  1. Yeah I remember not too long ago completely blowing a stage and I said, "Dammit it happened again!" Someone of course asked, "What did?" "That stupid buzzer went off! Ruined everything!"
  2. Those socks take at least a full second off my stage times! I swear I'm getting a second sight picture before breaking the second shot, but I will watch for it. You are right there is no cadence though, it is definitely 2...2...2...2 instead of 1.1.1.1.1. Did not notice that before though, thanks.
  3. Okay, gonna open myself up to some criticism here. Only got two of the five stages from Saturday recorded but I think my faults are the same between. Most obvious thing when watching myself is seeing my reloads slowing me down. They were "good enough" before I did a lot of movement practice, but now I'm in the next position but not yet ready to go. Which sucks. Shooting Production if you're wondering. PS: I did not name the videos nor upload them to youtube, there was no smoking going on. Thanks, guys. I'm really going to amp up the reload practice during the offseason here.
  4. Does the manual safety on the CZ get in the way or slow things down at all? One of the things I like the most about the Glocks (and XD's) is the lack of a manual safety.
  5. It's possible. The XD has the same groove and aren't they imported from Croatia? The M&P doesn't have a demarcated groove like the imports, but it does have a slight thumb indentation, and is made in the USA, right? Could be on to something with that theory...
  6. Believe in yourself! Think positively about what you are about to do and you will be unable to think negatively at the same time.
  7. Yeah, the Magpul Dynamics vids show the same technique -- support hand as far forward as possible, thumb on top and wrapped over.
  8. Not going to start a debate but I am a huge fan of Gary Taubes' book, Good Calories, Bad Calories. There is not enough science in nutrition these days, surprisingly.
  9. Heh, no respect needed. Just takes practice and consistency. I started doing pullups on my garage door railing in the garage... till I bent it.
  10. I've gotten mine to start working again, though I didn't do anything. Just keep trying at various points during your day, and once you get it up and stable DO NOT TURN IT OFF EVER. Let that app stay in the background until you actually need to use it. Best I can do right now until they update it. Keep trying!
  11. This is exactly right. The skillsets between the two sports are totally different. It's like trying to go between tennis and racquetball, they are almost mutually exclusive sports.
  12. Hopefully tonight's game will be better. Bears and Eagles should be a good game.
  13. I would think a kid would enjoy 9mm out of a big heavy gun because of the reduced recoil. My kids aren't old enough yet to test this though.
  14. The book that has done more for me than any other is Steve Anderson's book of drills, Refinement & Repetition. Record your times and work 'em down.
  15. This single drill improved my shooting on the move more than any other. Live fire and dry fire.
  16. I've heard nothing but good things about this trigger. I will definitely be splurging on one for my next rifle.
  17. I would like to hear more experiences as well. I shoot Production with a standard old XD9 and have been considering the new 5.25, but lack of reviews from actual users has me hesitant.
  18. Easiest way to become an explosive mover is to do your leg exercises explosively. I know it sounds tautological but getting explosiveness requires practicing being explosive. When you do your squats, explode up from the ground. When you do lunges, explode into the next lunge. And so on. Like anything else, you have to train your muscles to move that way.
  19. Not sure if it is the exact one I started on, but yes the 5x5 programs are fantastic for starting out strength training. I highly recommend the increasing to max style of training up. Very effective.
  20. 3 sets of 10, nothing fancy. I'm also working on getting my post-workout cooldown set as high as it can go. I'm up to 35 pullups after a workout. It's fun. (edit: No weights on the cooldown set, obviously!)
  21. I'm gonna have to reread Mike's book on my next trip. I read it when I first started USPSA and a lot of it didn't stick. I've been strictly doing drills from Steve's book instead, and now that I've gotten into it and made it a habit I feel like I should revisit Seeklander's.
