  1. I do think the screen type barriers help you anticipate the shot. I don't think snow fence or at least the ones I have seen help too much though. They seem to have enough sight obscurance to limit my vision. I have been know to run right by a poorly marked port in one! I wasn't too happy about doing it knowing it was there. Black landscape fabrick is pretty hard to see through but not very durable. I do think ease of setup and cost is a factor for local small clubs. You could however, double up the snow fence and make it almost impossible to see through.
  2. I guess I forgot about the other states with thier still intact 10 round limits....good point. I think production is a fine class....a lot of people seem to have questions about limited 10...but single stack seems to not have many people in it...but I understand wanting to intice the IDPA players into our sport. The three pound pull in production will be a hairball but c'est la vie. I think excessive back patting at a local level is great if the club can afford it...but for small clubs I think putting a limit on how many people need to be in a class is fine. My small club gives you $5 bucks back on a class if we have enough people....and $10 back for the match win...our fee is $15 to shoot. Hell...I would show up if they paid nothing, just because they donate thier time to set it up and run it. I think our sport is still in it's infancy and could become something very big. Look at NASCAR, I think no one thought it would be as big as it is today 20 years ago. Running fast cars carrying moonshine = multi billion dollar sport. Shooting guns most people think are scary = multi billion dollar sport in 20-30 years! Maybe one day we can go public and protect our sport from those who dislike guns. We will just have conflict and work through it until we reach the level I think we are headed for. I still get excited about seeing us on OLN and Shooting USA! We need to go out and recruit new shooters so we grow faster. We have the best group of people I have ever been around in a sport....As a whole we are very friendly and warm to new people. Every rule we have should be held to this litmus test.
  3. I must admit it would be nice to use my production gun with more bullets like my Limited gun.....but then why not just shoot my limited gun? Of course if the laws don't regress to Clintonesque times we could put a cap of 15 rounds on production to make it current with most 40's and 9's out there now. And while we are brain storming here....how about raising the floor for minor about 5PF to get the bunny fart loads a little closer to those who don't reload...just to level the field a little more. I personally don't think any of these things would hurt production, just make it better and more current. We just don't want to scare off the people who don't have the money (or want to use it to play more or travel) and don't want to play the equipment game. And I for one, can see many new shooters starting in production. I think it would be alot less confusing and more fun to let them have 15 rnds in the gun. We have all seen or can remember ourselves running our guns dry at our first few matches. Plus they would have to buy fewer mags to get started.
  4. Last year I was lucky enough to have Shannon Smith's mom for a squad mom. This year I was lucky enough to have JL Hardy for our squad Pa. Just wanted to say thanks! Makes it much easier to just think about shooting...or trying to shoot. Oh and congrats on taking third...
  5. I changed that positive camber just a little with some 600 then 1200 paper on a flat stone surface. I never adjusted the height of the engagement thus heading toward trouble.
  6. I've had charlie's drop in and his custom (send it to him) triggers. They are both good but if you send him your gun he has an amazing way of giving you a very smooth trigger with little or no stack before it fires. Call Vanek and talk to him he's a very nice guy and he will help you a bunch if you get one of his drop in triggers. He used to do Goloski's trigger and quite a few other top Glock shooters. A good trigger will help you a lot with one handed shooting and the ever popular 25yd head shot.
  7. Hey I know this gun....I saw it Sunday at the Ant Hill 3-Gun You would think after so long on the forum I would know who I shoot with. This gun looks great in person. I'm sold...as soon as the Area 6 match is over I am sending in my SVI and having it done....I love blueing and black guns but having now switched to a DOH and dropping the ghost I need to protect from holster wear. Chuck
  8. I like wearing my Titleist hat to matches large and small. Much to my delight it drives one unnamed GM to make comments to me. Ah...all in fun...where would this sport be if we cannot poke fun at one another. As for fast size adjusting velcro....I've had my eye on those geriatric golf shoes at Dick's....I wonder if I can ditch my soft-spikes and go back to my metal spikes now!
  9. I have only experienced the moly build up in glock barrels with precisions. Bore snake works well with the rest of my guns at then end of a match with one swipe. I did use the jacket cleaning method on the Glock barrels and it seemed to work well.
  10. I do the blury look over top the sights thing too. I often can't see my hits on close targets....but really pick them up on ones past 10 yrds or so. I am a B limited who is starting to shoot some A classifiers. I see many new shooters trying to aim way too much and not feeling thier way with the gun. When I am on, I am relaxed and looking over the gun and calling and watching my shots show up. I shot 92% on sunday of an active GM during the Pistol only stage of a 3-gun match. One close target had what I thought on first inspection to be only one hit...I was mad...and looked closer...there it was my first true double at speed. Any closer and they would have given me a mike. I knew I didn't miss because my timing was good...but because it was a 7 yrd target I never saw the hits.
  11. +1 on the high impact with 147's and factory sights....glad to know I am not the only one. I have had great luck with the Precision moly 125's in mine with HP38...seem to be dead on. I can't load them long like the 147's though.
  12. OK so his chrono was not off! I used my new Competition Electronics Pro and got the same thing. I guess I will have to bump it up a couple tenths. I got to looking at why these Precision Deltas were slower and decided to mic a few of them and some Montana Golds..............Deltas .3995....Montanas .397 to .398 Now I know why!
  13. Well I have yet to rechrono but I am glad to see I am maybe not losing my mind. If it is the chrono it will be my first bad run in with one. However my powder safety return bar was backing off last year just before Area 6........get to the chrono......165.0...gulp!
  14. I always just seated the bullet long...even crimped you can push them down more with press force. Just drop it into the chamber and make sure it will spin with your fingers. When you feel one on the rifling you will note it will not bee all the way in and will not spin easy. Just keep shortening it until it drops in easy and spins with minimal effort. You will find some bullet profiles allow longer lengths in your barrel than others. Montana Golds seem to allow the longest for me.....and Precision Deltas the shortest (they have higher shoulders). Every single one will be different so don't take it for granted.
  15. Precision Deltas....Cheap Green Master Chrony (a friends)....I just bought a Competition Electronics Pro Digital for my own. The Precision Moly 185's are on the way. I just have a hrd time thinking this bullet is that much slower but this friends Chrony has always been dead on. Oh well....I'll let you know after I chrono tommorrow!
  16. I just chronoed some loads that should have been at least near major and they were 100FPS slow. I will rechrono but was wondering if changing to a new lot of N320 would be that much slower. I put 5.0gn of n320 behind a Precision 180gn at 1.190" OAL. This load should be a good 170PF and have been in the past. And I know my old load of 1.200" and 5.1gn N320 with a MG 180JHP was 170PF in a slow Bar Sto Barrel. Maybe the battery was dieing...I hope. I have a hard time accepting I need 5.4gn at that length to make major!
  17. Thanks Chris. Thats the most straight forward way I have heard it explained. I have been looking at my major match results trying to get some kind of information about how to improve my shooting metally. As I go back and remember how the stages were laid out, I can see my error. Too often I shoot too many points on a close short stage. It is hard for me to be sloppy for the sake of a faster time. Oh and before I forget, tell Brandon he is sandbagging that C class of his
  18. +1 on the Flare. Sometimes it may have more memory and spring back to shape. It sounds like it is having a hard time getting in the case. Check your bullet dia too just to make sure it is not bigger. Something must have moved in the swap.
  19. Mad Scientist is the man who helped me with my open gun. Drop him a PM.
  20. I like the green because we shoot alot of orange birds in the woods...red is just too close for my tastes and the match. I shoot red on my pistol though.
  21. I would be partly responsible for the better turn out in South Carolina. I had convinced two very good shooters to go and 1 changed to lim 10. Both are very good and will probably come in at B class...with some effort A should be easy for them. Bummer the one I got to shoot was unclassified....but he was happy to shoot around 62% of Cliff. He didn't have a great match but it was his first big one. Next year i think both will shoot the SC, Area 6 and maybe the NC matches.
  22. Wilson ADP Don't laugh or respond until you have shot one! You can hear the round rattle in the chamber but it shoots one ragged hole, holds ten rounds, comes with night sights, and is pretty small. It will also fit in smaller hands...like the wife's. It is a 9mm but we all know that is enough. Not sure on the Cal. thing.
  23. I pay $20/K ....alot off the puplic ranges and some from police ranges. Glocked brass never seemed to be a problem in my guns. I will tell you some ranges are selling the brass for scrap because the prices are better. I seem to get a better deal sometimes on the Nickle cases because of this......go figure!
  24. No the ghost will not work. A glock speed sec may if you trim the sides of the trigger a little.....but you would be better with the CR speed.
