  1. Using the same CR SPEED BELT and aluminum mag holders with the tension wheel in the back.... I use for my open gun.
  2. ok, now the pic on top is the KAW, WAB is on bottom....
  3. I would have to pull the barrel to get an accurate reading on the case protrusion out of chamber, it does look less out of the WAB than the KAW visually. The only thing that has changed is the barrel....sooo, I would have to assume the bolt face is too far from the primer, I tried 2 new bolts. The KAW was at .149 (on the left)
  4. Ok, so I change out the short chambered KAW barrel, that had a 100% ignition on primers, installed Wilson Arms and bang bang bang ect ..no hit, no marks...different loads, different profiles all Winchester primers, bang bang etc ..no hit, no mark....changed mags (all ETS mags worked before)...bang bang bang etc...no hit no mark...change to a new bolt, ..bang bang bang etc...not hit no pin marks.... SO,..do I now have a chamber that is too deeep?? (tearing of garments in the background)
  5. I see you (ACR) and a few others use the MFT Minimalist to drop a few ozs... is that adjustable or fixed?
  6. Thanks for yours, yea Im not a small guy so the added weight is not super but noticed going from 6.5 to 7.2lbs..I was turning total times around 112 secs in Steel Challenge with the Cmore, KAW barrel and no Alum magwell combo...that 112 sec time range will be my baseline for eval of any time/ speed or transition increases...may run flatter and quicker!
  7. Latest iteration, pulled the KAW installed the Wilson Arms (heavy barrel) and Vortex (was a C-More), now its heavy,...may drop the Vortex back to the CMore and lose the Aluminum Magwell and put the Taccom back on it..not as light as it was for sure, going to shoot it first see how it behaves
  8. Thanks for that...just mounted up a new Wilson Arms barrel...and I just ordered the SRS 9 / 5.4 oz...I am runnging a weighted Spinta bolt that I dont "think" i could de-weight it if needed...so the current config is a KAW 7.5 oz buffer...a little clunky and noisy...hopefully this new one wont hit the back end of the buffer...i do have the NFA plug, but it would not work on the current config...hopeful for any improvement.....thx again.
  9. This thread reads like a whos who in buffer build outs, its is great read tho,...This config looks simple Wylie, what weight did you go with out of curiosity and are you shooting low PF reloads or factory? There are 5 options I see. Thanks, O1
  10. Hi Eric, I just received the Wilson Arms SS barrel tonight, and it is a nice barrel, all be it a little on the heavy side as you mentioned earlier, not a great deal more than the KAW, published spec between the 2 barrels is 4 ozs, will have to weight them both when I pull the KAW off my NFA... and to confirm OAL tolerance of the new W. Arms..I drop tested various lengths up to the longest I had loaded at 1.125 and it spun freely...AT LAST!! I am excited to install it and test...I would love to have it turned down some like you did, but my Smith is gone to compete in the World Shoot and the AZ State PCC Champs are in 30 days, need to settle this gun down with a good barrel and practice, practice..so I am going with it as is for now. Thanks for all your solid recon on the barrels...good info. Eric J
  11. Our Lab is for receiving inspection of parts from our suppliers, we have precision gauging systems but we do not do any machining unfortunately. I did run the 2nd KAW barrel today with various profiles, and "short" lengths loaded to an avg 1.060 on Frontier FP 121g, 115g MG RN, 124g Delta HP, 121g MG IFI, of all these the Frontier 121 FP and MG 115g ran perfectly at 1.060, Deltas were actually at 1.080 and misfed a few times,...interesting point of ref to the Factory OAL on a Amercan Eagle 147 g Flat Point OAL out of the box is 1.060. So all this discovery and chrono work shows the shorter OAL and the same charge did not change the PF enough to make any noticeable difference, regardless, on a recommend from AIRCooled have ordered a Wilson A. 16 inch SS and will go through the dimensional pre checks, if it will carry the desired longer loaded OAL ..then KAW comes out and will find a smith to Ream it for another build or back up. JSE Surplus price was fair enough at $130 and checking the weight it is only 3 oz heavier than the KAW, likely not enough to notice...will report on it in a few days.
  12. Yes and a solid observation, ..and apparently a chronic mfg (or standard dimensioning for KAW) condition, just returned the KVP Barrel to JBOB, they sent another ahead in 2 days of my providing depth gauged dimensions of the chamber and bolt face using our Aero-Space lab,.. which may not have had any value with no baseline dimension provided back to me for determining a Go-No-Go barrel......no other questions asked, barrel showed up quick, measured and plunked, a twin to the one I sent back.........so I installed and tested, ran like the other one with a couple of cases that didn't clear the eject port and rattled around in there while the next round tried to load...this is new but was not chronic, 2 times out of 50 or so rounds, but still not happy to load this short, I am not confident of running it in the State PCC Champs next month, I think another barrel has to be bought from someone else..then I will have the KVP barrel reamed by a smith for a back up or another build, its a shame I really like the profile and weight of the KVP barrel,...but has to be consistent. So far have not seen anything like it.. yet.
  13. I guess its not a show stopper loading short...the loads I developed for PCC are not the best for my hanguns in 9mm...thx Eric.
  14. I just built my NFA PCC with a KAW Valley Barrel.., I don't know if Faxon makes them or not, but I know it will not manually eject last round show clear without banging on the charger due to bullet jammed in rifling. I dropped from 1.110 OAL with a 115 MG down to 1.070..."plunk" drop right in...all bullet profiles end up with a ring/marks around the bullet from the rifling at anything over 1.070 ......just hoping I don't end up compressing my loads with 124g bullets...need to do some chrono work now with the mandatory shorter load required for the rounds to eject properly. My friend from our club built his NFA using a KAW Valley barrel, but...his drop test no problem at 1.135....clearly a dimensional variance between these same barrels, throat to rifling lead in...................??
  15. Drop-in trigger that I didnt have to do anything to for a reasonable price...that just works, my lower did not come with a trigger...
  16. Roger that..we talked to them as well..great folks at New Frontier (Airborne..over St Louis)
  17. I read about half of this thread and only saw 1 Hiperfire EDT 3 listed (with no fails)...it is a $100 trigger that's runs about 4lb pull (did not test it)and when I installed on my new NFA side charger build, it ran right out of the box...on about 800 rounds now without a hiccup. i think this will lighten a little the more I shoot, but for reliability sake... I don't need a trigger on my PCC like my open gun. Very happy with this model, and 2 of my buddies who followed my same bill of materials from my build to make theirs are using the same trigger...zero fails.....FYI.
  18. Just got my new NFA magwell from Bmiller and I am delighted, it is machined very nicely and fits like a glove, magwell is perfect and feed mouth is aligned with the lower mag opening with no edges. Here are a couple pics for those interested in a great magwell.
  19. I think you are on the right track for powder drop with Clays...I have loaded some Hornady 147s last week on top of Clays and Titegroup @ 3.1 for chrono and mostly feel, personally I did not care for it felt ...how my buffer is set up (7.5 oz). I find after testing 8 diff powders and speeds...my ideal speed depending on the powder would be 1050 to 1150...however since barrels differ ymmv. Personally I am leaning to 115g to 121g for my go to bullet loads with gassy powder to get some use from the comp...maybe this helps.
  20. I went to running 1 contact in my right eye when I started shooting open class...now do so in all divisions that I run a dot in....no more fuzzy dots.
