  1. Major 40 in a STI for USPSA, 9mm in a SV for IDPA. 9mm shoots soft, is cheap to load, and no muzzle flip. Gamemy, YEP!!
  2. +1 on the mag spring. The only problem I've ever had with my Benelli.
  3. This is strickly anecdotal, so I can't say it proves anything - but: When I started using a 15lb. mainspring, (with a Koenig hammer, TI strut and cap, and EGW or Extreme Engineering sear) I also started using a long firing pin, and have never had a misfire with 30-40K + rounds.

+1 EricW If you've ever been involved in any organization as a director (rod and gun club or the like), you know that by and large, the majority of directors have the best interest of the organization at heart. There's always one or two people that are/cause problems but all-in-all, decisions are made by consenses; good, bad, or indifferent. And politics is ever-present, like it or not. You elect good people and hope for the best. A vigorous organization like USPSA has had good representation via the BOD overall, the past few years. God knows it's a thankless job that's a whole lot more work than play. As long as all monies are accounted for - I trust that our BOD makes decisions for the the good of USPSA. If I didn't feel this way, I'd certainly have the opportunity to run for office. Not to drift the thread too much - but the lack of participation by rank and file members in IDPA at the BOD level is a big obstacle for the growth of that organization. Although, it is a .com and not a .org. So it's a matter of 'you pay your money, you take your chances'. At least in USPSA we have the option.

That's why I've cautiously asked - been around USPSA awhile now and it's the first time I've ever heard it occured.
  7. Let's see, how do I ask this? What are some of the ways that the BOD can suspend your membership?
  8. I stopped using a Barney mag (for my ESP pistol) after a SO asked me a question that sidetracked me and I forgot to load a new mag. Beep, bang, 'why did my slide lock back?', empty gun!?! Not the SO's fault at all - just mine. Now I load a mag with 11. My pre-stage routine is simple, faster, and I always use the same numbered mag. YMMV.
  9. What production guns where used by the regular S_I, Caspian crowd, i.e: the big dogs (Phil, Travis, etc.) that shot production?
  10. It was a more challenging match than I expected. You had to have all the shots in your bag. Fast open target engagement, movers, swingers, drop turners, head shots at 15 to 20 yds, well placed non-threats, and a piece of steel here or there that had to be hit fast and accurately or... bad things happened. The match had well thought out stages that challenged all classes. The half day format was great! The match moved along very well. Oh yeah - Thanks to all the match staff - A thankless job well done. I'll be back next year.
  11. Let me add kudos! This is the fourth year I've shot the match and by far, the smoothest running and best. We had a short delay on one stage and still finished in just under six hours which is great considering the large facility. GREAT STAGES and PROPS!! The date change seemed to help with the weather, which was spectacular (especially compared to the last couple of years). Thanks to all!!
  12. Uh, sorry about the title, couldn't help it... Anyway... Benny Hill modified my M1 and I put a bunch of rounds through it recently. Awesome. Everybody says Benny is 'the man', it's true, he knows what he's doing. The great thing about his service is his turn-around time. I received it the day he said he'd complete it (approx 2-3 weeks). I've got a friend who's been waitings almost 2 months to get an remmy back from another smith. Thanks Benny!
  13. Slight thread drift: +1 on Flyin40 and tptplayer. I thought I was the only one that experienced this. I gave up on magic dots because they were a big hassle for me with multiple shooting glasses for different conditions. With training, practice, and not giving up, I've made it work. I open my eyes when I can and close my 'new' nondominant left eye when I have to.
  14. I've got a S_I in 9mm that I use for IDPA and as an economical training pistol. I run it at approx 130 PF (124's running around 1050 FPS). I've run as low as an 8 lb. recoil spring but find that a 10 lb. gives me 100% feed reliability.
  15. Let's see? Golf, Motorcycles, Home Improvement? I'm a kid and I'm playing golf at Myrtle Beach AFB. Hit a big drive farther then I ever had and the ball barely rolls into water hazard. Well I'm a kid and balls are expensive, so I go after it with a sandtrap rake. I reach out for the ball and as the rake rolls the ball out, a water moccasin rolls out with it. Ever see those cartoons where the character jumps straight up and runs? You can really do that. Even though water moccasins are pretty rare up north (where I live now), balls stay in water. I'm riding a dirt bike hell bent for whatever and I spot the ditch. I jump on the throttle, pull up the on the handle bars, and the front fork goes directly into the ditch...and stops dead...I don't. Everything was fine until my legs hit the handlebars and I hit the ground and all of the air left my body. The funny thing was that I distinctly remember looking at my broken bike and hearing two little kids who witnessed the endo excitely describing each and every detail to each other while I gasped for breath. Stopped entertaining little kids after that, at least until I had my own. And now, I'm a little older and more responsible (?) and I'm renovating an apartment I own. My dad is helping me install a new bath wall that's just a little tall. So I brace it at the bottom opposite my dad while he 'persuades' the top plate into position with a hammer. All of the sudden I feel a bang, and my face kinda hurts and I'm seeing stars (really!). My Dad is nervously laughing as he realizes he missed the top plate.. and hit me square in the face with the damn hammer. Sold the apartment building eventually. There's more, but, you know...
  16. Sometimes I like to dry fire When I am mentally and/or physically tired. This forces me to focus on the fundamentals and recreates the conditions you encounter from time to time during a long match. For me, focus blocks out the mental lethargy. After a few minutes I'm usually doing well, and it's a good confidence boost. I'm not saying I do this all the time, but it's great practice for overcoming fatigue during a match.

FTDR , A miss would be down five if a target was scored Vickers or Limited Vickers. But a target scored Vickers without an additional down one hit would receive a FTN while a target scored Limited Vickers can't receive an FTN by rule PP 3 B. (p.17). The question I have is, if you've got four targets and you can use 5 rounds max., how can a stage be scored Vickers? TIGHTLOOP , Duly noted

    Bug And Ftn

This weekend I shot a BUG match. One stage had 4 targets, one round each. On one of the targets I had a down 3 and received an additional 5 second penalty for failure to neutralize. My side: 1) BUG stages are limited to 5 rounds. (p.26 of rulebook) 2) FTNs only apply to "...standard Vickers Count scoring..." (p. 17 ") 3) Limited Vickers is defined as: ..." Same as Vickers count described above EXCEPT the number of shots you can fire on any string is limited to the number specified in the course description." (p.46 ") 4) Bug stages are Limited Vickers stages i.e.: no penalties for FTN The match director (and my shooting buddy) side: "...BUT all stages did not require the full 5 rounds, thus allowing for at least 1 makeup shot (per stage)..." In the grand scheme of things it's no big deal but I'm curious about what you guys think. FTN or no FTN.
