  1. So now I have a choice to make. Get a 9mm slide or order a complete pistol. Deliveries from Italy are not terribly reliable. I leave for a winter in Texas at the end of Oct and can't get a new gun in time so that will wait until the spring when I return to the frozen north. Thanks for the help gents!
  2. Yep. The Stock II is shorter and I just saw that our Limited Pro is 4.9 too. I'm looking for something I can shoot in IPSC Production here and Steel Challenge when I'm in Texas. I'd also use a 9mm for 3Gun. I was just checking the IDPA rules to see if the Ltd Pro is legal. I don't shoot IDPA often but that would be another use. I'm getting my numbers from the Canadian distributor and the Tanfoglio catalogue. A remaining question is whether a Long Slide conversion will fit my Limited Custom Xtreme frame. EAA said so in an email but I want to verify. They say the long slide barrel is 4.75
  3. I'm still confused as the Tanfo specs clearly indicate that my barrel (Limited Custom Xtreme) is 125 mm which works out to 4.921 inches and I don't see that length anywhere in your list. Are the exports to Canada different. Sorry if I'm dense so take another crack at me. 4.75 inches converts to 120.65 mm. Are we measuring from different places on the barrel? I just measured my barrel muzzle to breach is 4.78 inches (121.6mm). I wonder where they get 125 MM
  4. I just took delivery of an Limited Custom Xtreme in .40. It has a 125mm barrel which converts to almost 5 inches. I'm interested in getting a 9mm slide for this pistol but am confused on barrel lengths. EAA has a 9mm "Long Slide" but that measures to 4.75 inches and despite them saying it will fit my gun, we clearly have a problem. What should I be looking for? The Limited Custom pistols on the EAA site call for 4.75 inch barrels. What am I missing?
  5. I just got my first IPSC DQ. It was after the "hammer down" but I got sloppy with a new holster and the gun dropped. It pains me greatly but it will also never happen again. It's not just the DQ but the specter of getting another one in the same calendar year that's scary up here in the frozen north.
  6. When I said "load to the max I meant chamber a round and then top up or use a stripper mag. Did I misunderstand? I'm in Canada so 10 round mags are the norm.
  7. Plus 2 on many of the good things said including going to Greg Cote for excellent pricing and service. I got started in shooting very late and now shoot in just about all of the disciplines. Safety is priority one, fun is the second and last is to enjoy the fellowship as it's one of the best part of shooting in the organizations. Last of all might sound like a contradiction but go slowly! Speed will come in time and rushing anything won't work and may make you look and feel foolish. One of my goals is to shoot cleanly, get the hits and try to avoid the inevitable brain cramps. You may be surprised at how the mental element is a major part of the challenge.
  8. I have around 12 mags for every gun and caliber I own and rotate them. I usually carry six to the line with one of them being a stripper mag that goes into a pocket. Develop a habit of always loading to the max at all times. If you make the use of the stripper mag a part of your loading routine you will never regret not loading that chambered round and then having five fully loaded ones on the belt. You will never know when a mag may fail or drop in the dirt and become unusable. It's hard to beat Mecgar and they manufacture many of the mags shipped with CZ's and Tanfos
  9. My new Limited Customs Xtreme sells for roughly $2500 Ca now. As is, it's one heck of a gun. I can't for the life of me figure out $4700 would go. The mounted C-More is obvious as are the ported barrel and comp. But $4700 ??
  10. Here's my Xtreme in .40 The *thumb rest [generic]* has been replaced by a slightly modified RHT thumb rest that allows the gun to fit the IPSC box. I can't stop smiling when I see this gun.
  11. One of the things I learned was to roll the shoulders towards the ears. This changes the orientation of the elbows so that when recoil hits, they flex out rather than down. This counteracts flip in particular and improves the perception of control as the force is back into the body. This is coupled with a slightly forward stance taken when you press out to the target. Everything already said about grip applies.
  12. Hey y'all! I'm a winter Texan every year in Corpus Christi and have been so for five years. You have absolutely nothing to fear from me but I arranged my trip this year so that I can shoot in this event. You can shoot just about anywhere in April but you can't duplicate Corpus Christi hospitality! I'm driving 1800 miles again to be with my Corpus shooting buddies. C'mon down! Herc aka Gord
  13. First I would like to establish that I'm a casual competitor meaning that safety, fun and then the score are important in that order. I compete in just about everything both in the US and here in Canada. I started late and almost above all else I enjoy the fellowship of the shooting community All that said, I don't resent any warning that may be issued but the manner in which it's done is important. I never stop learning and don't have to be scolded or ridiculed at my age which is double that of most shooters. In one of my last matches, I was approached by an RO a while after I had finished a stage who said that while he was running the stage another RO had noted a "trigger" issue. That part of the stage involved three windows side by side. The windows were approximately two feet apart or one normal step to the side. Apparently my finger didn't totally clear the trigger guard on one or both of the moves. It's very likely that I shuffled to the sides rather than making one clearly defined step. I think I know how the rule reads but see no advantage to calling a DQ if the trigger infraction occurred when I shuffled to take my position at one or two of the windows. These were the last shots of the stage. What say you gentlemen?
  14. I had used a CR Speed since I started shooting five years ago. I couldn't get one of mine to hold my new Tanfo Ltd securely enough and so decided to use an open front BladeTech for a match last week. I had no prior experience with the holster and on the fourth stage thought I had reholstered securely at the command but obviously not as the gun hit the ground and I got a my first ever DQ. What I'm saying is that regardless of the holster style, we can't get casual with the holster fit or get distracted and blow it.
  15. I just had a bad experience with a BladeTech mostly because it was new to me. I've more recently received a CR Speed Tanfo specific and tuned that to my Limited Custom. I'll be very cautious with the open fronted BladeTech until it becomes second nature. I have several other CR Speeds so they are familiar and comfortable
  16. I didn't do all the math and wanted my Limited Custom Xtreme to be complete "out of the box". I have nothing to compare to other than the several fine guns I own or have owned. Subjectively, the new Tanfo beats anything I have experienced thus far. I'm using it as my IPSC Standard gun. As far as total costs are concerned, I don't know what the other guns ship with but I liked getting four mags with the Eric bases. I bought three more at $80 and they are now selling at $90 and these were not with the EG bases. Onagoth, you can meet me anytime at one of our ranges if you want a closer look. You might want to visit Waterford some Monday night or an IPSC practice night. Gord
  17. I just got a Limited Custom in .40. It came with two spare springs. One is tagged KG 6,46 and the other KG 5,09. When are these used and what is the standard one that came in the gun?
  18. I'm interested in mounting a Mini Red Dot of my Tanfoglio Limited Custom. I'd like to locate one with a Picatinny rail so that I can use an MRD I already own. Ideas? Links?
  19. I have an Xtreme Limited custom in .40 on order with an ETA of late in the year. As usual, I try to ease the pain of waiting by ordering accessories for new pistols before they arrive. I'm in Canada so my magazines will be limited to ten rounds. I'll use this pistol in IPSC Standard. I understand the pistol will ship with "K" series ten round magazines. I'm in the US now. Is there a source for these mags. ? I'm also considering mag puch options. I already have quite a few pouches of various sorts including some ten round SIG pouches. Can someone give me the dimensions of the Tanfo 10 round .40 K magazines so that I can choose my new pouches while ensuring good fit. One of my options will be CR Speed but I'd like to explore others. Thanks!!
