  1. I have a LNL AP and loaded 9 mm, 45 ACP etc. I bought a Dillon 1050 fo 9mm and would recommend any Dillon over the Hornady LNL. I had to constantly adjust, tweak and nurse the LNL w/ Case feeder. Replaced parts. I could not get 100 rounds loaded without having to tighten align or adjust something. I found production with the LNL to be more efficient by removing the cheaply implemented case feeder. Painful. I looked at the value of my time and frustration and decided to go with a 1050 as I load for me and my wife in 9mm. I recently loaded some 45 ACP on the LNL and may get a caliber conversion for the 1050. I will keep the LNL for backup if something goes south on the 1050. I have loaded about 20000 rounds on the 1050 with no problems to speak. In short get a Dillon for progressive presses. Satch
  2. Have use LNL AP for 6 years with all the problems described here. Grew tired of 'field engineering' the LNL AP. I only have so much time to devote to reloading and shooting given that I have a family and day job. Bought a Dillon 1050 last August and it solved all of my problems.
  3. I have had a LNL AP for 6 years. Recently bought a Dillon 1050. Recommend the Dillion in any model. LNL AP plagued with parts replacements. Soft metal on case feeder pivot head. Constant adjustments to get it to run for 200 rounds. Use gift certificate for reloading components and accessories. Strongly recommend buying a Dillon in a model to match your needs.
  4. I switched to a 1050 after fiddling with Hornady LNL AP for about 6 years. Case feeder always out of alignment after 200 rounds of 9mm. Soft metal on pivot head. The 1050 is solid. Best investment in shooting I have made. Plug for the sponsor of this site - bought it from Brian without any issues. Just get a Dillion. Best, Satch
  5. Take a break. Take your girl friend shooting casually to maintain gun handling and marksmanship skills. I use to be hot for IDPA but work and family schedules precluding shooting matches so most weekends I take my wife out and we run a few drills with shot timer for about 150-200 rounds of pistol. Nowadays IDPA matches burn the better part of a day they are so crowded in my area. I enjoy the social aspect and go as I am clear with other priorities. Service type work at matches or professional societies will tend to burn you out. I also use to shoot a lot of skeet and 5 stand in preparation for upland game hunting. After a while those hunting opportunities changed as well as my shotgun habits. Go hunting, camping, kayaking or something similar. There is a time and season for everything. You are relatively still young at 30 something. Plenty of time for life changes. Best, Satch
  6. Have recently ditched LNL AP case feeder due to chronic problems. Constants "twiddle" rquired to make it work. Replaced parts etc. load faster by hand feeding. Currently considering a dillon press.
  7. I find CBC headstamp 9mm brass to be problematic when crimping cast lead bullets. The brass taper crimp is not tight enough around an SNS coated bullet. This absolutely occurs with CBC brass. Sometimes I can recrimp it but most always the bullet sets back or is loose. I am culling out and trashing all CBC brass.
  8. I have a LNL AP with case feeder. Case feeder has been a constant problem with the parts breaking. Removed it and can load faster by manual case feed. Overall dissatisfied with Hornady LNL AP. Good customer service but product does not cut it. Recommend getting a dillon. I may upgrade for Christmas.
  9. I have heard that jumping rope may be beneficial in shooting. I believe it helps develop timing much like the way boxers train. With everything your mileage may vary.

    Glock stock sights

The sights we use may vary over time due to aging eyes. I have been happy with Heinies and Warren sights. Night sights are a different topic. I recently turned 50 years on earth and have found that I am loosing the front sight when shooting IDPA under time with Warren tactical sights. I put an Ameriglo lumiDot front sight which is the same dimension as the Glock OEM. These sights can be "charged" to glow with a quick flash of a light if you want them glowing. With my aging eyes the dot in the goal post seems to work well inside 15 yds. Intend to replace rear sights with steel OEM glocks when these get worn. One subtle attribute of the low profile glock sight is indexing the gun for close quarters unsighted fire or when time crisis does not allow full sighting. It is a universal fact that the polymer OEM sights are fragile - both front and rear. Fiber optic sights may be a good option for competition but I use the same sights for competition that I use for carry. Best, Satch
  11. Have a Glock Armorer call 770-432-1202 with your serial number. Thought I would reinforce that an Armorer can obtain the upgrade via phone. I am a Certified Glock Armorer and just called in a G26 Gen 4 ejector replacement. No problem - Glock is shipping one today. Satch
