095" with .002" variation at the most.
  14. Thanks, got a reply very quickly. Sorry again for hijacking this thread. Looking forward to building my own Mark IV Volquartsen gun.
  15. Sorry to hijack this thread, but is anyone having any luck getting in touch with Volquartsen by email? I'm not in the USA, so can't really phone them.
  16. Does anyone know if a STI 2011 holster will fit a STI 1911 Targetmaster? Is the 2011 frame wider than the 1911 frame on account of it being a double stack design?
  17. Do we have any optometrists here? I have an interesting issue that I recently discovered. I am strongly right-eye dominant. However, with two eyes open, when I focus on my front sight (so I see one front sight, two targets and two rear sights), the "weak eye" rear sight is stronger and clearer. This is a problem as it's very hard to ensure the front sight is perfectly aligned when the rear sight is faint and blurry. Furthermore, I noticed that when I'm focusing on the front sight, the dominant image of the sight I see is what my weak eye sees. The front sight is at an angle, which is what my weak eye would see if the sight was in front of my dominant eye. In other words, my weak eye image dominates. Interestingly, when I reverse this so that I place the sights in front of my weak eye, the exact opposite happens. The strong eye image dominates. So what is happening here? Why when I focus on the front sight is the dominant image coming from the eye that the gun is not in front of?!?!
  18. I don't think it's a sizing issue anymore. I resized 20 cases, and they all dropped into the gauge perfectly. But after I loaded them, a couple ended up like in the picture. I suspect it's the bulge at the base of the bullet. The crimp is at 0.377" so I don't think that's the issue. I'll give my pistol barrels a good clean and then plunk test all of the "failures". Sounds like an issue that's just inherent to coated bullets and mixed brass.
  19. That's probably bad? If I recall correctly, the 125gr polymer coated bullets I'm loading have a diameter of .356 or .357 I did notice that a couple of my bullets appeared to be tumbling downrange.
  20. Thanks for all the replies so far. I'm currently loading on a Dillon XL750 with all Dillon 9mm carbide dies. I used to load on a single stage press with Lee dies. I took the rounds that were failing and put them through the Lee factory crimp die, and that has fixed them. I definitely feel some significant resistance when I put the rounds through the FCD. I think the FCD fully resizes the case, whereas the Dillon crimp die just crimps the neck? After checking the round after it's been through the FCD, I can see clear marks near where the bullet bulges out the case below the neck. I'm now worried that the FCD might be deforming the bullet when it resizes the case.
  21. Is this the trashcan or the practice ammo pile? I wouldn't mind throwing away just the cases, but it's finished rounds that are being gauged
  22. About a fifth of my rounds are not gauging, the rim ends up poking out of the gauge (not my image, but indicative of the issue). These rounds plunk fine in my CZ and SIG P210 barrel. I used a marker and found that the round is getting caught above the rim. From what I've read, it's an issue with case bulge at the bottom where the resizer can't reach. Do you guys experience this too, and how do you deal with it? It hasn't been a problem until this weekend when I had a malfunction. I couldn't diagnose it as I was on the clock, but I think the round didn't chamber and the gun didn't go into battery.
  23. Looks like Eemanntech now have Redback springs https://dealer.eemann-tech.com/en/718-phoenix
