  1. My thinking exactly. But is the trigger up to the task for serious accuracy on longer-range shots? I have no idea. If your willing to sit through the videos Nutnfacy on youtube did a video series with Kel-Tec comparing the RFB to other .308 platforms. They used an m1a socom if I remember, SCAR17, and an DPMS AR-10 as well as the RFB. If you don't mind their comments its interesting to see how they felt about the gun. Since they were running it in a run and gun format. They do make comments on how they don't like the trigger, and the problem of it using FAL magazines. I wouldn't use it since I don't really like bullpups that much but I would still find it interesting to see someone run it in a match. But then again I find anyone using anything thats not an AR-15 interesting. First video of 4: http://youtu.be/4QOK0MQCr1o Thanks for that link. I had caught part of one of the four videos and then had to step away and never came back to it. I apply a particular filter to Nutnfancy and discover some useful information. And it is interesting that they get Chad from Kel-Tec to fool around with the RFB as well as the KSG in the other series. Wish I could drop in a CMC trigger group. I might consider picking one up for some 308-style blasting and the once in a while HMO 3-gunning. Oh well.....off to the video series to see it in action.
  2. My PRS is rock solid and seems to have somewhat less noise than either a factory carbine stock or the Magpul ACS with carbine buffer on my M&P15. I needed something with a higher cheek weld and more weight to balance my relatively heavy Satern match barrel. Mission accomplished on both counts. I'm a BIG fan of the PRS now.
  3. That does bring up a good question. What does it actually weigh, Rob? -- Mike
  4. One thing to consider is the type of matches you will attend. Me getting a Loki custom-built rifle could well be considered overkill for my regional matches that are at 200 yards or less. I bought with the idea of going to larger matches and then had some serious health issues from which I am almost completely recovered. I'm a "Buy Once, Cry Once" kind of guy. But I also think you should be sure you need that particular level of performance or whatever before you start the buying and crying. So, please give all those factors careful consideration.
  5. I'm keenly interested in how the speedloader guide was fitted. I don't want to do the work myself because my gunsmithing skills are not up to the task. I would have a local gunsmith do it for me. Does the grip get in the way of Tec-loader sticks?
  6. Is that a Versa Max with an Arredondo chute there? The Deltapoint window looks lower to the receiver than the Vortex Razor Red Dot, true? Who did your M&P slide milling work for the Deltapoint? Nice setup you have there.
  7. I could be gently snarky and say "Versa Max" because you might actually be able to find one in stock. I hear the 930 JM is very difficult to find. I have only handled the Versa Max 26" and the Versa Max Tactical, thus I cannot make a fair comparison. I happen to own the 26" VM. Never had the pleasure of using a 930 JM, unfortunately.
  8. I also run Light Modified in my Versa Max. That is the only choke I have used in three matches. Also, Briley LM in my Benelli SuperNova 24".
  9. Bowie Tactical has done it for the Leupold Deltapoint, so I would imagine the very same could be done for the RTS. That's not a confirmation, but at least some indirect support for the concept.
  10. As a point of information, I run the new Burris FastFire III (3 MOA) as my offset mini red dot on my Loki AR. I have hands-on experience with that device.
  11. Thanks for the responses to date. I wasn't expecting the negativity toward the Deltapoint with the triangle. Regardless, it's good education and what I requested.
  12. I used my Prismatic for one match. I zeroed it at a short distance but at least it wasn't tracking all strange left or right. Well, fast forward a few days and in the match I was four feet to the left at 200 yards. Talk about having to hold to the side...... I've put the Pris on ice until I can figure out something to do with the mount. I hope some of the other users can make some recommendation. My only comment is that the OEM mount likely needs to be replaced; just not sure with what.
  13. I would like to hear from fellow M&P enthusiasts instead of the general Open pistol crowd. I'm shooting Open division in 3-gun with my M&P Pro 9mm 5" barrel. What would you all recommend for a red dot? Leupold Deltapoint Burris FastFire III Vortex Raxor Red Dot other? I appreciate your responses and recommendations. Thank you, Mike
  14. My XRAIL should arrive by middle of next week. I'll put it on the 26" Versa Max and let you know. I have simulated the weight and location of the Full size XRAIL and all the shells with strapped on handweights, so yes, we will all need to eat our Wheaties with these guns when they are full at stage starts! I'll let you know what I think of the combination. Edited to Add: Actually, my XRAIL arrived in the USPS delivery today (Saturday 21 July). Looks interesting.
  15. My XRAIL should have been shipped today. Time to totally rework my Versa Max configuration!
  16. I found comparable prices at two online vendors, cheaperthandirt.com and ammunitiontogo.com. For my location, I found a slight advantage with one over the other with respect to shipping. Thus, total price was a tiny amount lower with one of them. Could be a different result for your location. And there could be others with comparable prices. I bought 160 of them. I hope my Versa Max 26" likes them.
  17. I've never had a rifle failure attributable to any of my adjustable gas systems; both Syrac blocks. One was 16" carbine length and the other is 18" rifle length gas. I've heard some people discuss that 17" rifle gas could be unreliable in some cases because the dwell time is so short.
  18. My thinking exactly. But is the trigger up to the task for serious accuracy on longer-range shots? I have no idea.
  19. Thank you, Benny. With complete seriousness, I thank you for your sage advice. I may have cut the spring too short for the physics of what is happening. My XRAIL should be here shortly and I will see how it shoots then. Plus, I will have a selection of slugs to sample by then.
  20. Only because I could get access to them easily over-the-counter at a local retailer. And they weren't that expensive at the time. They are slightly longer than my Federal Top Gun birdshot rounds (still listed as 2.75"). I had to slightly widen my FSL carrier for them last month. They worked well until the July 7th match.
  21. Would be interested in the above answer. There is no singular answer. Depends on the match rules. My understanding of existing USPSA Multigun rules is that any capacity greater than 8 rounds in the tube at any time will immediately put you in Open for the entire match. to muddy the waters, the proposed rule changes would relax that some. See USPSA for more details. Many matches have their own rule set independent of USPSA. In many of those, you can start with 8 and then do as you wish in the course of fire. But, I already said heck with all of that and decided shoot Open. Much less to worry about!

  23. Mine was welded by Jeff's shop, also. Upon failure, the bolt was closed with the new shell underneath on the lifter. I was never able to find the spent casings since it was in the middle of an active match. Thanks for the info.
  24. Dear Friends, I need some help from more experienced shotgunners than myself. Last Saturday (7th) I had two failures to feed in my Versa Max. Both failures on a stage with slugs. The failures were identical. Ammo was Winchester Super-X slugs. 1oz, full power, 15 rounds per box. During the course of shooting a few plates with the slugs I had two failures to feed. In each case (separated by one successful cycle), the new shell was sitting on the lifter when I pulled the bolt back to cycle the action again and inspect for what was going on. Also, in both cases, the cycle of the bolt brought the new round into the chamber and I could continue. Only failures I've had with anything at any time on my Versa Max. Was the gun dirty and making the lifter stick? Is this type of failure indicative of something else? I don't know enough about shotguns to diagnose this. Thanks!
