  1. Hammer follows on my 2011, came on rather suddenly to the point where it was happening almost every single round. Took apart, sear/hammer looked good, put a bit more tension on the sear spring, gun ran fine for about 300 rounds, then started again. Can not get hammer to follow in any dryfire condition (holding the trigger back, etc.) So I am pretty sure its the searspring, but I have never had one in over 20 years behave like this. Yes, no?
  2. Please excuse, up here in Canada we are a tad behind our brethren down south, but I noticed that IMR has released its new colour coded powder line up! Any intel on these...? I am so wanting to find a comparable replacement for 4756.
  3. 2 x 3g rifle 1x 3g shot gun 1x trap gun 1x 3g pistol 5 x IPSC pistols (classic, open and production) 2 x steel challenge pistol 1 x steel challenge rife 2 x "super accurate .22" We are not allowed to defend ourselves in Canada........so whatever.
  4. Anyone heard anything about these yet?
  5. *perk* do you have any more info on this!
  6. I was wondering if anyone had ever put on a heart rate monitor during a match? Especially interested in what happens as you get to the line and begin LARM. I think everyone gets jacked up, some more than others, but I suspect the better shooters are able to keep their heart rates down at the start of a stage. Might be a interesting training exercise?

    VP9 loads

Very interesting/helpful! Thanks for posting this.
  8. It seems that this particular make/combo is very hard on shock buffs, any thoughts as to why and what you use?
  9. Ok this makes sense, but....what happens if/when you have to use factory/match ammo? Are you pooched or do you stand some chance of reliability?
  10. So I hear tell of some folks using 10mm mags in their .40's so they can load "extra long" for better feeding and in theory lower pressure. I load as long as I can in 9mm and Super, but not convinced going to a 10mm mag in a .40 is really going to be worth it, and if you were to load 165's that could cause problems as you may not be able to load long enough to feed properly. Thoughts?
  11. A couple folks asked "why" or suggested this was some hillbilly stunt. Why?, other than it being fun, there is a bit of a backstory here. There are two guns that helped cure me of all flinching, the first is obvious a .44 blackhawk, learn how to shoot a .44 full load of H110 consistently your good. The second was a .30 carbine Ruger revolver. That was a real head game because it is so loud and the concussion was pretty significant, yet there was no more recoil than an mild .38. Adding a huge fireball to the equation was just another way to train out any flinch whatsoever. Or at leas that is my story I think this is what I love about black powder shooting so much is that there is a whole lot more going on than just a bang and hole in the target.
  12. I have sadly discovered that HK parts support outside of the US is abysmal. No point at all in discussing further unless HK parts become as available as CZ, 1911/2011. Really too bad because I loved my VP9 but not a lot of point if I can't even get a basic spare parts kit into Canada.

    VP9 loads

Just being lazy as I am sure it is covered someplace else, but.... 3.4g of WSF seem to be a reasonable start out of a VP9 for minor?
  14. Now, lets keep this safe and on the books, but I am wondering if anyone else has tried to generate huge fireballs out of their 9mm's. 8.5 of Bluedot and 90g bullet in a 4" barrel....very interesting FYI the attached picture is with a 686 4", 124g TMJ.
  15. Alas I am in Canada. ITAR is not super friendly about such things. It can be done, but for a sight job it would probably end up cheaper to just get the tool.
  16. Just got my Dawson competition sights and not super keen on bashing the old ones out with the provided tools. Anyone done this? I know the sight pusher is the "proper" way to go, but seems the only one that can do it for sure is the sight pro at $345. Thanks.
  17. Update in recoil spring, apparently the SS assembly, assuming you can get one, is not IPSC legal as it isn't OEM. There has to be a way! These would be so smooth if you could just get the nose dive tuned a bit.
  18. Hi Adam, I am shooting a VP9 in production this year and while I really like it, there is a big problem. Parts. Living in Canada, we don't have access to the great amount of parts available in the US. I have heard the same form other people in Europe as well. The problem as I understand it, is that HK, hasn't gotten ITAR approval for export. So you can go to Brownells and order a Smith or a Springfield spring assembly for example, yet you can't for HK. As long as its under $100us it is not a problem. To be fair some Glock parts are not approved either. I know its a bit more complicated that this, but I think the HK's are every bit as good as Sig, and if I can get trigger parts for a 320, why not for an HK?
  19. ^ what he said. If you can, spend the $$$, no on I know who has, has had any complaints....other than it is exactly a drop 'n swap.
  20. Surprised the Trigicon TR24 isn't mentioned? If you don't shoot much more than 300m (as we do up here), it is by far the clearest, brightest scope you will find. If have the $$$ yea I would shoot a razor probably, but I have been very happy with my TR24.
  21. For someone that doesn't have time to practice/fumble, I use Gunnar solutions. Awesome because you can go old school on at a time, or doubles or quads and the system is very forgiving. Also they were super friendly to me about shipping to Canada.
