  1. Polymer coated It should be clean enough. The gun is relatively new (only 2000 rounds through it) so possibly still needs to be shot in? Case bulge (Glock?) is a possibility I suppose. Out of curiosity, if you slowly ride the slide forwards when chambering a round, is it common/expected for the round to fail to chamber? After all, the guns are designed to cycle quickly and violently. I've always been told to pull the slide back and let go, rather than easing the slide forwards for this very reason.
  2. I only need to force it out when it doesn't fully chamber. That same round will plunk, spin and fall back out just fine. But for some reason, when it's being fed from a magazine, it hits the chamber at the wrong angle or something and won't fully chamber. I do have a Hundo case gauge and all the rounds passed the gauge. Hence why my original question (which nobody seems to have read) was whether a round could be too short.
  3. I feel it's a bit much to be chamber checking every round, but perhaps for match rounds, it would give added reassurance. Would nose diving be caused by a cartridge that's too long or too short?
  4. I had to get a gunsmith to help me fit the Eemanntech CZ ultimate trigger. It just needed a bit removed as it wasn't resetting in double action mode.
  5. The rounds are definitely not too long, hence why I asked if it was possible to load rounds too short for reliable feeding. Glock bulge is a possibility, so I proceeded to plunk 50 rounds that I had already loaded, and they were fine.
  6. I'm running a CZ Shadow clone. Occasionally, a round will not fully chamber (the slide ends up about 3mm out of battery) and the round gets stuck pretty hard (I have to grab the slide with my left hand and "punch" the grip forwards in order to rack the round back out). When the round comes out, it looks like the case neck was the bit that got caught. I crimp to around 0.378" so I don't think that's the problem. The rounds plunk just fine.
  7. Hi guys, I know that having a OAL that is too long for the chamber of your gun can result in rounds not chambering/feeding. But can having an OAL that is too short (within reason) also affect chambering?
  8. So I also ordered an aftermarket Shadow 2 trigger, and realised that the Phoenix factory trigger bar pin is too big for the Shadow 2 trigger. Did you experience this too? In any case, I've ordered some OEM CZ trigger bar pins.
  9. I've got a CZ clone where I've got the double action to a nice weight. It's also smooth for most of the pull, but near the end, there's some pretty heavy stacking. What would be the part(s) that might need polishing or even changing out altogether?
  10. Unfortunately I don't know, the manufacturers don't say anything about the DA trigger reach, only the SA pre-travel: https://www.ipscstore.com/en/cz/8359-eemann-tech-competition-disconnector-for-cz-shadow.html Noted about the disconnector being too thick. So just have to sand it down until it fits?
  11. In Carry Optics/Production Optics? Ah didn't realise USPSA Carry Optics did not have a capacity limit, my bad
  12. Why not just take your first magazine, put an extra round in it and load using that?
  13. Happy to report that the trigger pin was quite easy to remove on mine, I think because I asked them to change from a SAO trigger to a DA/SA so it had already been punched out once. Installing the Eemanntech 8lb main spring and -15% CZ trigger return spring has made the trigger much nicer already (the factory SA was already great). The DA still feels quite gritty. I'm waiting for a few CZ parts to arrive such as the competition disconnector (hopefully it's compatible) and will polish some of the internals to try and remove that final grittiness.
  14. Thanks for the info. I'm waiting for some Eemanntech parts to arrive. Was the trigger pin very difficult to remove, similar to a factory Shadow trigger pin? And did the CZ trigger need any fitting/modifications in order to fit the Redback? I agree with the issue with the large left hand safety. I'm finding that my support hand sometimes bumps it up slightly during shooting.
  15. Anyone have any updated loads for the Redback? Does it have a short chamber like the CZ Shadows, requiring a short OAL?
  16. I've invested in an Armanov floating toolhead and some floating lock rings. I plan to use that toolhead for my 50m PPC precision loads.
  17. That's an outstanding group - what velocity are you getting with that load?
  18. Seconded this, would love to get a RHT holster for the Redback
  19. I'm by no means a high level shooter, but I follow the school of "grip very hard with support hand and keep a relaxed grip in the firing hand". I know what you mean about applying some pressure with the firing hand pinky to help lock the firing hand wrist. I do that too but only when shooting one-handed. If two handed, my firing hand remains neutral and relaxed.
  20. Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there any reason why a 9mm revolver might be inherently less accurate than one chambered for 38spl?
  21. So basically, there's no reason why the Shadow 2, a gun made for production division, doesn't have a decocker?
  22. I believe decockers have heavier triggers, but I could just be perpetuating a myth.
  23. I've narrowed down the culprit to CBC headstamped brass. S&B gauges, plunks and spins freely without fail. It does make sense, CBC brass seems to be thicker or "harder". I've found there to be a lot more resistance when resizing CBC brass vs S&B brass.
