  1. It would be too much of a game changer and the sport would implode!
  2. Anyone know where I can get a 16" barrel for a Glock 34 so I can attach a shoulder stock? That qualifies for PCC right?
  3. I guess it depends on the match and match director
  4. I don't know about a "break in" procedure or time frame for a shotgun other than "just go shoot it". In my experience it either works or it doesn't but here are some other ideas commonly discussed here - Open the loading port for quad loading Install a match saver Maybe a rear sight for slug shooting? Buy a choke set (tightest you'll need is MOD) Find a slug that runs 100% then buy a ton Know where that slug hits at 25, 50, 75, 100 Find birdshot that runs 100% then buy a ton Know where that load patterns at 10, 20, 30, 40 Also a very good idea to go shoot various steel targets at various distances so you know what you can & can't knock down with your specific choke & load
  5. Saturday 19 March 2016 Peacemaker 3 Gun happened today but instead I worked on stuff for the NRA 3-Gun class. I did see some regulars at Peacemaker shooting the match in the 30 degree weather enduring the rain, sleet and snow.
  6. It's with the 3 gun pistol subforum...
  7. Depends on the Sig I guess. There was a thread a while back about possible changes to limited / irons divisions and pistol mag capacity was discussed. Being that 3 gun is a high capacity sport, 15 seemed to be the happy medium where mags would be downloaded enough to change the game but still high capacity enough that people wouldn't have to carry 5 mags on their belt to shoot a course of fire. Thank you Stlhead for getting that thread going way back when.
  8. Warm weather finally coming back in my area, can't wait to get out to the range and see how this goes
  9. In the factory division shotguns are also limited in capacity and the intent behind it is to force a change in game planning through reloads between the Optics and Irons divisions
  10. 7.3.1.4 means in the 3GN Factory division all pistol magazines are going to be limited to 15rds but you can have +1 in the chamber at the start 7.3.1.5 means that you don't need to use actual 15rd capped mags and you can download higher capacity mags to meet division requirements The intent is this applies to the first magazine you shoot through the gun and all subsequent magazines used during a course of fire Confirmation is available by emailing 3GN and asking for clarification but it's pretty clear already and that's how the game is currently being played, scored, etc
  11. Sunday 6 March 2016 The season started today with my first practice session. I demo'd some stuff for a new shooter and didn't really shoot much myself but instead helped them get ready for "not sucking" at their first USPSA competition. After driving out to Peacemaker we set up in a bay and did some accuracy, draw, speed shooting, target transitions, reloads, and movement drills. Unfortunately it was all pistol shooting and I didn't shoot very much anyway but it reinforces what I was kind of thinking... I need to start practicing because I'm rusty from sitting around the past few months. I'm hopeful that with the new family situation and responsibilities on the farm that I can still find some time to get to the range because at this point every foreseeable weekend is booked doing something. I might have to finally resort to doing dry fire!
  12. Prepped gear for the first NRA sponsored 3 gun class at Peacemaker
  13. The CRP-18-Pro, Armalite and JP guns are going to have what most 3 gunners are looking for out of the box (compensator, adj gas block, nice trigger, FF rail, etc) that the FN doesn't but you can do well with all of them
  14. Not being an open shooter I didn't realize they were aluminum, I figured they were steel... Wow
  15. I don't know about threading requirements but have you looked at the comps on 9mm open pistols? They seem to work pretty well.
  16. A "large" USPSA pistol course of fire is 32 rounds and probably 25 yards of movement I like it when the pistol portion of a course is that, then comes the shotgun and later the rifle follows I'd love to see a mega match at Woody's this year with every course breaking 100rds
  17. Damon, a mega match with high round counts would be AWESOME! Can I make some recommendations? Get rid of the capacity restrictions for Limited and Heavy to make it easier for those shooters to carry more ammo Increase the rifle round count by putting more long range targets beyond 100 yards instead of more papers inside 50 Only have 1-2 "hard shots" on any course because the amount of game planning, shooting, reloading, movement, positions, etc etc is going to make it hard enough to finish let alone win Allowing targets as optional birdshot / pistol is nice but IT WILL TURN INTO A PISTOL MATCH if you aren't careful
  18. As admirable as true Irons is, 50% of the people who shoot 3 Gun can't even see the LR rifle targets without a scope, let alone hit them, or hit them fast.
  19. 2015 in review My season ended 2 months ago and I have gone into winter hibernation. Looking back on my performance this year I am very happy! I won my first National Champion title shooting US Carbine Association 2-Gun's No Magnification division, then had 5 top five finishes at major 3 Gun championships throughout the year including a 5th place finish at 3 Gun Nation Nationals. I got my picture in NRA's American Rifleman Magazine while at the NRA World Shooting Championship, shot my first night 3-Gun match at Starlight (thanks Chuck Anderson), and was also mentioned in 3-Gun Nation's magazine for placing well a couple of times at Regionals. The situation with my Dad's health has improved however I really don't know how many dedicated Friday training days I'm going to have next year because of responsibility to help out with the family farm (which I do want to do). But as a result I don't expect to be as successful in 2016 because Friday shooting was always fresh in my head at Saturday matches. I'm still planning on attending around 10 majors next year if I can though! Financially 2015 was an expensive year considering the ammo used during Friday training sessions, but considering just the majors I attended - match fees, travel, hotels... vs prize values, I pretty much broke even there. As I go into 2016 I now have 2 full sets of gear ready go for 3 Gun too - 2x pistols, 2x shotguns, 2x rifles (one Irons and one Optics). Best of all the 2nd set of gear was either a gun I won from a prize table finish or paid for with a prize, hooray. Looking forward to down time, and looking forward to next year.
  20. Nice to see a thread about actual irons even though I shoot a 1x optic
  21. The ever higher power scope race is just going to lead to 3 Gun becoming "DMR that happens to include a pistol and shotgun"
