  1. I have short fingers but a good size palm.I shot a Para for a couple of seasons then went to S-I. Then one day I picked up a Caspian wide body and never looked back. IMHO, I would shoot a para over an S-I,only because it fits my hand better. You can have the grips worked on the Para as well. IE, front checkering, filler blocks and grip tape. Plus I like the feel off a Steel framed gun.

    Brass Magwell

Any body know a good way to make a brass magwell permanantlly BLACK to match the frame. I have a 17 open gun with a Caspian SS slide and hybrid barrel and a brass magwell. For my liking there is tooo much BLING BLING going on. any sudgestions? Thanks, John

    Caspian

I actually got them to fit. Had to work the mag tunnel quite a bit. Now they work really well. Alen Meek has them right now.(tunning) should get them back soon.
  5. Thanks Doug, I will look into getting a Vermillion lens for my Oakleys. I love the Holosite on my pin gun as well.Took it of for the same reason (could not see the dot).I am not going to PSA this year.Have to save $$ for Steel chalange in Ca.Also going to do Area 7, Aware match and maybe NJ. Steel Chalange. If I don't see ya have a great time. John
  6. Does Caspian have nothing better to do other than tease us with his products? First the 40 mags and now slides. WTF is up with that.
  7. OK Doug, I'll bite!! How do you know? And yes I am Using interchangable lens. Oakley M frames.
  8. Try some 38 long colt brass, in length It is half way between super and 38 special. You can load it to about the same as 38 specials. Starline carries it.My 2 cents
  9. Does any one color let you see the dot better on a bright sunny day with the sun in front of you. I have found under the above conditions the dot washes out against the target. Any sudgestions? Thanks, John
  10. Also, do not put them near a heating or cooling vent. Temperature has an afect on them.

    buying a lemon

I guess what I am saying is to be aware of what your buying. I made the original post to blow some steam and to make every one aware of what your buying. I know a long time has passed since the sale and had no intention on even contacting the seller. I am pissed but, probably more at myself than anyone else. it is a lesson learned.

    buying a lemon

TDean, It has been a little over a year but never realy shot it. Like I said minor loads for steel. When I got it it was for the most part a great deal. I inspected it, Shot it for accuracy and function. It was all acceptable.Wasn't til I put major loads through is when the problems started. Should have had a gunsmith check it out, even then don't know if they would have cought it. I guess I should'nt blame the seller, but instead blame the smith on his end.

Used,I have no problem with, Like you said used is used. But having only put less 1,500 rounds through it, and having the slide lugs sheer off isnt used. If the gun was not accurate,OK. if it was a little loose,OK. But not this!

    buying a lemon

Well I wrote to the member I bought the gun from. I left the Ball in his court. Thanks guys for the encouragement. (spelling)
  15. I was going to keep this to my self, but the more I think about it,the more it pisses me off. About a year ago I bought a Caspian 38 super from a USPSA member from the USPSA classifieds. (paid good $$$ for it too) Over the course of the year I shot it a few times, mostly steel matches. (lite loads)The last few months I have been shooting it in USPSA open class (Major) ocasionally I would get a malfunction of some sort. No huge deal. So I broke it down to clean and noticed the top lugs in the slide where really shinny and rounded off (corners). Thought to my self this does not look right. I sent it to a Gunsmith to take a look at it and have some other work done. He tells me the gun was not fit rite (barrel to frame, frame to slide,ECT.) Now I am stuck with a gun that I spent my hard earned $$ on and have to have a new top end done.WTF!!!! It was like, I throw this thing together and make some cash on it. HEEE HEEEE HEEEE!! This member I bought the gun from is a long time member too. Never thought I would get F***ED by another fellow shooter. I thought we were better than that. Just had to share that and get it off my chest. Buyer Beware. Thanks for your shoulder to cry on. John
  16. It is just my personal opinion, but my daddy told me to get the best you could afford and never look back..... Listen to what was just said, and the magic words are ("best you can afford")
  17. I use a Nowlin triple comp with a Nowlin barrel in my Para. I build the gun as an all purpose gun way back when. For IPSC I used 185JHP with IMR 700X , gun shot pretty flat dot never left the lens. For pins its 255gr LSWC with 4.7grs Win 231. Great Pin Load for those who shoot pins. (pin has to clear the table) IMO I do beleive a comp on a 45 works great as long as the right powder is used. Not too fast, not too slow.
  18. Openglock34, When I was running my open glock(Built by our own MadScientist) G17 KKM with the same comp you are using. I was using 8.0grs HS-6 with a Montana Gold 124gr FMJ. Gave me 167pf. I tried a few other powders SP2,HS7 but the hs6 gave the best reults. I did use TG for minor steel loads 5grs with the same bullet. Good luck and be carefull.
  19. Tightloop, I was mearly pointing out the fact that it could be done and be competetive. You might not finish top of class but you will not finish bottom either. In a field course there are always opertune to places for a reload. I agree in a stand in one spot and fire 30 round course, you will have a problem. In seven years of shooting this game I have never seen such a stage. For someone on a budget or legaly can't obtain a new blaster or used,I think this is a great option. BTW i do shoot a 38 super as well,I build my modified gun for fun. MHO John
  20. I have to go against most as well. I have a Caspian 40 that goes both ways. My open top end on the same platform as a Modified gun. 6 port hybrid barrel with an optima mounted. Just change tops. Never loose zero, same mags, same grip. Just get yourself a big stick (24 rounds in mine) and your good to go.Here is my modified gun.
  21. Well guys, I made my decision, I am going with an AET commander barrel with an S-2 comp, also am going to have the slide cut to fit the barrel setup. Jim @ Sailors Custom will be performing the surgery. WOW!!! what a nice guy. Thanks all for the comments and sudgestions. John
  22. JP ENT. fixes them. I just had an optima fixed. $57 includes shipping back to you.
  23. Eye Cutter, Thanks for the posting. This Modified gun is built in a Caspian frame with all the goodies. The slide is still in the white, till I get all the bugs out.(Very soon now). 5grs of T.G. with 180 West Coast Bullet is the cats ass from this blaster.
  24. I will try to get one posted today.
  25. I just tried T-G wow!!!! 5gr T-G with 180 West Coast gave me a 168pf very soft. gun is: 5" Caspian widebody with a 6 port hybrid barrel and a low mount Optima
