  1. It's pretty ghetto, but one way to stop the elevation screw from moving is put a piece of black [electrical] tape over the screw to hold it in place. If you're a little more fancy, you drill your sight from the side and install a set screw.
  2. All my guns have always ejected the cases far. I set my gun up to feel good when I shoot and make sure they work, but I don't concern myself with where the brass goes. I think it's part of how the gun is designed, they all seem to do it. Changing recoil springs to try to change it is not a good idea. You might be able to adjust the ejector/extractor to change it, but you'll most likely cause a problem with function.
  3. Got checkered black grips for your match gun, but I don't have your phone number. Call me if you still want to trade back the smooth & grippy taped grip for the real thing.
  4. On that note if you're shooting brand new match at a major match (which is what I do), you can shoot Armscor RL or Starline SC, doesn't matter.
  5. The main point of using TJ brass is that it's possible to re-size the cases further down. Because of the extractor groove being cut higher up it allows the undersized die (EGW U-Die) that I recommend to straighten out the case better than any of the regular rimless cases. Having a straight case allows 28-29 rounds easier in the big-sticks and it greatly reduces chances of nose-dives.
  6. Carry holster / full holsters for Limited and Stock II frames will be best bet BladeTech. They use my Limited a few years ago to make a mold from.
  7. My shooting buddy Steinar is coming from Norway on the 21st and I made a bet with him in June that if I didn't have my bathroom finished by the time he got here I'd buy him a S&W 625. My bathroom had been sitting half-torn down for a long time and was pretty ghetto. At least according to my bud Jason. Friends of mine were seriously starting to demand a proper bathroom. I think Steinar was looking forward to receiving a nice new revolver by the time he got here, but I told him that's not going to happen and if I make a bet I intend to win it.. Luckily my new girlfriend that I met after I made the bet is very handy and is very good about doing tiles.. Without her I wouldn't have finished it on time. We still have a few finishing touches (mirror, hangers etc), but in essence shower, toilet, lights and outlets are installed and working. Next project... kitchen. And on that topic I have the beer tap already installed. Just been debating and playing with the idea of forced cold air to cool my beer lines (8' needs to be cooled as my fridge with the kegs are in the basement). Been reading on the internet about it and wanted to test it out, but looks like a glycol system may be the only way to avoid foam and get cold beer straight from the tap. I'll post some pictures later, but I've built a bar out of my kitchen.
  8. The shower will have two separate angled rods attached in the ceiling. Leo is making them for me. Stainless Steel 1" rod attached by two 3/8" solid steel rods with disks that attaches to the ceiling. We designed the shower first and it was hard to find curtain rods that would give me the biggest possible room inside the shower. Best way is to make something that is custom-fit to it. Leo's the man. If you just caught on to this thread and want to take advantage of the 20%... I'm still feeling in a b-day mood so jump on it today and I'll give you the deal.
  9. Nice!! Happy b-day JJ !!!! Well... what do you need?? Just got home from a kick-ass dinner with my girlfriend at the Keg in Denver. Had a killer Peppercorn NY Steak with a bottle of Shiraz... hmmm. tasty. Several smart people took advantage of the 20% off today. Still at least 2 hours to go and I'm not picky so whatever orders' in my inbox by the time I wake up tomorrow (which probably won't be too early) will get the deal. But now I'm gonna go to bed ;-). Looking forward to catching up on some of the Olympics this weekend...
  10. I like it... I've got 7 H-141 pads in red, 4 in blue, 7 blacks and 4 in lime green left. Everything else has shifted to gray now which I think is a killer color. First come, first serve on the custom colored pads. It's not something I've made available in my shop. Just offered to special requests and offered when buying a grip in a certain color etc. Plus I needed to see how the colors would come out in matching grip / pad combo. If you want pads in these colors just email me / comment and if I've got some left you can have them with your order. When gone, it'll be until next batch of pads are made. Which won't be that long, but custom colors in pads isn't something I'm gonna widely make available. ;-)
  11. Emma is the creative one so you may have to talk to her. We got quite a few pictures from the work in progress and I'll post them later on. Josh...Josh... not sure what to say... ;-)
  12. My brother's name is Roger Wallgren. We took a lot of pictures of him herding cows last week. We'll post them as soon as we can find them... ;-)
  13. Well I'm slightly retarded so I have a problem with math and still think I'm 5 playing in the sandbox. btw. with a lot of help from my girlfriend Emma and recent help from my brother we finished the guest bathroom. Just a few finishing touches left; glue in the mirror and installing custom shower rods to be made by my buddy Leo. Guess it's a birthday gift to all future guests, but also to ourselves since it's the only functional bathroom at the moment.. Bathroom stall with mossy rock from Emma's family ranch. I slaved her until 2am for a couple weeks until the tiling and other things were done. Apparently I didn't help at all... Sandstone backing for the mirror was glued and bolted into the wall. We broke the first mirror in prepping it for the rock, but we'll glue that sucker in soon. Cool touch I think, original idea by... my GF (of course). My brother and I cut some Aspen logs to trim the door. Another great idea by Emma. A lot of work by us... ha Installing the toilet was a trial, but mostly because we were a little clueless which resulted in 4-5 trips to Home Depot before we got the right parts. ;-)
  14. Tomorrow I'm turning the dreaded 40... suck. But it needs to be celebrated so I'm gonna offer 20% off on all Henning products; Contour Grips, Magazine Pads, Firing Pins, whatelse do I make...hmm... oh yeah... Prescription T-Shirts and complete Competition Magazines (40 S&W - 18/19/21 rounders, 38 Super short and big sticks). Place your order before midnight on August 15th and you'll get the deal. No need to write anything anywhere.. My brother's in town (lives in Sweden) so we're gonna celebrate a little bit tonight since he's heading home tomorrow. I'll be available on my cell (720) 352 1080 if you have any questions or just want to offer your condolences.
  15. Call EAA and see if they know how they sold them to lately. Sharon, extension 10. Just know all the warnings posted here about the large frame 9mm mags. Together with a customer we've done some testing on using small frame mags in the large frame gun with great results. The small frame mags work great and I've got winter-plans for making a grip/frame-conversion kit that'll allow small frame mags. Then you have a great caliber in a great gun that works. Until then know that 10-12 rounds in the mags may be all you can reliable use.
  16. I emailed you last nite, but I'll put this in here as well. There really isn't much of a trick to it. Sometimes those pins can be a pain to get out and I have trashed it when I haven't done it carefully. At that point you have to cut it / break it somehow. When they're tight I use a really sharp bladed knife and sneak it underneath. It always works if I'm careful enough. Get it to move up just enough and then use a small-small flat screwdriver (computer type) to move it up. If you push the pin inward in any way you'll bend it and it might have to get cracked to get out. It may sound stupid, but always make sure you've removed the sear assy as this is what holds it in place.
  17. Supposedly the long awaited TiteFit slidepins are on their way to me. Talked to the shop today about it. The same shop who makes my 2 firing pins also makes my new Titefit slidepin. And they have the drawings to make the FOP sight. I told them I want it for the US limited nationals. They said sure... and of course things always take longer than we want... but I'll use the whip to get them as soon as possible.
  18. I just received 'generation III' of the hammer. The sides have been reduced (EDM'd) and the half-cock is smaller. Nicer for sure. To make a truly great trigger there's gunsmithing involved, but a great starting point. Have both hammers and sears in stock.
  19. The magwell will be designed to fit both large and small frame. What I'm doing is making an enclosure that fits both and have two different delrin inserts to fill into either small or large frame.
  20. This year has been pretty active for me in coming out with new products and more are coming. We just finished up both the smooth and checkered grips that fit the [sMALL FRAME] Stock II pistols. These grips will also fit the 9x19 Eric Open guns sold everywhere except the US. They can also be fitted to older Springfield P9's which were all small frame guns. The TiteFit Slidepin has been stalled serveral times. It was done in May, but the heat treater messed it up and they have been redone and will be available shortly. These pins will be in S7 tool steel, hardened to Rockwell 45 and a tighter fit barrel/slide/frame than factory or EGW pins. Drawings for a new 0.090" wide / 0.175" tall Fiber Optic front sight is over at one of my machine shops and I'm just waiting for them to manufacture them. The word is one month, but just know they're in the works. I want mine before the US Limited Nationals. The new big-ass magwell is on the drawing table. I'm working on it with a guy who is very good with SolidWorks. We're designing a magwell together that will match the Contour Grips, be as big as possible and still legal for IPSC Standard Division. The plan is to make a magwell for the GoldTeam/Limited and one for the Match/Stock models. It will have a replacable delrin (plastic) insert so you won't scratch your mags. My guess is that it'll be 2-3 months before they're available. Lot of this depends on my drawing guy and the machine shop. Personally, I'd want it yesterday. I've got custom springs for the guns in the works. This includes recoil springs, firing pin springs, trigger return spring, sear spring, mag release spring and trigger plunger spring. The idea is to include certain springs in a complete trigger kit that'll lighten your trigger without having to modify any factory parts. The recoil springs will also be designed for major/minor, etc. Flat Trigger is something a lot of people have asked for and it's something that I have thought about a lot and been given inputs on. My abstract goal is to make the adjustments easier and better and tighten up the trigger tolerances at the same time as designing a flat trigger. I want to get all the other stuff on my list above done first so it'll probably be a winter project. I'm gonna try to do a little shooting in the next months as well. Not sure if I'll get to practice, but I've signed up for Texas State Limited, Colorado State, US Open/Limited Nationals, New Zealand Nationals and Area 2. Oh and as long as I can get my plane ticket figured out next couple of days, I'm flying in to Area 3 this weekend. Oh and a short summary of the new products launched this year: - Long Firing Pin for Small Frame models - H-550 pad for IPSC big box allowing 19 reloadable rounds in 40 S&W IPSC - H-141 pad, improved allowing 21 reloadable rounds in 40 S&W USPSA - H-150 Contour Grip, both smooth and checkered for Large Frame models with magwells (gold team / limited) - H-152 Contour Grip, both smooth, checkered and with wood-inlay for Large Frame models with no magwell (match / stock) - H-161 Contour Grip, both smooth and checkered for Small Frame without magwell (Stock II, Springfield P9) - Wallgrens Prescription T-Shirt I also made a H-350 pad which is a very short pad that is nice for large frame carry type guns. It's not on the website.
  21. "Eric" has been the name for the latest Gold Team models for a couple of years. Last year Tanfoglio introduced the 2007 Gold Team / Custom "Eric" model which is a 0.400" shorter slide than the 2006 models. The difference is that the 2006 had a long slide, V8 porting and a 3 port comp while the 2007 had the short slide which is the same length as the Stock / Stock II pistols. The short slide is equipped with a V12 porting and a stubby 2 port comp. In 2007, the V12 as it's mostly referred to as, was available world wide, except the US. EAA only received the V12 this year and it is currently the only Gold Team / Open model they offer. For the rest of the world, Tanfoglio offers both the V8 and the V12. Eric, who shot the stubby V12 for a while switched back to the V8. Even though he designed the V12, he ended up shooting the V8 at the 2007 Europeans because it had a softer recoil. This year, as far as I know, he is back on the V12 and added a few side ports or something. The 'common' impression is that the V12 is a little more snappy than the V8. However, it is very cool to shoot and quick handled. These "felt impressions" are very individual as are most things. Powder type and charge affects the recoil hugely. For instance, my buddy Frank in Norway has a long slide 3 port comp setup that came without any slide/barrel porting. He did his own 4 port straight up more like the traditional hybrid barrels. (Remember.. Matt McLearn won the 1993 World Championships with a hybid barrel so these systems have been around for a while). So, in IPSC the MAJOR requirement is 160pf and most people load to 165pf. Well, Frank found that using Vit N-105 he had less muzzle flip loading to about 178pf. So his setup is a 3 port, 4 barrel ported longslide with a long dustcover. His 3 port comp has been opened up for more effect. I shot Frank's gun little over a month ago in Norway after a local match we shot together. No doubt, his setup was pretty cool. My open setup is a longslide V8 with a factory 3 port comp that I've opened up. I cut my long dustcover off. In 2003-2005 I experimented with everything from a long dustcover, to medium to short dustcover and found that the short dustcover had a less nervous muzzle flip which settled the gun better for me. I'm using IMR 7625 powder and load to 170pf. For me and I think for a lot of people, the open division is fun because of the technical aspect. We get to "believe" our shit is the best. Most importantly, keep an open mind, try other shooter's guns and don't just shoot 5 shots and say "wow that gun is f#$@king nice". To really tell I think you need to shoot two different guns back/forth in practice under different conditions. Then you need to verify in a competition that is important enough for you to get butterflies in your stomach. The gun will recoil differently when you're standing and when you're kneeling. What matters is the overall picture and it's hard to have a practice routine that is as diversified as our sport. That's why I ultimately like to try new things in a competition. Not the smartest maybe, because I've got my ass chewed up from dumb stuff. But if I'm willing to sacrifice some performance to figure things out then it's okay. For Europeans, World matches and National Championships that I actually try to do well in, I never experiment.
  22. Cliff Not sure what the problem is, I've never had that happen to me. Not that this relates to you in this case, but I've answered several emails on this topic lately, which relates to the use of 10mm mags in our 40 S&W and mags not dropping free. You and I've been through this earlier so your guns should be good, right? --------------- from email: Actually we use the 10mm magazines in our 40S&W's. All you have to do is modify the gun a little bit and you'll find that this magazine works great. The factory doesn't fit the magazine release properly. What you want to do is take the slide/barrel off the frame. Look inside from the magwell end and push the magrelease in all the way. You'll see there is a part of the magreleas sticking out. Well, take a file and get rid of that part until nothing sticks into the frame. This will ensure the magazines to drop free. Secondly, check out the magwell. There is one "tab" that sticks into the frame. You need to take the magwell off and file this part off. I do this to all my guns and you'll find that you won't have any problems with magazines any more. No sticky mags or problems inserting them. These are basically bad fittings from factory and modifying the gun will make it more reliable. Also note that you want to use NEW brass in major matches. When you reload, take the resizing die out so that you make sure the cases is factory straight. OAL = 30.00mm. This will make it the easiest to put 19 rounds in the mags. However... I only put 19 rounds in when I absolutely need to. Otherwise I use 18. This is to save the life of the magspring. When you are shooting used brass, then use the EGW undersized die to make them as well sized as possible. Some shooters use the CasePro to rollsize the cases which works great. ------------
  23. I knew it was you Leo who put Josh up to it... Well.. here's a reality check for ya... from now on you'll have to buy a metal file to make your own parts... You're both BLACKLISTED mofo's... ;-)
  24. Last Sunday I herded cows off the mountain outside Lyons, Colorado with my girlfriend Emma and her sister Ida. Here are some pics:
