  1. Gunbroker ad for the Stock III 9mm. I'm guessing this is the same one that was listed in the Benos classifieds, but I don't know that for sure. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=427641933

    Sig P320

So I've read some magazine reviews, but does anyone have any personal range time with the P320 yet? I'm interested in your opinion. Would like to get a firsthand report on the trigger, function, etc.
  3. I can't tell from the picture as I can't see the front of the muzzle, but with the HAJO sight maybe you got an Accu Shadow, which is even better than the Shadow Target. Ask your dealer if it has the Accu bushing on the front.
  4. I concur with Staudacher. I've put the complete uppers from my P226 4.4" on my X-5 Competition and L1 and shot them without any issues. Almost like converting the X-5 to an X-5 Short & Smart.
  5. Thanks for the info guys. Did a Google search with "Tanfoglio Stock II Australian" and found this link. So I assume this is NOT available in the U.S.? http://www.tanfoglio.com.au/c/122/stock.html
  6. So I see on the USPSA Approved Production list under Tanfoglio is a Stock II L 4.93" in 9mm. Not a Stock III, but a Stock II. Is anyone familiar with this model? I can't find it on either EAA or Tanfoglio website, nor can I find any info doing a Google search. Is the 4.93" barrel on the Stock II L also a bull barrel like on the standard 4.5" Stock II, or does it have a standard barrel like the Stock III? And what does the "L" refer to (Long, Limited)? It's on The List for Production, so I assume it must exist.
  7. He's got to be a prodigy! Thats awesome Pretty much. It would be Ben Stoeger.

    Sig on steel?

I switched from Limited division, shooting SA only, to Production division this summer, shooting a DA/SA pistol. There is an adjustment period to getting acclimated to the DA first shot, but after awhile it's no big deal. Like anything else it just takes practice time. Many of the top Production shooters are shooting DA/SA pistols (EAA/Tanfoglio Stock II, CZ SP01 Shadow).
  9. It's still all very confusing. The current Accu that I bought from my local FFL several months ago (when the price was several hundred $ less than current pricing) is of course Production legal. Now, maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that CZ Custom made all the Accu Shadows, even for those being listed on CZ USA website? So if this assumption is correct (and it may not be), my current CZ Accu Shadow that at some point had to come from CZ Custom (again, if my assumption that ALL Accu's are made at CZ Custom is correct), is of course Production legal. But, if I send in the slide for my Shadow Target and have the Accu bushing added, the adding of the Accu bushing makes the gun illegal in Production. Even though the guns are absolutely identical in every way, except that one had the Accu bushing added before it was sold retail, the other had the Accu bushing added after it was sold retail. Correct? Maybe not?
  10. So I'm really confused at this point. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but here is how I understand it up to this point: If you send in an SP01 Shadow complete upper assembly to be retrofit for an Accu bushing, the gun is illegal in Production. If you replace the Shadow entire upper assembly with an Accu Shadow entire upper assembly that came directly from CZ, then it's legal. Per 21.3? ???
  11. I don't ask if you aren't ready to except the clarification. Sometime ambiguity can be your friend. That's true. I have an Accu Shadow as primary Production gun and a Shadow Target for back up. I was thinking about sending in the Shadow Target to CZC for upgrade to have an identical backup. I'd hate to have to sell the Shadow Target, then try to find an Accu somewhere to buy to replace it, when the simple solution would be to send the Shadow Target slide to CZC. Because either way it's the same identical gun whether I buy an Accu or have a Shadow retro fitted to an Accu. But it would also save me money just having the Shadow slide retro fitted based on what I paid for the Shadow Target. And, the Accu I currently have I paid several hundred dollars less than what they are currently selling for.
  12. Does anyone have an actual ruling from Amidon of "yea" or "nay" if a Shadow slide retrofitted with an Accu bushing is Production legal or not, assuming it's also on an SP01 Shadow frame? That would clear this up.
  13. So what happened at the class? Did you ask Ben to shoot a group with your gun? He did that for a couple shooters at the class I attended as well. Eric Yes. Ben and Matt both shot several guns to see if they were zeroed.
  14. All good info. After Area 5 I'll run some drills with the timer to see what works best. I'm sure it will be if I am eventually going to be closer to a target at some point running the stage, wait until I get closer. Just wanted some good advice before Area 5.
  15. That was kind of my thought, to wait and shoot when I get closer also meaning I do another reload. BUT, I normally will shoot the target from the farther position for no other reason than I can and it's too tempting not to shoot it since I'm already in a position to shoot it.
  16. Here is my conundrum. I'm shooting Production. I'm terrible at stage planning because I haven't yet figured out when to shoot a target that can be shot from two different locations (with one location closer to the target than another). For example, I'm not sure if I should minimize mag changes by reaching out to some targets at a distance, keeping my mag changes to a minimum, or not worry about the number of mag changes and shoot the targets from a closer position as I move through the stage? I haven't figured out if minimizing mag changes is more optimal, or being as close to a target as possible is more optimal even if it means more mag changes (of course all the while avoiding standing reloads regardless of strategy)? Obviously I will shoot more slowly the farther the target, but since I'm already in that spot to shoot other targets, will it save me time? Or, should I wait until i can get closer, meaning more mag changes, and have a faster first shot and follow up shot? I'm pretty good at reloads. When I was shooting Limited, it really wasn't an issue. Maybe one reload per stage. But shooting Production has turned stage planning into more of a chess match than a game of checkers.
  17. I haven't had any problems with the sight drifting with the HAJO sight on my Accu, but I have to admit I'm not liking the HAJO rear sight. I prefer a completely fixed rear sight, or the Shadow Target adjustable rear sight.

    VZ Beretta grips

I've got VZ grips on my Beretta and they seem identical in size and shape. Yes, they have a more aggressive texture, but absolutely no issues if you need to slightly turn the gun to access mag release. Definitely get yourself a set of VZ's.
  19. You say you have a class with Stoeger coming up this weekend? A few months ago we had a class with Ben Stoeger and Matt Mink. At the start of the class they asked if anyone was unsure if their gun was "zeroed?" If so, they would stand at approximately 20 yards and free hand style shoot the gun in question to see if POA=POI. I'm sure Ben will do the same at your class, which might be a real big help to determine if your gun is at POA=POI. Because of my crappy shooting skills, I was only about 60%-70% sure I was zeroed (I had been shooting the gun only a few weeks at that point). Just to make sure I had him shoot my CZ and it was dead on POA=POI.

    Grips

I've got fairly large hands, I wear Large/X-large gloves. And I don't have any problems with the VZ Diamondback grips. Yes, I wish they were a little thicker, but I don't have any issues with them. I actually prefer them because of the aggressive pattern that allows for a better grip on the gun, especially in hot weather when palms are sweating. If the CZC grips on the Shadow Target fit your grip ok, than the VZ Diamondback grips will fit your hand also.

    Grips

I've found the VZ Diamond Grips to be superior to anything else I've tried. I'll post a pic so you can see the difference in grips. From top to bottom: CZ Accu Shadow with VZ Diamond Grips CZ Shadow Target with stock CZ Custom grips CZ SP01 (that I've upgraded trigger, hammer, sights, etc) with CZ Thick Aluminum Grips CZ SP01 Tactical with VZ Diamond Grips
  22. I can speak from experience as I own and have competed with an X5 Allround in Production, an X5 Competition and an X5 L1 in Limited, and an STI Edge in Limited. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the X5 L1 is the best gun I've ever owned. You won't find a gun that will shoot a tighter grouping. In terms of reliability, the X5 is good to go for competition right out of the box. They will feed any ammo reliably. I own two STI Edges that have been tuned for competition. And they are finicky depending on the ammo they use. So in this regard the X5 has the advantage. However, in terms of mag capacity for Limited and Open, the STI Edge definitely has the advantage. I finally threw in the towel on the X5 in Limited in favor of the Edge for that very reason. If the X5 can at some point be designed to hold a 140mm mag that holds 20 rds of .40, I'll switch back to the X5 in a heartbeat. And by the way, I've been using aftermarket magwells for my X5 Comp and L1 for the last few years made by Staudacher (see post above), and they are definitely better than the stock magwells that come with the X5 and are extremely well made.
  23. And Max Michel, Sigs sponsored shooter, shoots an STI/SVI based custom gun in Open division of USPSA, not an X5. He does shoot an X5 L1 in Limited 10 and an Allround in Production. But, he RARELY ever competes in these divisions. He competes almost exclusively in Open.
  24. Respect you opinion, but I think your way off base. I have owned two STI guns. I now shoot a P226 X Five Lwt. My honest thought is that this is a suburb pistol. Now to say it sucks. Wow ! Are you pitching or catching. Thanks for your thoughts. I agree. My personal opinion is that my Sig X5 L1 .40 is a better all around gun than my STI Edge .40, with one exception. Magazine capacity. Even with Roger Sherman's extended basepads to keep the mag under the 140mm rule per USPSA Limited division, I can only get 17+1 in my X5 of .40. With my Edge and with extended basepads to get to the 140mm, i can get 20+1 in some, and 21+1 in a few others. It may not seem like a big difference, but anyone that shoots in USPSA competition knows it's a huge deal. But as I've said, I personally believe the X5 L1 is the absolute best gun that one can shoot in all area's except mag capacity. But if you don't need max mag capacity for competition, it's the best. Period.
