  1. this issue should never have been brought before Arnold, it should have been handled years ago and still yet he was tried and convicted, so it should never have made it to the govenor. I think if someone is convicted and they have 2 or 3 credible witnesses it should be an immediate death penalty, none of this 25 years crap and appeal after appeal. Tookies victems didn't get any of those benefits. good riddens, now, 1002!
  2. I have a MSTN gas block and it is the slimest low profile block I have ever seen. I would suggest you check it out before you cut your factory block or buy another. If you use optics it isthe way to go. On my competition rifle I have no need for backup sights, like ryan45kim said, if you have to switch to backup sights on a stage you might as well forget it.
  3. awesome photo album, i'm suprised you had time to shoot the match.
  4. well lets see... I was sick all weekend (i think it was something I ate at Logan's Friday night), i was plagued with gun troubles, i shot like shit, and met pouring rains on the way home. WHERE do i sign up for next year? It really was an awesome match. I enjoyed the props we never see at other matches (Auto AK, AT4, etc). It was great to meet some of the bnoes people i have talked with a lot and never met, looks like I didn't see them all though. A HUGE THANKS to all the AMU staff that put this together especially BIGHAMP who had a lot on his shoulders this weekend. Not sure if he will ever be the same! another thanks to all who supported the match, rippers and so forth. they really made setups between shooters easy.
  5. i believe that HK and Sig are also in the running for the new contract not sure who else
  6. actually craig, i intend to buy that very scope if i get that open pistol (seen in classified section) sold!
  7. Yeah, i do calculations like that while sitting at the breakfast table sipping my morning coffee Have you read that book: anaerobic combustion of nitrocellulose for fun and profit? Great reading! Your way over my head dude, but i really appreciate your input. Do you fly? I've had my private for about 5 years and used to work on F16's in the AF. Solidworks, hell yeah i love it! While I dont have the full blown CosmosWorks, I do have the full Camworks package including 3,4 and 5 axis programming and surfacing + wire EDM and lathe modules. Also have an add-on called GearTrax which makes drawing gears a piece of cake. Steve
  8. thanks Craig, I thought one of the pics on the site showed a AICS with their receiver. Thats why i asked, not like i can afford to build one right know (plug for open pistol in classified section) Steve
  9. from what I saw on their site i guess the actions fit in remmy 700 stocks?
  10. no prob ninja! i just didnt want anyone to think I was trying to go tactical or something. I am building a new rifle and was considering the option of a vertical grip. It might end up be a component i try to see if i like it, but like you mentioned a lot of guys in the Gulf are using them and you would tend to think more would show up on the range.
  11. yeah, I am not discussing the practical uses of a vertical grip anywhere but in uspsa/ipsc/imga. I dont know anything about tactics and wont discuss its uses in areas that i have not knowledge of.
  12. You see a lot of "operator type" AR's with vertical grips, but not too many in Ipsc. Do you think they are a worthy tool or do you think they are a waste of time? They look comfortable they could potentially get in the way most provide a neat place to store "stuff" they add extra weight. lets hear your input.
  13. hey billski, Thanks for the very detailed info. I understand where your thought process is and see where you cant just plug in a number like 11K psi and expect a realistic result. I design using Solidworks and it includes FEAnalysis with software called Cosmosworks. it is the scaled down version of the full blown Cosmosworks that has quite a few more features. I tried plugging in the 11000 psi andof course the part failed miserably, but that value is considered a hydraulic constant load, not momuntery. I am sure you can figure the moment and get a realsonable value to use, but I'm not sure the scaled version of this FEA program can compute the results according to how they should be applied. But i am just playing anyway and thought it would be neat to explore. Steve
  14. I am not a high power shooter, but i do think a lot of those guys use the Kowa brand Paule mentioned. I have heard good things about them, but they are pricey.
  15. this sounds like fun, where do you sign up. and who's gonna volunteer the "bait"? I vote TonyH!
  16. i emailed lea a few weeks ago and saved my spot. can't wait for next years match.
  17. the common part that all effective comps have in common is a large chamber immediately beyond the muzzle followed by a small opening. what you want is for the escaping gases to hit that wall and get rid of it. the larger the initial chamber the more effect it is, to a point. the smaller holes on the top and sides, while providing nominal escapment and looking real cool, offer little for the removal of gas. i would like to get access to a high speed video camera and spend a day on the range testing different comps. i think this would clearly show what happens immediately after the bullet leaves the muzzle.
  18. I was playing with a comp design and wanted to run an FEA program on my finished product to see how small i could make it and it still be safe. The program can apply a load in PSI so i wanted to know if anyone knew how to convert the muzzle velocity of x Ft/sec to a PSI value?
  19. they already posted the results and oldly enough, I won!
  20. SinistralRifleman, Did you get all A's on that run? Did you also have to paste them yourself?
  21. i would rather shoot 1 good MULTI-GUN match in a year than shoot 5 3 gun matches. I like the challenge of multiple weapons on the same stage.
  22. why is it that another mag release works then?
  23. Ok, looks like the Ky Krew will be there and this time we're bringing reinforcements!
