Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I guess that maybe I've just been lucky, I've loaded probably 100,000 rounds on my 650 and have never had a primer go bang. I did have my press set up at a buddy's house and was loading 9mm and a primer slid down the little unused primer chute and launched itself and it detonated when it hit the floor which was a little unnerving! But other than that never any problems, am I just lucky or is my time about up?
  2. I do the same thing and I usually don't have any trouble. Make sure that the bag is really clean where you make the seal, and I always double seal both ends. I've sealed up quite a bit of stuff with great results, try a poncho, it will almost fit in your back pocket!
  3. WOW! Thanks for all the good ideas guys, I had blinders on for a long time when it concerned a cleaning or polishing product for brass. I never really gave much thought to what else to use, I'm going to try out some of your suggestions and see how they work for me. In addition I've spoken with the "Blue Coral" people and as soon as I can find the product that they reccommended I'll pass all of the info on to everybody. Thanks! M
  4. Why not try this; 1. Tumble/clean 2. Size - deprime - trim 3. Swage Is there any reason that you can't size it and trim it in the same step? (I'm assuming that you're using a Dillon trimmer) Seems like that would save a step. Mouse
  5. I'm using the Dillon Rapid Polish and it really worls great but it's costing me an arm and a leg. At $1.00 an ounce before shipping it's getting to be more than I want to spend. I've got somewhere around 17k to 18k pieces of rifle brass that I need to start getting ready for some winter work so I'm going to need a pretty good supply of something. I've read elswhere on the web that Dillon Rapid Polish is really Blue Coral Car Polish, but after various net searches and trips to the local auto parts stores I can't locate the Blue Coral Polish product to compare. So what do you guys use? Anybody got any great tips or tricks for polishing up a ton of brass? Mouse
  6. Eric, Thanks for the info, I'm going to try and make whatever repairs to the tumbler that I can. I have a "spring kit" in route from Dillon, my hopes are that I can replace the springs and that will "Spring" new life into it. Sorry couldn't resist..... I'm giving some serious thought to actually building a large vibratory tumbler, I'm definately not afraid to start cutting and welding! M
  7. Have a look at THESE. I've been using the same UltraVibe 18 for about fifteen years now, and it's still going strong... They can also be had for less than the "name" brands... Hi guys, First post here, I've been reading your opinions on tumblers because I'm afraid that my Dillon FL series is about to take proverbial dump. I like the Dillon stuff alot and it serves me well but I'm really not in a position to fork out 175.00 for a new tumbler. I followed the link above and traded some e-mail with a sales rep and this is what I found out, The U-V45 #185 sells for $673.88. Hokey smokes! I may have to look into one of the small mortar mixers cause that's just crazy. I have in the neighborhood of 18k-20k pieces of rifle brass that needs cleaning and my Dillon ain't gonna live that long. If anybody has any real experiance with one of the mixers I'd love to hear about it, or if you know of a source for one of the thumblers tumblers at a reasonable price please pass it on! Mouse
