  1. This is good to hear. I ordered some bullets from Bayou to try in a stock Glock barrel. I'm not sure about the difference in coatings. I like the idea of making PF with less powder, but I don't like the idea of a leaded up barrel causing a KB. I searched here and it looks like lots of people are having good luck with coated bullets and Glock barrels. I tried powder coating with no luck in a stock barrel. I also tried the Hi-Tek coating from Bayou on my own cast bullets but it still wasn't perfect. It was fine for my SS in 45 and in my SIG 226 in 40 but I still had some leading. I think that I had lead alloy issue. I will keep trying to iron it out, I have enough of the coating for a few years of practice ammo.
  2. Sorry for your loss. I have great admiration for all that serve. Thanks for your service and prayers to his friends and family.
  3. I have only used a couple hundred or so from Berry's and maybe 1000 or so Rainiers (I could get these locally) and I couldn't really tell the difference. I tried Xtreme's about 2 years ago and haven't gone back to Berrys or Rainiers. I ordered some bullets from Bayou to try out. From what I've read here, people have had good luck with the stock Glock barrels.
  4. This gun looks familiar. Do you shoot over at Crooked Creek? Yes I do. One of the few lefties at Crooked Creek. Her first putting was just last month's opening match. You? Cuong Yep. My son and I shot with you guys in the afternoon squad. We are both shooting Glocks in limited this year, though not as set up as yours. In fact mine is just a stock 35.

  6. I use the pinky ext. on my 27. The +2 is a little bulky for concealment, for me at least. I believe thinner guys would have better luck in the comfort department.
  7. I sent in my application. Guys at the local monthly match went last year and had a great time. Sounds like a good time.
  8. I would order 180gr. RNFP's from extreme. They are reasonable, pricewise. If you are just getting started I would suggest keeping it simple. You can pretty much treat plated bullets like jacketed ones at regular handgun velocities. I don't have anything against coated bullets, in fact I used Bayou bullets coating for my cast bullets last year. You do have to keep an eye out for shaving the coating off during seating. I always seat and crimp in 2 different steps. It may easier to work out the kinks with plated until you get comfortable with your set up. Bayou bullets and Extreme have both been great for me. Pick one and go. I don't think that you can really go wrong either way.
  9. Thanks guys. I checked the list before. I figured the major differences from the legal Elite's to the TacOps was just the magwell grips. I already have 4 of the extended magazines so I'll probably just shoot in Limited for now.
  10. If I take off the magwell grips and replace them with a standard set of 226 grips will I be legal for USPSA Production? Can I use the extended magazines that came with it?
  11. I have never used it on a Glock frame but I have used Duracoat on some AR's and FN SLP furniture with excellent results. Neither see the kind of use that a Glock frame should see but I wouldn't hesitate to try it.
  12. When you say "blowback", do you mean that you can feel stuff hitting your arms and face? If so, I get the same thing with my PT1911 with lower pressure loads. With "full throttle" 230's I don't see the issue. For my USPSA loads I like 200 grainers. Unique is the worst(down right annoying), HP-38 is a little better, but Titegroup has the least amount of blowback. I assumed that the Taurus has a sloppy chamber and needs the extra pressure the seal it up. I doubt that a Springfield has a sloppy chamber. I am new to this so take this with a grain of salt.
  13. Novak sells an PT specific adjustable rear sight thats reasonable. I'm not sure if its listed on their site but if you call you can order it for $50 OR $60.
  14. I just started shooting USPSA this year at local matches that cost $15 for me and $10 for my son. Hotels and big matches are pretty much out of the question at this point of my life. I would like to try it at least one national match just so I could say that I did, but I don't think that my current skill level would make it worth it. $25/month for 8 months ( no matches during winter months ) for match fees = $200 0.14/round of .40 800 rounds = $115 0.10/round of 45 ACP 800 rounds = $80 A little bit of practice doubles the round count per month 0.14/round of .40 800 rounds = $115 0.10/round of 45 ACP 800 rounds = $80 TOTAL $590 We have fun and get better everytime.
  15. Wow! Lots of shooters in Ohio. I am from Middelfield and have been shooting at the Crooked Creek Pistol league in Hartsgrove. I ventured up to Gem City a couple of weeks ago. I am sure I will see some of you guys around.
  16. Just signed up after finding this site through a search. I just started sooting local USPSA matches and there is a lot to learn. This place has lots of useful discussions.
