  1. Merlin, I posed the same question to Wil Schuemann. He was stronglly against doing it. He claims it would weaken the lug area on the barrel and that the barrel would not be able to be fit correctlly. Drop him a line and he will better explain.
  2. Thank you guys for all your help. It's nice to know you guys are here. John
  3. So what you guys are saying is, there is no right or wrong in using either set up. It seems it's who has got the better mouse trap. Now, the slide, pros and cons of cutting the slide or using commander slide. I have read that using a cut gov slide will be better because it give a longer travel. TRUE or False? Thanks again, John
  4. I am thinking about building a short top end in 9mm major for my blaster. What barrels are being used? Bull/threaded or cone style barrel/threaded. I plan on using a government slide and cutting to length. I need your input guys! Thanks for lookin, John
  5. I use IMR 700x with 230 gr fmj. Gave me 170pf At A7 last year. This is from a 5" 625. Very soft shooting. As far as the hammer goes, I do believe you can bob the hammer. But I am not 100% on that.
  6. I found it got rid of all the fine scratches, I did not work on the big dings. I have a few of those too,and I live with them as you do.
  7. So the 180gr bullets are the way to go? I will have to try some. Have you guys played with lighter bullets? How did they copare to heavier ones? Love the input guys, please keep it coming. Thanks, John
  8. 9MX, I just built a modified gun just like the one in the picture you posted. I used a Caspian wide body instead of the S_I or SPS. I live in the States, We do not have modified div here. I built it because I like the concept of the gun. (rambling) I was wondering if you had the particulars of the gun. What loads are used? How does it handle? Right now I am using a 155 west coast bullet with 9.0 HS-6 gives me just under 170 pf. I am open to any load sudgestions (spelling). Thanks, John

    Caspian

SRT, do you feel where the big holes are with the tape? When you grip the gun does the tape press on the mag?I am not talking about the small round holes like 2nd gen frame. I have another 1st gen frame that has these blocks in place.I was wondering who did this or who can do this. Thanks, John
  10. I was in a music store today buying some last minute gifts. While in the check out line I noticed a little package with the words"CD/DVD repair kit .99cents. I thought, I have an Optima with scratches on the lens(from brass hitting it) I wonder if this might work. And you know what? It did. Took 75% of the scratches out of the lens. All it is,is a white milky solution and a wipe cloth. Give it a try.

    Caspian

I suspected that was the case, but had to make sure. Do you or anyone know if at all I could get them to work? Thanks for the reply
  12. I have three Caspian high caps and love them, I have two first gen framed blasters and one second (Fantom). I have three Craig mags in 40S&W that i got when I bought my Fantom,They are flowless in that gun. I found they are too tight in the other framed guns. Did Caspian change any dimentions between the first and second gen frames? or was the Fantom modified to take these mags. Second:One of my first gen frames has grips on it,I want to take the grips off and use grip tape in place. Who or what do I use to fill in the big voids in the frame? Thanks for any help. John
  13. I argee with most, Shoot what you like and what is comfortable to you. I shot a G-34 9mm minor most of 2004 season in L-10. Came in most of the time top five in class or better.(club matches)I am a revo shooter by heart, and even shot my 8 shooter in L-10 (minor) just for kicks and came out in the middle of the pack. So dont wory about the gun or how many round you have,Just plan the stage out and have fun. Just my 2 cents
  14. I found with unique is that it burns real clean and cronos very consitantly. Recoil is minimum with the 147grWC bullet sized .357. BTW this is for my stock 627 38/357 I use a 38 super for my open gun. You can find pics of my Revos in the gallery.
  15. The load that i usedat the IRC 129 PF on the east coast was higher on the west coast. It was strange. I thought I might have changed something when loading it. But it also happened with my shooting buddy. his loads were around 8 pf higher as well. As far as long colt, I think it is the ultimate comprimise between a long case (38 special) and a short case (38 short colt).I think it is acurate and stable, Easy to load in the gun and short enough for positive ejection.
  16. I would say Caspian, but I am partial. I own three and love them. BUT-- Mags are an issue. converted 38 super mags (thin ones) will only hold 16 rounds of 40. Craig mags will hold 19, but they are very rare and hard to come by. Caspian will be making 40 s-w mags by spring. I have 2 Para 14s and like them as well.factory mags have always proven well for me. Good luck in your choice
  17. The load I was using, 147gr MG (.357) with 4.5 Unique with fsp primers Starline brass. Work your load up slow. Using diff powder /bullet combos can creat preasure problems.I stopped loading them, didn't find them too be as accurate as I would like. I use 38 Long Colt now.Find it to be much better. Shorter than 38 special, longer than short colt.
  18. This is not a 158gr load but here is my load. 147gr MG FMJ (.357") w/4.5 Unique OAL 1.400". This load on the East Coast was a 129 PF. On the west coast at the 2004 IRC it cronoed at 137 PF. This is out of a 5" 627 (eight times model)l. You can actually use a loading manual for 38 special. Results will be similar.

The scope mounts are mearlly cheap weaver rails that have been flattened. Then drill and tap for a C-More
  23. Does the gun smith in the Philippines have a web site? Does any one have contact info for him. ( for long dust cover on Para )
  24. Very Cool Guns. We don't have a modified div, But I am going to build a modified gun just for the hell of it. I Built one with 38 super and used it for steel matches. But these guns have really peaked my interest. Send more pics,Love to see em.
