  1. Match is over and we're checking out of our hotel this morning. Heading up to the northern coast to spend some time on the water. Match was really good, excellent 18 stages and great company on our squad. We shot with Steve and Matt who organized the match. They are good shooters and awesome people. Anyone who want to go to New Zealand on vacation and shoot a match should contact them and do the same thing. Their website is www.pistolnz.org. Look under practical/ipsc/action stuff. Shot a great first day where I took a big lead, followed by an all-out speed fest on the second day with bunch of misses. Shot way too fast so could afford missing here and there. Third day, had a few good moments and mediocre shooting. Ended up winning by about 5%. My buddy Eddie took top international in Open. He shot some great stages for the amount of shooting he's done. Off to the beach.. We're shipping out products once or twice a week so you can get what you need. Email or place your order online and Emma's sister Dora will ship. Will be available on the NZ cell number: + 64 21 2597985 if you want to chat with me. Waiting on our rental car to show up, then we're driving over to a place where you can roll down the hill inside a big ball. Check this out: http://www.zorb.com/ ;-)
  2. Hey I switched my sights out and shot it as is, worked well in Area 2 and I can hit a 6" plate at 20yds. For fine tuning it would make sense that it needs a few clicks. It's 0.015" taller than the old sight, but now you have a fiber dot that you'll use more than the top of the sight. And the top of the fiber will be pretty close where the old flat iron sights were. So besides sighting in using the top of the black sight, I would shoot it as you would in a stage quite a bit. Shoot some head shots etc at 15 - 20 yds and shoot quickly. Make some 2" black circles on a full target at 15 yds, 20 yds etc and shoot fast and see how you're actually using the sight. This is what you'll be doing in an actual match so know how you're using the sight when you're shooting at ipsc speed. I know it's been helping me tremendously so far. I can pick up the sights quicker, but it's also of course easy to shoot too fast and forget about seeing the finer sight picture on plates etc. It's very dependent on how focused I am. If I'm mentally sloppy it's easy to think the gun/sights will shoot the stage for me. Not so.. and the scores will suffer. When you start using the fiber sight, play with it. Like I mentioned, make 2" circle marks in the center of a full ipsc target and shoot quickly to see where you're at. 15 yds is a good distance and far enough to where it's necessary to be somewhat cognizant of the sights if you're going to hit something. Notice if you're consistently high, low, left or right. Don't be too picky, but try to look for patterns. We don't use the sights as well as we probably should in a stressful situation so you want to try to figure out how you'll most-likely be using them. Not how we theoretically will be using them. Concur, doctor ?
  3. Hey Dave I'm almost out of grips and we are going to make more end of the month or right around the time I'll be back. I do have a few grip colors in stock. If I remember right I think it's lime green, red and black. Everything else you'll have to wait for us to make more grips and have them done. I may also be able to offer more or other colors soon. Instead of anodizing I can get them bear coated and that opens up for more color choices, including camo. Let me know what you'd be mostly interested in or what your favorite colors are. I like the pepsi blue (a normal, strong blue color) over the navy. The navy is really pretty, but is pretty dark. The lime green is very, very pretty in my opinion. Red is always a good color. We did a light red which looks almost pink. I'm shooting this here in New Zealand and getting lots of comments on it... you can imagine what kind ;-)
  4. btw. if you have a chance, post a picture of your gun from the side with the Millett mounted.
  5. Dave Measure the sight from the flat top to the very top (only the visible post, no the part that sits into the slide). Tanfoglio over the years have made several heights (0.125, 0.150 and 0.200), but 0.150 are available as factory sights to buy at the moment. The Match 'typically' come with a 0.125" tall sight whereas the Limited comes with a 0.150". My sight 0.165" is measured as the post only, not including the dovetail attachment part. I'm using the fiber 90 sight right now and I'm not experiencing any glare, but in the next batch of sights we will incorporate 40lpi serrated lines. Eventually a 0.095" and 0.105" wide post will be available. I have the 90 x 165 fiber available in my store right now (just got resupplied). I may have a 125 x 200 flat black (maybe with serrations) somewhere, but I will have to look when I'm back. Drop me an email to me at henningshootsguns dot com if you'd like. I'm out of the country till the 28th so my cell is no good here in New Zealand. I do have a NZ cell: 011 64 21 2597985 if you want to try it. I will be shooting the third and last day of the NZ nationals today so if you don't get an answer just keep trying. I may be running around in a jungle run spraying bullets...
  6. Sounds good. I'll be available for longer chats again around Nov 28th when I'm back in the country. You're welcome to call me after 12pm Pacific time. We can go through everything if you want. ;-)
  7. The new iFiber 0.090 I'm making is 0.165 tall which I think is plenty tall. I agree, the factory 0.150 is not tall enough. On the match it's only 0.125 that comes with the gun I believe. Check out the article: http://www.henningshootsguns.com/pages/2008_fiberfront.html
  8. Hey Jim You can shoot the factory ammo if you'd like, but I recommend using the mags with the spacers in the front. Otherwise you will have issues. The 'competition' mags are too long for factory length. The spacered mags work 'okay' and is the best alternative. You will have to use the factory follower/spring in those mags which will give you 15 round capacity. For better feel etc you can put my H-400 pad on it which is a solid aluminum pad instead of the cheesy plastic pad it comes with. Several shooters do this when they want to shoot their guns with factory ammo. The whole thing about loading to 1.175" is that it fills out the magazine so that feeding is working properly. And all the work I've done with Grams followers, springs and my H-141, H-520 and H-550 pads is that it increases magazine capacity to it's max potential. Here in New Zealand where we are shooting right now, I can fit my Limited 40 gun in the box with H-550 pads and get 19 + 1. For USPSA I can reload to 21 rounds easy.
  9. So, I'm not a big fan of the IPSC world matches and skipped Bali. Instead I went to New Zealand right after Area 2 with my girlfriend Emma and buddy Eddie (visiting from Norway and also shot Area 2). We're in Rotorua which is in the center of the North Island. If you could ever pick a beautiful place to hold a match, this is it. Lots of lush vegetation, nice spring temperatures and not too hot. It's a small turn out by US standards, about 115 shooters total with a few from Australia and Asia plus me and Eddie. It's super laid back down here, everybody is nice and we're having a blast. The quality of the stages are outstanding. They've put up 18 stages and about 350 rounds. It's a three day match, with 6 stages per day. A couple of quickie stages today followed by 32 round house clearings and a massive jungle run. All very high quality and a blast to shoot. Been shooting pretty good. The funniest thing was on the jungle run where I lost my footing on a 180 turn and was super close to falling on my face (shoes gave in to the loose gravel). Blasted 4 shots at the 2 close targets while trying to regain my balance. Shot the targets while holding the gun nowhere near my line of sight. Got the shots off in general direction which resulted in 3 D's and a Mike, ha ha. Just glad I didn't end on my face. Tomorrow we're shooting several speed shoots and when the day is over we'll have a BBQ and do a paintball battle. When we're done Sunday we'll start a week n half sightseeing. Lots to see and do in New Zealand. We want to go swim with the dolphins, scuba diving, kayaking and drink lots and lots of margaritas on the beach. If there's any place they SHOULD have the world shoot, this would be it !
  10. Hey Jim If you want to re-do them you can ship them to me and we can get them re-done in black on the next go around. Black does look real sharp on chrome frames.
  11. We arrived in Auckland, New Zealand yesterday morning. My friend, Peter Vujcich, a Tanfoglio shooter here in Auckland picked us up and showed us around town. We jumped on a boat cruise outside the city and later drove up to one of the inactive volcanos. Had a great dinner with his family and this morning we drove up to Rotorua where we met with lots of other shooters, registered for the match and now getting ready for bed. Tomorrow the NZ National Pistol match starts. They put up 18 stages, about 350 rounds. 9 stages are speed shoots; 9 or 10 rounds. 8 are 22 - 32 round stages and one 12 round stages. From the brief look of everything today it looks like we're going to have a good time. The H-550 pads fit right in the box, which means I can use my 19 reloadable mags here. This was with the new H-FOP sight. Their box measured 150.9mm in one end and 150.1mm in the other. Tight, but gun and mag fit so good to go. This means that by now I've been able to shoot the H-550 pads legally in three major IPSC matches over the last year and a half. 2007 Europeans, 2008 Czech Extreme Euro Open and the 2008 NZ Pistol Nationals. The rule box says 150mm -0mm / +1mm. So good to go. Will report pictures from the shoot next couple of days.
  12. Nemo When did you get those springs & followers? They are probably the first ones we used in 2007 which was STI/SVi followers that we bent the springs to the right side. Since then Beven has made the special follower for the Tanfoglio mags which are wider. They don't pop through. I can put brand new springs/follower in my mag bodies and go shoot. Grams doesn't sell the follower by itself. If you buy the latest spring/follower 11-coil kits you'll get a follower MADE FOR Tanfoglio mags. Everybody uses them and I haven't gotten any feedback of problems. I never have problems with them. I'm in New Zealand right now and I just put together my mags for tomorrow. I converted my 21 round mags into 18 and 19 rounds to comply with IPSC box rules. The New Zealand box measured 150.9mm on one end and 150.1mm on the other measured with my caliper that I brought. I could fit the H-550 pad with the new iFiber sight into the box. This means I can start with 19 + 1 and also reload to 19 rounds in the match this weekend. 18 stages and about 350 rounds of fun waiting..
  13. Just checked in to the hotel in Rotorua, New Zealand. All set up with internet connection so life's grand. I've got my NZ cell phone working so call me on this number instead of my regular cell up until Nov 28th ! From US: 011 64 21 2597985 From Europe: +64 21 2597985 We start shooting tomorrow (Friday NZ). 18 - 20 stages, about 350 rounds. Should be lots of fun. Will take pictures and videos.
  14. I'm at Los Angeles airport checking my emails for the last time before we board the plane. I'll be online again as soon as we're landing in Auckland. We're being picked up by a friend at the airport when we land and checking in to a hotel close to downtown Auckland. When I get online I'll let you guys know. Can't wait to get there, but first we got a 13 hour flight.. Everything so far's gone smooth, everything's checked in and it's time to relax.. Our helper is shipping orders out on Wednesday/Thursday so everything ordered and not shipped since we left for Area 2 will go out in the next couple of days. ;-) Henning
  15. Hey Jim Things got pretty crazy here before we left. I had a post-it note that you wanted a sight, but sorry got forgotten. And we sold out in three days. Because we're out of town, our helper will pick up the second batch from the coater on Wednesday and ship out right away. You will get some from this batch. Think I sent you an email while I was in Arizona at Area 2?
  16. Ole Petter Email me where you're finding these mags and I'll take a look. In the US, only blued mags are available. I sell the small frame mags w/o the basepads which will work for Stock II (europe small frame versions) for $40 a piece. This is a very small part of my magazine sales since only gun sold before mid 90's in the US uses small frame mags. But I do ship overseas. Chrome small frame mags I get hold of from time to time, but not available from me at the moment.
  17. Hey Mo Sure took it's time this time. We've been using Priority Mail to shorten the delivery time. Guess we never can estimate Canadian customs though. But still first class mail to Canada is always slow so not much of an alternative. I loved using the sight at Area 2. I shot a lot faster. Was looking good for winning the match. Was leading after the first 6 stages until I totally didn't see a target in the walk through of stage 7. Got an FTE and 2 miss for not shooting it. My time was good, but it put me over 30 points behind Taran after that fatal mistake. I tried pushing to pick up which caused two more misses on hard targets. Mistakes I wouldn't have made if I hadn't had to push. Ended up 45 points behind Taran in the end. No doubt, fiber helped.
  18. Also for dress-up, the checkered black aluminum grips look really good on the Match / Stock. They're full length compared to the grips for the Limited/Gold Teams and I think it makes the gun stand out with the sharp looking black checkering. And lots thinner than the rubber grips. Just slightly thinner than the wood grips, but fits tight on the gun. Use blue loctite when you put the grip screws in. Currently only available is the same factory screws which you already have. Working on getting some hex head smaller head screws, but might take a little time.
  19. Hey Jim The first batch of Fiber sights was out of stock in three days. Second batch will be coated on Monday next week, our helper will pick them up on Wednesday and ship everything out.
  20. We're leaving for New Zealand on Monday 10th at 8pm from Los Angeles for the 2008 New Zealand IPSC Pistol Nationals. We'll be back on the morning of the 28th. While we're gone we're having a family member package and ship for us so you can place your orders and email your questions, special requests etc. Since US phone in NZ will be retardedly expensive I'll be available on a New Zealand cell phone. From US: 011 64 21 2597985 From Europe: +64 21 2597985 We leave 8pm on Monday from LAX and it's a 13 hour flight. The phone will be operational Wednesday 12th at 10am New Zealand time. Here's how you figure when to call us: US Pacific Time is 3 hours later than NZ (California 3pm = New Zealand 12pm) US Mountain Time is 4 hours later than NZ (Colorado 3pm = New Zealand 11am) US Central Time is 5 hours later than NZ (Texas 3pm = New Zealand 10am) US Eastern Time is 6 hours later than NZ (Florida 3pm = New Zealand 9am) Okay, so for those of you who know, New Zealand is actually 'ahead' of US and in fact a day, but I think it's easier to deduct 4 hours instead of adding 20. Agree? What day it is doesn't really matter anyway... Just realize that if you're calling me on Tuesday, it's actually Wednesday in New Zealand. If you're in Europe you're smart enough to figure this shit out yourself... I hope, I'm not ;-) Here's our schedule so you've got an idea: 10th: Departing LAX at 8:30pm US Pacific Time 12th: Arrive in Auckland and spending the day in Auckland 13th: Getting picked up by NZ shooters and driving to Rotorua 14th: Shooting the match (Friday) 15th: Shooting the match (Saturday) 16th: Shooting the match (Sunday) and driving back to Auckland 17th: We're renting a car and starting our 12 day trip. (Monday) ...... 28th: Leaving Auckland at 7:40pm for LAX. 28th: Arriving in LAX at 10:30am. Picking up our car and starting our drive back to Colorado. Note that we're planning to drive through San Francisco and probably stopping by the Redwoods again. I've done this trip many times, but Eddie and Emma have never seen it and I think it's something everyone should see if they're in the area. Here's an article from my trip there in 2006: http://www.henningshootsguns.com/pages/200...i_redwoods.html
  21. Give Brian a call on Monday; www.brianenos.com... ehem. The Dillon 550 is the typical first choice. Brian will set you up and only sell you what you really need.
  22. On "supersight" elevation screw questions; I have them in stock. Not sure that you could say it's a warranty thing. The sight is not designed like a bomar that screws into the slide. And there's no set screw. So, given the design of the sight it is what it is. The best sight, definitely not. This winter I'll see if we can come up with something better. Monday I'm on the plane to New Zealand for their Nationals next weekend. My girlfriend Emma, my buddy Eddie and I are going and can't wait. While we're gone we've got a family member packing orders and I'll be available per email. We'll try to get online at least every other day. ;-) Henning
  23. Been shooting my Fiber sight at the first day at the Desert Classic today. Very happy with it. As the sun came out it was easy to shoot fast. Put in some times on Stage 2 and 3 that I was very happy with. I'm using the yellow fiber which is great during the day. In the dusk at 6:50am on the first stage with the sun coming through on part of the stage it was too much. I had a hard time with side-light and a bright dot. Probably red fiber would have been better since the dot was so bright I couldn't get a clear definition of the front and rear. Those were hard light conditions and very temporary. Stage 2, 3 and 4 the yellow proved to be very quick and easy to hit everything.
  24. The difference between 'long' 40 S&W mags and 10mm mags are practically nothing. We've been using the 10mm mags in our 40's because EAA doesn't import the 40 mags without spacers anymore. So the chrome 40 mags will work for 10mm. Note that even the 10mm mags are slightly 'short' for factory loads. I load my 40 S&W loads to 1.175" since this is a very safe length that doesn't bind in the mags. However, you can load out to 1.200' physically. So, in answering the question, yes they'll work for 10mm given the OAL length requirements that is always the case for 10mm in any EAA / Tanfoglio pistols.
  25. I can bring some if you want, but email me what you want/colors etc so I know what to bring. I'm heading straight to New Zealand after Area 2 and I'm trying to keep as many mags available in the online shop as possible. Emma and I are going to New Zealand with my buddy Eddie. We have a person shipping while we're gone so I'm going to let most things get handled through the shop/shipping from Colorado.
