  1. Just received the new springs for our pistols. We have 3 XDm .40 and an XD .40 tactical. With minor loads the XDm cycle but it seems a bit sluggish and the XD will throw an occasional stove pipe. We are not pushing the floor on power factor, so I bought the next lower weight springs. The new springs came with a firing pin spring. Is it necessary to change this as well? I'm afraid that may be beyond my skill level. Thanks, B
  2. Thanks for the information. Almost all deer are taken within 50 yards in my area, so it looks like 6.8 will fill the bill. Thanks, B
  3. I have a Stag Arms AR15 carbine, just very basic. I love the rifle, shoots great, seems very well made. But, what I'm wondering, can a 6.8 mm SPC upper be attached without modification to the lower? Although I'm not huge into hunting, I would just be more comfortable with the 6.8mm as I understand it compares favorably to .308. Plus, I can pass my bolt gun to my son. Anyone have experience in this area? Thanks, B
  4. 41 rounds, 3 mags on belt and 1 in gun. Probably be better off to load them up and shoot Limited. BUT, at my level, I'm just working on improving and mostly having a fun family outing at the match. I really love this game and don't want it to turn into golf, where I would spend $40 to be pissed off for 4 hours. Plus, my money is going for the kids to allow them to progress as fast as their interest allows. They get more mags first. LOL! B
  5. Just one pistol for me, XDm .40 4.5. But this spring, when I'm a bit fatter, I'm getting a compact XDm. B
  6. Trudge zombie series by Shawn Chesser. Eh, not bad, but not great. Probably going to go back to Lee Child or Vince Flynn next. I love the zombie genre, but have yet to read one that ends well, or even ends, with the possible exception of WWZ. B
  7. My LGS just advertised 9 Bushmasters for $789 each. Glad he is honest! B
  8. An uncle and I gave one of my sons a new XDm .40. Now we all can shoot and not have to run back to the safe area and swap gear! How about some bullets, Sarge!! LOL! Same last name it would be like helping family! Just kidding!!! B
  9. I loved living at Fort Rich when I was a kid! After Dad retired and we moved home, I convinced the Kentucky kids that there were 3 story igloo hotels! B
  10. I'm 4 months out of SLAP surgery on my weak side shoulder. I'm a ways off of 100%. Still pain everyday, some more than others. But it's getting better. After my first therapy I was pretty sure I was disabled for life, but looks like I'm going to be fine. LOL! Do your therapy!!!! Of course I HAD to shoot our last club match a few weeks back. I knew mag changes would suck, but a classifier with 2 weak hand strings? Ouch! B
  11. Merry Christmas and God bless us all, every one!
  12. My experience Clays had MUCH less smoke than TG. But I'm still testing. Probably going to experiement with the lube as well. B
  13. Welcome! I was born in Evreux, to American parents. So my stay was fairly short. Enjoy the madness and good shooting! B
  14. The silver lining to all this is that I get to dryfire, shoot, test, experiment, retest, learn, and did I say shoot, all winter! I have a plan! B
  15. That is sweet! Production legal? Seems some of the rules, understandably, are a little picky.
  16. The 50 round boxes work better for me than the 250 round boxes. I always lose the cardboard piece that helps pull them out.
  17. It started off that while dryfiring, I noticed the white dot was distracting me. I already blackened the rear dots. I'm shooting an XDm .40 4.5 in production. Dad has same, son has XD tactical. I had no confidence in the sights, always about 4 to 5 inches left at 10 yards. I figured it was me, but I shoot Dad's 2-3 inches left, and the XD dead on. I drifted the rear, (a lot), and I'm dead on. If I had the right tools, I would like to drift front and rear. But the sight picture issue came up during dryfire practice. I'm concentrating on grip, sight picture, and trigger squeeze. I would always catch the dot with my eye, then line up the sights. But, if my lighting was low, I noticed I would just get my sight picture, much quicker. Then I got confused if my sight picture was correct. Admittedly, as I improve, the POI may start drifting right, but at this point, I don't think I have major trigger squeeze issues. Thanks, Bob
  18. LOL, most of the time! Or right, or high, and sometimes low!
  19. Thanks for the advice. I have lots of experience with irons in service rifle competition, and I used a 6 o'clock or pumpkin on a post hold. Everything else I shot center of mass. I'm new enough at this game that I can learn anything, just don't want to learn twice. Personally, I don't think it matters much as long as one is consistent AND has adjustable sights. Thanks again, B
  20. Here is my sight pisture as I see it superimposed over imaginary crosshairs. Am I doing it wrong? Sorry got confused. B
  21. The dot isn't my POA, but if you can imagine cross hairs like a scope, I would have the top of the sights lined up with the horizontal hair and centered on the vertical hair. So ultimately, in a perfect world, I would expect my POI would result in the top half of the bullet hole to be visible centered on the top of my front post. At least that is how I imagine a perfect shot. Am I doing it wrong? B
  22. Maybe a silly question, but we have 2 identical XDms, and I was wondering if there is an easy way to fill the cartouche and trades with paint or something on one to make it easier to identify? I know there are probably easier ways to mark one, and you can throw those out there as well. Got to be Production legal, though. Thanks, B
