  1. What are the rules??? All of them are different. If you have more than intented, mostly its OK, except to the people you beat. I follow the rules, esp if I know them, in this case, I don't, most do follow the rules, some don't. The Ro's are real busy as it is, they trust but verify, if they can, after 100 or so shooters they are happy if nothing happened they did not expect. Seen too many, have a huge capacity, and get away with it. Limited in your dreams.
  2. Was not meant to be helpful, there has to be some deterrent to not following the rules, there also has to be some answer to the "If you aren't cheating, you ain't trying crowd".
  3. If the the fall election goes terribly wrong we could face the same problem , how can we help??
  4. I for one like the random draw prizes. FTDR sucks but its not my match, their match , their rules. Are these the same avid 3 gun shooters, who shoot for the fun of it?? But if they don't have a payday, in the form of an suitable prize, will not attend. Good. I'll probably go to both, but have other things to resolve before I can plan that.
  5. I've done it with, seated in chair, ( Buttocks on plastic), explained enough, Knees under table ( the part of the leg that bends between the ankle and the crotch) hands on knee ( already defined )any part of hand / any part of Knee, it really does not give you an advantage, Table ( flat Surface in front of shooter that would hold a Beer.)Table legs and chair legs , Fixed position , THE SAME for Everybody. Go for it. Twist , do whatever you want, = Start position.
  6. My 3 gun Heroes are the backbone of the sport' The Person who finishes 100th The Person who finishes 200th And the person who finishes 300th at any match big enough to have that many shooters, Because they are the shooters that keep the sport alive, by showing up doing their best, having fun and allowing the other shooters to get the prizes they think they deserve. The top 100 at any match are the same people, that go from match to match to match competing against each other . The others are irregulars who attend only 1 or 2 or at the most 3 Big matches a year and are limited by funds, time or other obligations from attending more matches. They don't pick clases or divisions, bassed on the prize table, but on what equipment they have to shoot A match, maybe the chance comes by, only once A year. These are the people who are my heroes, because they represent me, have the same goals as Me and sorry to say , the same ability as me. We will never win a match but without us you cannnot have a big match.
  7. I'm 60 now, practise might help , but the drugs for me to take to beat Horner have not been perfectd yet , Practise alone will not do it. Setting up the scoring program with everyone in open as has been done before, would be a representation of how you finished against the Number 1 shooter for the match. That would be a fair way IMO to do the prize table.
  8. I want to stress "It was a really good match." But , JJ , sorry, I was not aware of the May post, as to how the prize table would be run. And to Denise, if I was scored in open I would have only been scored against Jerry, not Horner. We had open shooters on our squad, and our times were not that much different, but our % was, 10 to 15 % different, with the open shoters being higher.
  9. Great match, Lots of shooting. Love the Natural Stages , even if they are all UPHILL. And here it comes , If I was shooting for the prize table I would have changed classes at some point during the match. not changed guns , just classes. With second place in Tac optics at 85 % , moving to open would have moved you up as to when you go to the prize table?? Its their match , their rules , just wish I would have known , that this was the way it would work before Sat afternoon.
  10. I am using a 55 grain Montana Gold at 3060 out of an 18 inch barrel. Using the reticle in my 1.5 X 8 IOR. If I zero at 200 yards, I am 2", high at 300, 1.3 inch high at 400, 1.2 low at 500, and 6.7 low at 600. I have verified out to 500. The best I can do, even from a good rest is + or -, but a 5 " group at 500 yards was my best. The illumination is only good for indoors, twilight or dark . I have only used it once at a match , It was a dark and stormy day.
  11. Best aveaage has been 0.1806 . but the most ammusing was 5, 0.219 times all the sheep piled on top of each other.
  12. There is hope yet, for USPSA shooting, glad to see it. And the reason for the reshoot ??? For future reference . Not that it really matters , it seems it was the right thing to do. May the reshoot gods be good to everyone involved.
  13. I agree with Fullauto , I'm also am not there because of Poor administration at last years match ., and I told the MD and the RM, then. I would not shoot another USPSA Nat match because of it . It would seem from a quick review of the rules, that 4.3.1.6 , says that the shooters that have already shot are screwed , RO decision . If you can somehow make a case thats its not the same course of fire because of the allterations made during the NON calibration event , that the tragets are moved ??? even a little ??? you are not presented with the same challenge , therefore Reshoot.
  14. If its in Orange, I'll bring Linda a Braun Coffee maker, and fresh grind Freach Roast on demand . I expect to share the coffee . Its a good range, and close to the house . I love shooting 3 Gun. Some day I may be good at it. LaRue was a fun match last year, less wind and warmer would be nice.
  15. I believe "The Girl" had it right, sometime last year , its officially " Texas Schizophrenic" be prepared for anything.
  16. Eddie J, Briley, and Ed Vandenberg, all do good work in the Houston area. Eddie and Briley are on the west side , Ed is by Ellington airport .
  17. A CO2 fire extiguisher will cool it down quick . Works on beer.
  18. I have 3 Briley barreled guns , all are more accurate than I am. With any of them I can hit the top half of the "A" zone at 50 yards A 9 and 38S are cone comps and the 3rd is a bull barrel 38S with a TI comp. They all run at any power factor, just the distance brass hits the ground is different. I have never heard of the above problem and have always found Briley to be very responsive to any problems. I really like the 5"Bull barrel with the TI comp. Handles like a limited gun with no recoil .
  19. I think Scorch has it right. The way I looked at it was like running by a target, your choice. Shoot the steel when and were you want, and as far as the shoot targets, they are not going anywhere, shoot them as you see fit . If they the shoot targets, (wide open targets) are not available to shoot, you The SHOOTER determined when you shot them and when you shot the poppers. The same effect is had by saying that you can not retreat uprange to shoot a target you have run by . and suddenly remembered. OOPS you are screwed. You missed them and you can not go back. It was a fun stage, I LIKED IT AND HOPE TO SEE MORE LIKE IT . Good Job by Scorch and the match crew. Many ways to shoot it , Risk and reward , Figure it out.
  20. If the Clays were fire bombs that would explain the 20 sec penalty, especially when they were actually coming at you and landing behind you, when we shot. But having just reread the scoring it seems, neither I nor the RO knew the correct penalty, clays were supposed to be 10 sec for a miss (frangible target) . Next time I'll have a copy of the latest rules with me .
  21. I understand that this is a new scoring sysstem, but can anyone explain why that running by a pisol target and not fiting a shot , no hits, target not engaged is a 15 sec. penalty but missing a flying clay is a 20 sec, penalty???
  22. The surface of the bays , roads , hills, ---hell everything is is dust, it blows up really easy, and gets into everything. gritty when dry and slippery when wet. I've cleaned mags every stage and guns at least at lunch every day. But it still is a great match, just make sure your equipment stays clean , cover, guns mags , and ammo, some people, cover their guns except when shooting, keep the mags in the gun bag until the last minute and ammo in closed bags until needed, esp if the wind is blowing. Shoot fast, and look good.
  23. Bring Hand warmers. I've needed them every Year. And something to get that Red Crap out of your guns and gear.
