  1. Sorry.. forgot to add to previous post: Using PowerBond Plated 180 gn bullets.. Bob Flumere
  2. Hi there! While not loading for major, I'll share some of my data: Sig P226 1.125" Nominal length Bullseye Powder 3.5 gn = 720 fps (Does't cycle the gun to slide lock with the stock recoil spring) 3.75gn = 760 fps (Cycles the gun fine.) 4.0 gn = 830 fps (This is my regular IDPA load) 4.25 gn = 860 fps 4.5 gn = 930 fps Seems pretty linear up to this point. I have not gone any higher because the 4.0 gn, 830 fps is well over minimum power factor. I have had zero problems with well used brass and no flattened primers ever. Good luck Bob Flumere rflumere@comcast.net
  3. I am loading a 180 plated FP bullet (Powerbond) with 4.0gn of Bullseye to 1.125 for a Sig P226 It chronos at about 810 fps. or PF of 145. Bob Flumere rflumere@comcast.net
  4. Hi all! I am 69 years old and I've been shooting IDPA for two seasons now and am classified a MM but.... I can't seem to advance even with a practice session every week with other (better/helpful?) shooters. I am also doing lots of dry fire with timer and targets at home. I'm shooting a 40cal P226 that has had the action cleaned up and has the "short reset" trigger. The ammo is my own reloads that seem be a good compromise on recoil and power factor. This rig shoots well at all distances, if and only if I take my time with sight picture and follow through. My accuracy is not terrible, averaging about 30 to 40 points down per match but speed is horrible. (Bottom of the group) My best draw to first shot (down zero) (with concealment) is right around 2 seconds. I hesitate to shoot until I can clearly see (and call) each shot. If I try to crank up the speed I just go all to hell with down 5's and FTN's etc. etc. etc. I can shoot groups fairly well, but not in a hurry. I have shooting glasses that have a good front sight prescription on my dominant eye and I see fairly well at distance with the non-dominant. How about some tips for speeding up the show from the group? I seem unable to find that magic speed vs accuracy place. In some instances I shoot brilliantly and others as though I am locked in slow motion. Trying harder/faster generally causes me to blow up completely. I have actually bailed out of a couple of matches after screwing the first stages. I love the hobby, and I'm hoping that I this isn't the best I can do. Thanks for any and all encouragement. Some practice tips from the gurus here??? Bob F.
  5. That makes three of us in the past week.. (Same broken spring) 650 with 12-15k rounds. I had one of them in the parts kit and found it simpler to hook it on to the the peg on the turret advance cam first and then pulled it around to the rear from the left side of the press and popped it on the peg on the bottom of the platform with a hooked paper clip. A bit of a mystery at first, but really not very difficult. If this is the only thing that breaks in 12-15K rounds, how can you be unhappy! A call to Dillon got me a couple of new springs in three days!! As usual, great service. Bob F.
  6. Hey there: Your experience is pretty much the same as mine.. 40 cal P226 IDPA 3.5gn of Bullseye behind a 180gn PowerBond Plated bullet gave me 710fps. Very soft shooting, but required an 18lb Wolfe recoil spring to reach slide-lock reliably. I am now shooting 4.0gn @ 830fps and using a slightly "tired" stock recoil spring. I personally like the feel of the gun better @ 4.0gn. Power factor closer to 150,000. Absolutely reliable. YMMV. It's nice to see someone else using Bullseye and getting almost identical results! 7. There are always a few grains of Bullseye sitting on top of the powder bar. I have cleaned and polished the bar and the slide (it was jamming on return). It runs much more smoothly, but still I am finding a few grains of powder on top of the bar and some falls into the failsafe return arm. Is this typical with Bullseye? Am I concerned about nothing? Thanks, Bob F. rflumere@comcast.net
