  1. Have not gone to 200 yet, however I am using Bullseye and just making major at 920fps (prefer but cant find any Viht 320) and run 155g at 1.135 and for matches 180g at 1.170-1.180 no feed issues at all...
  2. I think I am the only guy at our club that has taken down our TXSSTAR and all FIVE plates with one shot! I shot the top plate first like your supposed to............and the whole thing crashed over on the ground and the plates went flyin! (No joy,...I had to reshoot)
  3. nice nite bass #8? canyon? a litlle over 10 lbs out of Pleasant up in the river end....
  4. Yea, it takes some force to push them all in, I may not have ground the edges enough...
  5. Hmm, ok, maybe the guys at Ghost were not aware, ..I just got all the Grams pads to fit with a little filing on the base lips, they all work "MT", so its range time tomorrow, hopefully Im GTG. Thank much, O1
  6. Thanks for the input, I understand the mechanics completely now, and I did not take much off, maybe .050, or 1/32 I used some tape to delineate a "fault line" if you will to stop at... I did stop at a local shop "CZ Custom" (Ghost Products) , that looked over the mags, checked them in the USPSA gauge, and found them out of spec,.. they are all shooters and loaders and very experienced with STI, they set me up with 4mm Grams Base pads, none of them fit proper on the base lips, so they tuned one to accept the Gram, it loaded right up with 20 rounds (eta "19") and locked in finally like it is supposed too, those guys were great...they said I could or should send them out to GE for tuning, he said once you get them back they "will be right",...I am going to trim up the rest of the lips on the bases and run them to the range tomorrow before our Thursday night IPSC match to make sure they feed ok first, they said the followers and springs should be changed out...so I guess those will have to be ordered from somewhere,....any likes on the followers / springs (sources) you guys have had success with? Appreciate the help....O1
  7. Sorry for the late reply (out filing on these mags)....Yes they go in fine when empty, and they are 140mm, I bought them all at the same time, the gun came with just one 126-10-40, but I can only get 9 in that one,...I can get 17 in the others, but like I said its a bear to get them to lock up, so I just filed the upper edge window on all of them, deburred and cleaned and only loaded up to 16 rnds, and they lock up ok...I think I can trust them with 16,...but its not what I expected for a $60 mag.....(eta $240 worth)
  8. Well, I looked at every post I could find and in the pinned STI mag post section, and I have sure got a lot of info about tuning etc...but I have not seen much on what is causing me to excert so much upward pressure to get the mag to lock in slide closed, bent the casing on the top rounds in the mag at a qualifier match this sunday whacking the snot out the mags (17rnds stock STI mags) 4 of them all new,...I was told to file the back side of the mag catch window,..that didnt do much, I see a drag scratch about an inch long that ends at the top of the catch window in the same place on all four mags...anyone seen this before? Perhaps I need to file the "upper" edge of the window open more..? The mag catch looks ok,.... I know mag questions and posts are prolific, and this may have been covered somewhere, but any help would be appreciated, if this is a simple fix, I would rather try than send them off to a tuner right now. Thx, O1
  9. I understand this feeling and when I RO a stage like today at a USPSA qualifier, we had the last stage with 32 rnds, 9 metrics, (lot of holes) 2 movers, 3 steel,...and a bottleneck at this last stage, I would call off the shooter, ..on deck, ..in the hole etc, anyone after that I call off.. so-n-so TAPE!, ..so-n-so TAPE!, next guy on the list BRASS! etc,... this way everyone hears the duty roster, and then everyone knows who the guys are responsible for their task, and the shooters up next can concentrate on the stage procedure and be clear about their run,....many times guys do nothing (especially here in AZ heat, under umbrellas etc) but given DIRECTION most guys will respond and now can be held accountable...<br>However there are always Prima Donnas and Lazy people, somehow "dead weight" cards find their way to the bottom of the stack.... ;-)
  10. Welcome, Im a Newbie here too, but found some great information, a lot of knowledge here as well,...I just came back from a USPSA Qualifier at Ben Avery, and I shoot there every Thursday night as a member of CCML, come on out sometime if you like Practical Pistol...good to see another Valley Desert Dweller in the forum...O1
  11. Thx for the welcome all.. and you bet Ogie, we may have met at CCML, I shoot there every Thurs nite and Sundays...USPSA qualifier there this Sunday! O1
  12. Hey all, I have picked up a lot just reading the posts here,..I am a newly minted R/O from one of George Jones/ USPSA trainings, and he had Brian's site noted in the curriculum. Shooting since I was 8, my Dad was a Gun buyer/seller back in the 60's-70's...so I have shot a lot of different guns, started shooting local matches about 6 months ago then joined USPSA, and have been shooting in single stack .45 with a stock Dan Wesson Heritage,(SA magwell)...loading my own on a Dillon 550 and have learned a lot with both activities. Becoming and R/0 really changed my perspective from the shooters view, and immersed me in the sport and I love every bit of it. Yesterday I picked up a STI EDGE .40 so we will see how that works out in Limited Division, not sure, (I really like single stack),... anyway, look forward to getting to know the gang here, and if you ever get to Phx drop me a note! O1
