  1. He's not "the Jet", but his speed is also incredible.
  2. I fired 50 rounds of hotloads, cleaned the gun, OILed it, then fire again 50 rds, oil it again fired 50 clean, oil fire 50. cleaned and fired 100, C/O fired 100 C/O and fire until it become flawless. No running just shooting one at a time. Sounds boring. This is my own preference. I sighted it in during the break-in period. The oil I used (and still) was Mobil 1. Its now hard chromed and still tight after thousands of rounds. One problem of STI rear sight is the 2 piece pin that holds the base from the upper part (its located on the front area of the rear sight - a little bit confusing) Dont wait till it flies away. I finished one stage (local match) using only the front sight. I changed mine using a small diameter stainless rod and peened the ends.
  3. I started like you. I bought a STI backup gun (inc 3 basketweave mag pouch and bianchi hemisphere holster) from a guy who was building an open gun. Right price for me and I know the price is way low, but he needs the money on that day. I was able to loan from our savings and bought it. For more than a year, i borrow one mag from a friend, another mag from another friend and so on. My friends also call me diesel because I am using lead at that time, until i saved money and buy 4 used but complete magazines with grams basepads from shooters who changed from sti mags to svi mags. So far my sti mags are working perfect. USPSA classified ads is a good place to find used and sometimes brand new mags but i think the better idea is to look for members of your area club selling their extra mags. Youll save on shipping too. I know of somebody who placed a wanted ad on their club memo bulletin board and got more responses than he need. good luck
  4. Congratulations on your new toy. I am also a trojan 40 owner and its my SS match gun. s&a magwell or wilson or brown. they all look nice on SS. I blended the well to the frame and open it some more. cmc mags are good. I have 10 and they are all flawless. i changed the follower on mine to hold only 8 rounds for SS matches my trojan barrel accept up to 1.235 OAL (210 gr LRN) without hiccup and its accurate I use blade-tech for holster and mag pouches. When you received it , disassemble and clean the whole gun including the firing pin channel and extractor channel. Oil it and start the break in period. I had problems during the first 200 rounds mostly chambering/jamming. Have patience breaking in the gun. Mine started to work smoothly after 1000 rounds. For SS nationals here in the states I use Hornady 180 hap's and vvn320, federal SRP or Win SMP's and assorted brass. 1.200 Enjoy and good luck!!
  5. XL 650 been using 650 the past 51/2 years without problem until now. Handle is pulled. Primer plate is pushed by the lever and a primer moves forward. The handle is pushed up. NOW THE PROBLEM STARTS THE LEVER STAYS FORWARD ON THE PRIMER PLATE SLOT FOR A WHILE AND SUDDENLY SNAPS BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION BUT A LITTLE OFFSET AND PRIMER IS NOT ALIGNED TO THE BRASS. IF I CONTINUE THE PROCESS, I CRUSH THE PRIMER. Most of the time when that happens, I push the lever forward a little bit until the primer is aligned with the brass. This doesnt happen to me before. What could be the cause. I cleaned the primer plate and the assembly but its the same.
  6. Mine was cured with throating. Using 185 and 200 LSWC whichever is available.
  7. My PERSONAL conclusion is CORRECT GUN SET UP AND THE SHOOTER AND NOT THE CALIBER.
  8. Car wax diluted with water makes my tumbled brass shiny and clean.
  9. Yes its worth the money I spent here in US. Over $100 there in Europe? Wow Ill just be satisfied for a regular seating die (ANYWAYS ITS FOR 38 SUPER - MOST OF THE TIME ITS FOR FIXED OAL UNLESS YOU SWITCH TO FN/RN EVERY 100 RDS). Ill spend the money to buy bullets/powder/primer. If you really want (I didnt say need) it, dont you have friend here in US who can buy it for you?
  10. I wish TGO can answer this 40/45 accuracy question. He used a 40 this year at Single Stack Natl at Barry and he won. All other years he used a 45 and he won all those years too.
  11. Help. First time flying to another state for a match. Whats the best way to pack guns on luggage. Any paper/form to bring or fill-up at the airport? Thanks
  12. I use 7625/125 hap/srp/ mixed brass
  13. I have the same observation as Chris I am very happy with my Sight Tracker.
  14. Mine was 4# when i bought it. After break in, it measured 3.5# on the trigger pull electronic scale. The adjustable sight is called Novak style tactical sight. I just bought one from Caspian Arms. I saw it too on the latest Dillon catalog.
  15. My first SS is a Trojan .40. Modifications done are - replaced the single safety to ambidextrous, added a mag well and hard chroming. Its now 6 1/2 years old and still working perfectly. No mod done on the ramp and loads perfectly from factory loads (OAL) to 1.230 lead 210 grainers. I use Mc Cormick mags. Finished without a hiccup last SS nationals at Barry and the last 5 years were also the same. Its a good gun and with a good price considering the semi custom features. They say that Trojans has a lot of problems, but I didnt encounter any of it yet. Good Luck!
  16. I have a glock 35 One gun for: Limited L10 Production Steel challenge using J-point and comped barrel
  17. Trojan. Mine works perfect since i bought it 6 years ago.
  18. This is an SVI with Bar-sto barrel in 40S&W. The barrel likes to feed only 1.165 OAL max. Beyond that, jams occurs once in a while. My powder is N330 and using 200HAP's but I load long on my previous gun. I still have a lot of n330's/200's on my stock. Anybody who can share his load using 1.160-1.165 using n330. I already seached but cant find it. If you know the thread please lead me there. thanks
  19. The belt slot of kytac is very tight on my cr speed belt. I shaved a litle bit of plastic to make the cr belt pass the loop. Good quality and fast on draw. I didnt wait buying mine because I know he goes to SSC every year so i just waited and bought the holster and mag pouches. He always carry those things and sell it during the match. If you know of somebody going to SSC on the last weekend of April, then ask your friend to look for him and buy the H and MP for you.
  20. Hello there, I bought a discontinued project (my 2nd open). Discontinued bec the previous owner bought a ready to fire shorty instead STI short DC, with STI full lenght slide, already lightened and the only thing left are the small parts and barrel. small parts-are already taken cared of, including c-more (courtesy of prize table). my plan is to use this mainly for steel match bec i already have a 9SC for ipsc/uspsa match 9MM? which one or whose? thanks!
  21. svi piece is very nice. Its a 2 piece magwell, available in S/S and alum. No insert. Price is a little less than 2 S&A's.
  22. Spend a little more and purchase a semi custom or if you can afford get a full custom open gun. These gunsmiths already did the solving of the problem part of the guns they built so youll enjoy the gun on the day you receive and fire it. I have both - factory open gun and a full custom gun. Both are long slides .38SC My factory gun needs a little tweaking here and there inc springs until I become satisfied with it (back-up gun) My full custom is just perfect from the first firing to the present (primary compet. gun). Included is the right load recipe for that comp I heard Shooters connection has a short waiting period if they dont have one readily available for sale
