    My M&P9

Well I'm going to add a little more for ya. I have been doing a lot of testing lately with the MP and bullets. This week I again tested all bullet weights, OAL, and PF's from 120 -135. I did find that the Hornady XTP 124g over 4.2g N320 @ both 1.069 and 1.130 both shot 3" groups of 30 rounds @ 25 yards with over half all touching in 1.5". This is as well, if not better, as any 147g ( MG, Berries, BB, 147g 3.4-6 N320 @ 1.130) previously recorded at 3-4" which was the standard benchmark for my MP Pro with either the OEM or KKM barrel. Up to this point the 147g bullets are grouped better than 124g bullets by 1-2". Now I need to figure out why the Hor 124g XTP shot 1-2" better than all other 124g tested? The one note was that the Hor 124g was loaded the same as the MG @ 4.2g N320 @ and went 135PF as opposed to the MG @ 125PF and all previous tests of 124g bullets were done at 125PF so back to the test range to test this load again & shoot these groups against MG, Berries and BB with all bullets at 135PF instead of 125PF to see if that helps????? Maybe the accuracy will be better with the 124g @ 135PF????
  2. Yes you are correct. If I remove the slide the click goes away. Working with Scott at Apex over the phone we determined that it was the sear engagement / striker engagement point which is why he sent me another sear to try. Unfortunately it did the same thing but maybe slightly less but that where everything ended as Apex does not find it important to return my many emails or phone calls about this problem. I will say that the pro sear does not do it which seems to indicate it is the Apex sears. I would have appreciated to had you, or anyone, figure this out. I'm looking at changing to a different platform may Glock or SF since I'm not overly impressed with the accuracy either.
  3. Nope not the plastic trigger piece or the RAM reset which operates properly. I also had some grit which initially thought may have been the center rough surface of the USB but Scott and I eliminated that. 1500 dry fires took care of the grit. Here is the video link. Fast forward to the 45 second mark.
  4. I found the Pro sear to be much smoother and it did not have a "click" associated with it on the initial first part of the travel. I can make the sear "click" back and forth, backl and forth prior to moving to the second half of the trigger pull. I have exchanged every part with new parts and it is isolated to the sear. I spoke to Scott at Apex, sent them a video, and received a new sear from Apex that made no to maybe little difference. Since then Apex has ignored all phone calls and emails to solve the problem for over two months now. The Pro sear with Apex parts is a much smoother trigger action but it is 1/2 heavier from just under 3 to just over 3.

  6. Trident, my gun shoots 147's more accurately than any other weight - you might want to try different weight bullets What load and OAL?
  7. Trident, my gun shoots 147's more accurately than any other weight - you might want to try different weight bullets Yep, my MP 9 Pro with KKM barrel ( and stock barrel) seems to as well. (See other recent post). The 147g seems to be 2" better tighter groups using N320 @ 1.130 but have have tried many different lengths from 1.120 - 1.150 and found no difference in accuracy from varying lengths. I have tried MG, Berry's, and BB but not an OEM bullet like Hornady so I wanted to be able to eliminate the possibility of the bullet causing the larger groups in the 124g. I loaded 25 ea of 4.2g N320 @ 1.110 and 1.130. Hornady manual lists 1.06 COL and will compare against Berries HBRN and MG 124 JHP and MG 124 CMJ. I need a plated or coated 124g to go under 2" at 25 yards for use in CQB houses where required.
  8. In continuing to find a 124g load, or bullet that will shoot 2" from a MP9 Pro I'm going to try a Hornady bullet to see if it may be a bullet issue with the MG, Berries, or BB etc.... But... I cant seems to find any load data for it using VV N-320 at ??? OAL. Im really needing a plated bullet that will shoot 2" but.... Anyway, anyone loaded or tested these yet?
  9. Vihtavuori 320 Extremely clean burning; Very light recoil; But a little fast burning/high pressure for maximum loads; Expensive, more difficult to locate. Hodgdon Clays Very clean burning; Very light recoil; But a little fast burning/high pressure for maximum loads; Reasonably priced, easy to locate. Hodgdon Tight Group Medium clean burning; Fairly sharp recoil; Very low pressure for all loads; Reasonably priced, easy to locate.
  10. This is almost my exact load... I load them out to 1.145" and it easily makes PF out my MP40 Pro with the KKM 40-9 conversion barrel. Titegroup= Hot & dirty Vihtavuori 320 Extremely clean burning; Very light recoil; But a little fast burning/high pressure for maximum loads Hodgdon Clays Very clean burning; Very light recoil; But a little fast burning/high pressure for maximum loads Hodgdon Tight Group Medium clean burning; Fairly sharp recoil; Very low pressure for all loads

Now go to 25 yards and 50 yards, not feet, and post your photos.

  14. 3.6g VV N320 under MG 147g out of MP 9 Pro = 2"-3" @ 25 yards and soft @ 130-135 PF.

I have 2500 rounds on the stock barrel which will shoot 124g 6-8" @ 25 yards and 147g 4-6". KKM made 1-2" better regardless of bullet but 147g still were the best at 3"-4" @ 25 yards meaning a 3" group with 1 or 2 flyers to 4". Each test was a group of 16 rounds.
  16. And what would you load be? I just bought a KKM to try to get below 6" at 25 yards and are getting 3"-4" with 147's and 4"-5" with 135 and 6"-8" with 124g's all at 130-135 PF.

This is an interesting post as for the last several weeks I have been trying to get better than 6-8" accuracy from my MP9 Pro @ 25 yards to the point where I purchased a new KKM barrel. I also installed the full Apex treatment and found that while the trigger weight increased by 1/2# with the OEM Pro sear as opposed to the Apex sear the noticeable and audible "click" on the initial first part of the trigger pull is absent and the overall feel is smother, although 1/2# heavier, with the OEM Pro sear. I spoke with Scott at Apex about his sent them video ext.... about this issue. They sent a replacement sear which is better but still present and we are working on it. It seems to have to do with the firing pin to sear, manufacturing surfaces of the Apex sear. The best overall trigger feel is with the OEM Pro sear and APEX comp parts, RAM, and USB. The Apex sear is good for another 1/2 pound off the trigger pull but then I have the click. I have tried MG 124g CMJ and JHP, MG 147g, BB 124g, 135g and 147g, and Berries 124g HBRN, 147g At 10 yards 124g's will shoot inside 2.5" circles consistantly. 124s MG loaded with VV 4.2-3g N320 shoot consistent 6-8" at 25 yards in multiple tests firing group of 16 rounds. 6" groups with 1 -2 flyers of 8". I have tried OAL's from 1.145 to 1.120 with no noticeable change. MG 147g over 3.6g N320 produce 3" groups at 25 yards as does BB 147's. BB 135's shoot 4-5". It is clear to me after several (20-25) 16 round tests that my stock and now new KKM barrels both prefer the heavier bullets with 147g being the best as is the KKM barrel. I'm trying to get the lighter bullets to be under 6" so if anyone has any suggestions Im all ears.
  18. I have tried just about everything stock and KKM barrels to try to get MG 124g CMJ & JHP, Bayous, Berries HBRN & HBFN from 1.145 to 1.120 over 4.3g N320 for 130-135PF to shoot 25 yr groups smaller than 6". 147's over 3.6g N320 from MG, Berries, or Bayou all shoot under 3". Clearly in every test the MP9 shoots 147's noticeably better. Does anyone have a 124g load that shoots better than 6" from a Prod MP9 @ 25yrds?
  19. +1 ALWAYS CLEAN UP AND PUT AWAY EVERYDAY. START FROM FRESH
  20. I used the new powder funnel today for the first time after polishing everything with a Dremel and a coat of car wax. I loaded N320, H335, BL-C2 and Varget and each loaded within .1 consistently with no problems.
  21. FYI: 40 or 357 sig to 9 mm listed but nothing for ".. a 9 to 357" . http://www.kkmprecision.com/custom_pistol_barrels/home.php?cat=39 OOOPS Typed that wrong meant 40 to 9 or 357. Thanks
  22. Anyone know who does good work of FN's.
  23. Here are my numbers for the HK. It liked the 124g best. 3.6g N320 under MG 147 CMJ 872 Av, ES 60, SD 16, 128 PF
  24. My apologies. I guess I could see how IDPA Safety Officer may have a thin skin towards matters like this as your probably used to it huh? But frankly.... it matters little to me. I was just curious. BTW, do you like Alpine UT? I have friends and team mates in SLC. Can you still be reached on your 8271 number if I have further IDPA rules questions?
  25. It's fine for SSP, it's not (yet) approved for production. Under SSP Rules: EXCLUDED Modifications (NON-Inclusive list): 1. Externally visible modifications other than grips or sights. 2. Robar style grip reduction. 3. Add-on magazine well opening. 4. Guide rods made of a material different from the factory part it replaces. 5. Seattle Slug Grip Plug and similar weighted products. 20 6. A barrel of another caliber that is not offered in the original factory model. 7. Slide lightening (see “slide, lightening” in glossary for further information). 8. Checkering and stippling. 9. Refer to Appendix ONE-A. Firearms-Non-IDPA-Legal Modifications. Please clarify as this seems to indicate that if your weapons serial number does not match the caliber it was offered in the original factory model then it is illegal. So a conversion from 40 to 9 would be illegal. I read it that he was planning on shooting his M&P 40 Pro with 40 loaded minor, not using a conversion barrel. Right, for SSP I would shoot the stock .40 barrel with light loaded ammo. For ESP, I would shoot the 9mm conversion barrel. Thanks for the clarification (wrong info on my part lol) on M&P Pro 40 being able to be used in SSP but not in Production. I was not meaning to imply anything I was just inquiring as I too was considering a conversion 40 to 9 barrel or a 9 to 357 and was not sure what I could do with them per the rules.
