  1. 3 Gun Pistols are an interesting concept because when I go to research what I want to do to my gun, or who I want to buy from, or what small modifications I want to make with parts... I go to the USPSA sub forums and read. Most 3 Gun pistols would fit into the USPSA Limited Minor category but since this sport has exploded in the past few years, I was hoping that there would be a sub-forum dedicated to 3-Gun pistols. It just so happens that almost nobody in 3 Gun is shooting .40 major, or has a *thumb rest [generic]*, or a charging handle, and since there's plenty of room for 3-Gun specific vendors it makes sense to me. So what say you Enos forum multi-gunners? Has the time come?
  2. I hope everyone enjoyed the Peacemaker range, if it was your first time then we hope to have you back in the future. If you shot the Super Steel side event then you saw the MGM spinners stage (there was actually 8 in there) and I don't know of anyone who got them all spinning within the par time. Special thanks to the Range Officers who ran this match and the 3GN team who set it up. It was a long hot week for all you and it was very much appreciated.
  3. And I forgot to time a 10yd plate rack run because I was too busy pouting about a bad stage at the 3GN Regional today. Penalties. Lots of penalties.
  4. If you're shooting the 3GN Eastern Regional this weekend at Peacemaker then you should be aware of the following event also happening on site at the same time. Since 3GN is an AM/PM schedule there will be some downtime if you want to fill it with more shooting, here's your chance. Peacemaker Super Steel match! This is a very high round count falling and static steel match with 5 stages and 50 shots per stage. 250 required shots so bring more than enough ammo. If you're going to shoot a low capacity gun like Single Stack or Production then you better bring enough magazines too. Either handgun or shotgun may be used. Scoring is time plus penalties. Each stage will have a par time. You'll shoot a hoard of steel including propeller pate racks, whirly gigs, a fleet of poppers, knock offs, US Poppers, Special Plate Racks, dueling trees and whatever else we have to throw down on the range. Cost is $35 for PNTC Members $45 For Non-Members Recognizing the following divisions - Open, Limited, Production, Single Stack, Revolver, Tactical Shotgun, Open Shotgun (in the future also considering Pistol Caliber Carbine) Signup online beforehand http://www.peacemakernational.com/or at the HQ
  5. I will be finding out this weekend, haven't done it in a long time but will try to get pistol and shotgun times because why not?? Sorry I don't have a .22 rifle though!!
  6. You can have a sling on your rifle every stage if you want
  7. From the holster, hands at sides, standing at 10 yards, going one for one... on a Plate Rack - What are your times? What division are you shooting? Where is your focus?
  8. So far in a match I've only switched to rifle weak shoulder once when I wasn't mandated to, and there's been a few times when I've forgot the weak shoulder mandate altogether taking some ridiculously high penalties. If you're practicing weak shoulder as a regular thing how much time do you spend on it and how slow are you on it compared to strong side rifle / shotgun?
  9. How much does anyone on here practice weak shoulder shooting (rifle or shotgun)? I hardly ever see it in local or major competitions, and as a result I hardly practice it.
  10. I am surprised to hear that I'm the only one who's experienced this happening. Before I bought a 12rd tube I ran an 8rd tube and split a briley extended choke dumping it in a barrel. They replaced it immediately but I just don't want it to happen again. I would rather have the mag tube take the impact than the muzzle OR choke but if there's no ready solution than I'll figure it out. Thanks everyone.
  11. Sooner or later I'm going to destroy my choke by dumping my 8rd tube shotgun into a barrel. Should I get a choke flush with the barrel or is there some kind of extension I can use on the magazine tube to take the impact? What are you other Irons/Factory/Limited shooters doing?
  12. It's important to note that stage reset for this match was very quick by using targets that didn't actually have to be picked up off the ground or pasted. Many just flipped back to an upright position, or were hanging static targets. Only a few targets on a few stages actually had to be pasted (cardboards), or replaced (clays), or reset on pedestals (falling steel). Very good time saver and this match would not run as smooth without this kind of setup. Something tells me alot of forethought went into that aspect of the match since each squad had 10-13 teams with 3 shooters each. This may also be an important consideration for any other 90rd shotgun stages about to spring up...
  13. July 18 This weekend I shot the Topton 3 Man 3 Gun with my teammates Chris Rhines and Bill Weinell, TEAM PEACEMAKER Stage 1 - https://youtu.be/yqe80PaNUHM?list=PLLPCEpy1jULgKVxCRHPe31dvEYGugyDhw Stage 2 - https://youtu.be/t8_jI7GBw84?list=PLLPCEpy1jULgKVxCRHPe31dvEYGugyDhw Stage 3 - https://youtu.be/7OB1RxNbzsE?list=PLLPCEpy1jULgKVxCRHPe31dvEYGugyDhw Stage 5 - https://youtu.be/cv3HuO-CJuQ?list=PLLPCEpy1jULgKVxCRHPe31dvEYGugyDhw Stage 6 - https://youtu.be/XCNIo0fd65g?list=PLLPCEpy1jULgKVxCRHPe31dvEYGugyDhw We all made some mistakes that cost us time, but I was the only one to actually gain a penalty. +10 seconds moved us from 7th to 8th place
  14. July 12 I failed to make Master today at a USPSA classifier. Very big bummer. I shot the courses of fire that I was most comfortable with and it gave me 4 scores, which should result in an initial Limited classification but it will be A class instead of Master. Oh well, I really should do Steve Anderson dry fire if I want the paper certification of Master since his program is the way to do it - but I also only kinda care. Time to go back and focus on 3 Gun more.
  15. July 11 The training day I had at Echo Valley was so far the biggest and best to date. Finally into the double digits of attendance we started the day with accuracy, then transitioning targets, then moved into weapons manipulations and speed shooting, and then a drill to resemble the shooting in a stop & go CoF, and then an "on the move" CoF. Lastly for the people who stuck around we did some 300 yard shooting hilltop to hilltop. Very good day.
  16. July 5 Today I shot Gravitas Outlaw Steel Match at North Mountain. What a great time!! Red white and blue painted targets everywhere, even some of the steel was painted to look like little british soldiers wearing the redcoat uniforms. Very impressive setup. In the AM session I shot pistol twice as myself and under an assumed name, placing 3rd and 4th in Limited. Then in the PM session I shot shotgun in the Tactical division and won, even with all the reloading, using an 8rd tube, and shooting against 2 guys with subguns! By the time I was finished shooting the shotgun on most stages the very nice paintjobs were mostly obliterated and the redcoats were back to wearing their usual solid dull grey. I also brought out a new shooter to this event and she did very good with no special competition gear. A .40 caliber Beretta PX4 off the shelf, leather hip holster, and 3 standard capacity magazines... Considering that the accuracy requirement for this match was HIGH and this was some of the hardest pistol shooting that I have seen in the action sports... wow, she crushed it. For example - there were 24 five pointed stars each 6 inches in diameter with a 2 inch hole in the center. The surface area to actually get a hit was minimal. Knowing that these targets weren't easy and watching experienced shooters spend half a magazine on something... it was a great learning experience to watch the AM session. When it was her time to shoot everyone was impressed. Myself, the match director, the other shooters. When too high of accuracy is required by shooters in the action sports, it really slows things down, and causes many people to have a bad time shooting. Some people just aren't going to be able to hit the targets. Having never shot with her before, I didn't know what to think but like I said, wow she crushed it. Her stance and grip need adjustment, she needs to be dominating the gun more, and embrace speed - but the hardest thing to teach is apparently already done. Her trigger control is fantastic. Just the right amount of finesse and patience to break clean shots all day long.
  17. July 4 I was signed up for Peacemaker USPSA and it was raining when I got there, the match director said he hadn't yet bagged any targets, and so I bailed to shoot Steel Challenge instead. No pasters, no movement through mud, no reset at all, and something I don't shoot very much. I shot pretty well, with times that an A class shooter should probably have and lost only to the rimfire optics rifle division shooters (aka, cheaters!)
  18. Another fantastic match at Topton! I'm always impressed with the variety of shooting challenges presented using the team format and short bays. Very good job and looking forward to next year. Thank you to the sponsors, but really the match staff for making this possible.
  19. I've been using this load as my occasional shell to throw in for an unusually hard birdshot steel but rarely actually use it, and never practice with it http://www.federalpremium.com/products/details/shotshell.aspx?id=408 It's a 2&3/4 inch shell with 1&1/4 ounce of #6 at 1500 FPS. I haven't yet had a target that this hasn't dropped but I know there's got to be hotter stuff that people are using, and some people use their hotter birdshot loads to rock MGM spinners. With that in mind, what's the ballpark choke & load & distance combo that have been successful?
  20. Picking up a pistol dump bucket for practice at the range Bought some Remington Managed Recoil Slugs Planned this weekends regional training day
  21. Without base pads on your magazines its going to be pretty hard to use 'em.
  22. Check the rules for the match you're shooting, there is no one answer.
