  1. Bruce, I started out wheelgunning with a GP100.....NICE GUNS! Went to a 4 inch 610 and ran it for 8 months, I'll venture to say.....I can shoot it as well as my 625s and 25s. The reason the .45 cal guns are so popular is they are the most forgiving as far as reloading for speed and consistancy is conscerened. I can do a 1.70 reload(not often) with BOTH and hit targets at 7 yds with all the shots....BUT the .45 will consistantly average faster over 10 reloads vs. the 610(.40 S&W) My call...... Just shoot and have fun, if you want to get competitive you will know when to get in the deep end of the pool....until then JUST HAVE FUN! Hopalong Just another dummy that shoots
  2. Jeff, Welcome to the competitive side of shooting. I will get jumped for this but I'll put it on the table. Since you already have it just shoot it.(the 7 shot) IF you REALLY want to improve and gain CONFIDENCE shoot a 6 gun!!! The other 2 shots are just CRUTCHES for those who have no or low confidence in their abilities.(That is just my Opinion) see my signature line about opinions Think about it, if it is a 6 round "neutral" stage why the HELL do you need extra?????? JUST take care of business the first time and be done with it. it WILL make you a better shooter(IF that is what you want) Now if you just want to go shoot with new friends by all means take what ever you can get your hands on that is safe, and is allowed and go play(FUN is MOST IMPORTANT) I myself took last years shooting WAY too seriously and by November was so burnt out and tired that I almost completely quit and sold out............REMEMBER TO MAKE IT FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now go out and have fun!!!!!!!!!!! HOPALONG Just another dummy that shoots
  3. Haras, Bwana, what you say we invite the Louisiana Revolver contengent to the Mississippi Classic and for them gracing the place with their presence we do the same to their match? Get 20 wheel gunners at each and there is the chance to win 6 slots to USPSA Nationals for 2007......Considering La Gator Classic is level III????? Hopalong PLUS
  4. I have not shot a IDPA match with a revolver since the change......... Seems like I have only shot 3 IDPA matches period since the change.....and not one with the same gun. (Not that my opinion means anything) HOP
  5. Yes, Lynn you are correct.............. but Your just Jealous of my Carefree, life style!!! Looks like you had a pretty good match Sunday. See you when I get back off the road HOP Oh yeah, I'm signed up for TN 3-gun(Iron sights), Space City(Limited), Area-6 (Limited-10) Mississippi Classic (Production or Open) and have my slot for Nationals sitting on the desk.......HOPE to be shooting a wheel gun by then, We'll see.

    Area 6

I shot 3 Area matches last year...... Area-4 was by far the HARDEST match I shot all year.....Nationals included (This match was designed by and for Open shooters IMHO. NOT bitchin but just stating what I think and quite a few others I know that were there) Area-5 was fun and the typical match now days......nothing extremely challenging and NO longer shots. Area-6 was fun and challenging.....had 2 MEMORY stages that I didn't particularly care for but that is a skill we all need challenged now and then....NOTHING like the memory stages at A-2 though You can expect 12 stages or so., Kind of like a Mini Nationals with some speed shoots, some good field courses and a few others mixed in just for kicks. I recomend it. I will be there but shooting the "Benny Blaster" unless things get better with the hand. Shooting Sat AM and Sun AM (Squad 10 I think) HOP
  7. Turned out it is NOT Tendonitis......... It's a Bruised Tendon with inflamation and swelling. It is getting better slowly. Was told not to punish it too much or it will get scar tissue around it and never be the same again. Just lucky the bottomfeeder "Benny Blaster" doesn't agrivate it and am able to get bullets down range and get my "Gunsmoke" fix. I'll pick it back up when I can.......NOT gone just sidelined. HOP
  8. If any of ya'll make it down to Thibidoux for the ICORE match, Challenge the Revo crowd down there to make the Mississippi match. Elliot Eysen is now a Master in Revolver, and I hear Annette is one tough cookie too! Bubber, Load Waltermitty, Firewalker, Mike, and Stephanie up for some good southern Hospitality and good times.......I'll even hold the timer on one stage for you. HOP
  9. Oh yeah, I forgot to warn you folks about Stephanie. I got to shoot the Memphis Indoor Championships (IDPA) against her(Mike shot a bottom feeder ). I managed to get by her by maybe 10 seconds out of a 8 stage match. She knows how to dish it out! Glad all had fun. HOP
  10. Ha Ha Ha!!!! Glad some one else is older than I am !!!! Hop
  11. Way top go Bubber!!!! Jay is a good shooter too, was surprised to see him shooting Open at the Missouri Fall classic last year though I had all the intentions of going myself, until I had to work all day Friday(I'm USUSALLY off on Fridays) then drive 5 hrs to TN and it is another 7 from the house to Left Arkansas. glad all had a good match, yes I agree....Mike and Stephanie are two of the nicest folks you can meet......around these parts we consider people like them "good folk". Maybe next year! Hopalong
  12. Still a few spots left!!!!! Contact Max or myself. HOPALONG
  13. SO...................... It is over with, how about some RESULTS!!!!!!!
  14. Let's see how many we can scratch up: 1 Bwana Six gun 2 Haras 3 Tim Lott......current Section Champ 4 encoreman 5 Hank Stern 6 The first 6 gun GM...... USPSA gave him GM for Single stack 7 Cliff Walsh 8 D. Carden 9 Some crippled dude from Hilljack country if needed but don't count on it 10 DaJerrell.....needs to come back from bypass sugery to the real challenge of action pistol shooting....and has friends that shoot the wheel gun See almost half way there and we have 3 months to go there are a few others I have yet to contact. and we can't forget Johns offer for free BEER! ALSO I noticed today on the USPSA website that the match is APPROVED as a level III match so when we get 20 in Revolver division there WILL be 3 slots awarded for the 2007 USPSA Nationals. SO............ When USPSA starts handing out earned slots next year I don't want to hear "I didn't get offered a slot because I couldn't find a level III match to shoot to win a slot" and all the other pissin and moanin HOPALONG You know the guy that has tried to get more interest in Revolver division for the last 2+ years and is about tired of it because it doesn't seem to matter
  15. Cliff, May I remind you that FLORIDA is in the SOUTH and that you need to support our sport in the SOUTH SO..........should you decide NOT to support the South and it's GREAT traditions you might as well just move on up to Bluebelly land...or even out to the left coast and keep D. Carden from getting too big a head as the left coast King of the Wheel. HOPALONG American by Birth.......SOUTHERN by the GRACE of GOD!
  16. Cliff, You heard John offer to buy the beer at the Mississippi Classic....... AND I will not bring any of that "sippin" stuff you claim to have let kick your ass. Good luck on the Match, hope you get your 10 if not more! HOP
  17. Tom, How about an exact round count for the match.......considering no misses and make up shots Sharyn, If I do the CHIMP FLIP, DirtyPool is still the originator so he can keep the avatar Looking forward to it myself! Hopalong
  18. I have not had the chance to talk to John. I'm in for a day then it is back up North to Yankee land (Kentucky)...(If it is NORTH of Tennessee it is Yankee Land! ) to do more work. I have been slowly working on some of the ones that you might would expect to come, now will have to dig a little deeper to get some surprises.....BUT don't hesitate to recrute without me. Bwana, ask John next weekend at the Classifier match. See Ya'll when I get out of that HOSTILE country! HOP
  19. Thanks guys! I guess I'll take it, even though I still don't feel like a master. good shooting to you! HOPALONG
  20. Player, It will count as the first four are just for an initial classification. the next 4 (first 8) will all go towards a new or higher percentage then it becomes as you mentioned.....15% more and you will have to contact USPSA to let them know you want that score counted ( If I can remember all the things as it was told to me) Don't wory about If USPSA will count it or not, and don't sandbag just shoot to your ability at the time, your classification will catch up to you. Good luck, and welcome to the forums, and this wonderful sport. HOPALONG
  21. Bwana, Mink don't want none of the 6gun. IF CZ would let him shoot it.........I kind of think he's scared of one myself. Oh and good guess, but I'll reserve the answer until the match. See ya'll there, see if you can't get encoreman to talk the Louisiana wheel gunners to make the trip. And John, Cliff himself will drink you out into the Poor house!!!! but seems to be a pretty good offer myself. Hopalong
  22. Boo, It can't hurt, try it a while. If it doesn't help you will know to do something different to make that "Change". I went from Limited to Revolver and shot it exclusively for 2 years.....If you want to learn how to make all the bullets count in the gun then go to the wheel....Misses KILL...they usually cause a standing reload that was not planned and then that gets in your head about all the time you're waisting ect. You learn real quick........HIT WHAT YOU'RE AIMING AT!!! Since I switched back to Limited due to a tendon problem agrivated by the wheelgun(about 4 months) I somehow managed to make Master in Ltd. NOW how do you make Master in Limited in 4 months and shooting maybe 8 or 10 matches after shooting a revolver for 2 years prior? The wheelgun teaches you to HIT WHAT YOU ARE AIMING AT!!!!! A little secret known by the side feeders(wheelgunners) but not told to bottomfeeders(autoshooters). Hell even TGO is shooting a wheelgun now.....It can't be that bad. HOPALONG
  23. encoreman, I like you started with a CR for my LTD gun (won it fortunately) I liked it so well and thought that since that is what I was used to that I should go with one for the wheelgun. I don't regret it one bit. Just make sure you get the little rod that fits the belt to adjust cant and twist of the gun, VERY much worth it. AND go ahead and visit Glen(haras) and Pat(Bwana Six gun) and Hank(not a member) they are a good bunch to shoot with and will help if you need it and will gripe and complain if you whup up on them. Pat is the current Section Champion so don't expect him to show you every trick in his hat. Looking forward to the state match myself, it's gonna be good and FUN! HOPALONG
  24. Not for me........ I sugested several things that I and some others all agreed would gain more interest in the point series and it seems to have fallen on deaf ears, or is not the way the BOD seems to want to take the series. After fully supporting it since the beginning I will take my leave of the points series, those of you who still support it and participate in it........ Good luck and have fun. Hopalong.
